Ugh, soon enough, I understand why they are shutting down sites, but I feel that it's retarded to "moderate" the internet if you will, soon enough any site that the government feels like is a "harm" to people, they will shut down.

Eventually I'm going to have to actually buy league pass, I would buy all these sports channels over the TV if some of the fees weren't outrageous.

On another note, you've got to wonder why the NBA would NOT want you to watch their games, even if its on an "illegal" site. Shouldn't they be happy? When I'm watching an out of town game I can't see here in NY, I'm also watching the commercials in between the game as well. Aren't the advertisers happy I'm seeing their ads? And shouldn't the NBA be happy I'm spending their time watching their product at all?

I've had it for two years, but I'm done after this season. Having one or two blackouts EVERY night for the best games makes it worthless to me. I don't think those blackouts happen as much in the US though, way more games are nationally televised in Canada.

The "free preview" of league pass for that 2-week span ending on jan 23rd was all part of an NBA masterplan obviously...get them have a taste of our high quality league pass...then they will swarm to pay for it after homeland security shuts down all the pirate streaming sites 1 week from it.

The US version is terrible. Let me let you in on a little something something, First of all its not even HD(You have to tweak it to get to be HD, even then its only 1600kb not something like 3000kb), second of all the full screen is actually half screen. Thirdly blacked out games are not archived. I was going to base my crack on the u.s version but these faults led me not to.

Then don't even get me started with their blackouts... :facepalm

League Pass has been flawless this year, no cutoffs or downtime. eats a lot of bandwith tho. Here in canada i using videotron and can only use up to 40 go a month up and down together. watching a single game in HD equals losing like 2 or 3 gb or bandwith ...

watching it low quality is enough for me, and it doesnt consum too much bandwith. Not all games are worth the watch either and you know it, i only watch the big teams.

The invasion of privacy part is where they track and monitor computers without reason. In Britian about a year or two ago a law was passed where Police officers could monitor your computer/internet activity whenever they please for how long they please. I'm not sure if that bill is still intact, but that's the invasion of privacy part.

Which the US isn't breaking here I believe. :oldlol:

Us viewers are untouchable at this point, the ones who are hosting this information are the ones in trouble. We aren't really involved, just sad. Thankfully they'll all be up soon and ATDHE is up already.

The real question is, do these sites have the resources to switch domaines every month in order to accomodate U.S. citizens?

If the government is aggresive enough, some of these sites will give up on changing domains all the time, and will just cater to those outside the U.S. (which is what the DHS wants).

this isnt the 1st time. they been going after torrent sites as well. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) dont have time to worry about illegal immigration or other illegal drugs and all the other things customs should be doing since they been using a lot of effort to take down website.

On Thursday, the 25th of November 2010, the Torrent Finder domain ( www.torrent-finder.com ), registered with Godaddy, was seized by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without any prior takedown notice or specific allegations of infringing activity. The Domain IP was suddenly changed without the registrar's knowledge and the system displayed a "Pending Registry Action" message on the domain's status. No contact was given until Wednesday, the 1st of December, when Godaddy replied to my inquiries, giving a contact for an ICE agent. On Thursday, the 2nd of December, David Snead who is representing Torrent Finder contacted the ICE agent in charge who told him that "the orders are under seal, but that the seal will be lifted today or tomorrow". However, we have not heard from them until writing this post. Another email from Godaddy clarified that the action was taken by VeriSign: "please understand that these actions were taken by Verisign at the Registry level; and not by Go Daddy". The story was first reported on TorrentFreak and NYTimes.com.

They don't have to. If the domain provider and hosting is overseas, the U.S. can only beg the providers/host to shut it down.

I'm in Australia and these sites are the only way i can watch games. Like a poster said above, the League pass ones use too much of my downloads, it's not unlimited downloads like in the States. I would have no problem using League pass, but i can't do that at work, like I can with these sites.

Hopefully this new link stays up. Otherwise :(

I wish the NBA would start releasing every teams season on blu-ray.

I mean I'd buy old seasons. There's be a ton more awesome mix's on youtube, but atleast the footage would be making money.

You could decide which audio you want, home or away broadcast, in what language and so on. Stern is such a b*tch.

once they change to domains that don't belong to the US, they should be fine unless of course the US gov decides it controls all internet which is something they are arrogant enough to try

Homeland Security....hmmmmmmm, did anyone notice how quickly Homeland Security got setup right after 9/11. Gee, it's almost as if they knew 9/11 would happen and had all the plans in place ready to go.......

That's not suspicous...........

Didn't the Nazi Party in Germany have a Homeland Security? hmmmmm.........

Wasn't the FBI in charge of our "homeland security" before 9/11? What does this department do differently? Hmmmm..........

Nothing to see here......please move along........

This is the real problem with the setting up of a surveillance state in the wake of 9/11. It will inevitably grow beyond it's mission, driven by influential corporate interests, in an attempt to control all manner of private activities.

Honestly, f*ck the US government man. They always attack the little people.

Actions like this of the government are driven by corporate interests who have bought or swindled far more influence within government than individual citizens usually ever can.

That is, don't focus your hate on "the government". It's simply the tool being used. Where to focus your hatred then?

Follow the money... Whose profits are being cut into?

I personally fear the influence of corporations within our government far more than any external threat of terrorism or war.

I would pay for NBA games without an issue. I live under 100 miles from Charlotte and can't watch a game on TV. I tried many cable packages and never got a honest answer. All the games were blacked out even on league pass. I had no other options to watch the team available to me with the exception of getting a dish. Screw that, these dumb blackout rules made the need for a black market and it will only increase as they try to control when we can watch a damn basketball game.

100% wrong. They were established to protect us from the supposed existential threat of terrorism.

That is not how the public was convinced to give up some of their freedoms.

But that is how the curtailing of our rights is now being abused, yes.

:pimp:

Actions like the Patriot Act and FISA, along with the establishment of the Dept of Homeland Security, resulted in the infringment upon a lot of rights to privacy of U.S. citizens. This was supposedly done because of the threat of terrorism to our very existence.

The infringement of our rights is not well publicized, but it is the truth. And it is being abused now by corporate interests.

Anyway, back to bball... :)
