I've been listening to a ton of instrumentals lately since I got my new headphones. I was wondering what's people's favorite soundtrack instrumental or score they like to listen to?
A few of my favorites...
Hans Zimmer - Journey To The Line (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG9-j3eevL4) (from "The Thin Red Line")
Hans Zimmer - Time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0kGAz6HYM8) (from "Inception")
Howard Shore - Give Up The Halfling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPbFB6GjilQ) (from "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring")
Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard - Like A Dog Chasing Cars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0ynjjk2c7Y) (from "The Dark Knight")
...another reason I made the thread to get ideas of what more to listen to.

Quincy Jones' Soul Bossa Nova is so :pimp:
Curtis Mayfield's score for Superfly was epic as well.

We were discussing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's soundtrack just about a week ago here. I agree, it's fantastic. I also own the disc.
I have been forever a fan of The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. Here is "Promentory":

I am also partial to the Crash soundtrack. Here is "Sense of Touch": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqUDeBPTouU

I'm diggin the thread concept Meticode. I'll feed you a rep sandwich when I can
One of my all time favorites is off the Good Will Hunting soundtrack. I'm a big fan of the late Elliot Smith and the fact that he's featured 6 times on the album is enough of a sell for me.

Clint Mansell does most if not all of Aronofsky's soundtracks IIRC. Very good soundtracks:
The Fountain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihF_aXi-Huk&feature=bf_next&list=MLGxdCwVVULXd2EPIP-NtBWc1JselGukqS&index=2
Requiem for a Dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKLpJtvzlEI&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=MLGxdCwVVULXd2EPIP-NtBWc1JselGukqS
I've mentioned this in other threads but I love the LOTR score. The part (2:16) where the Black Gate is about to collapse always gets me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jJnyyta07k
I really like Bruno Nicolai and Luis Bacalov.
Nicolai is classic seventies like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQIGjBCUmiI
Bacalov is just classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch2effrk9Mw&feature=related (Track starts of slowly mind you... It says Osanna, but Bacalov is the composer of this)

clint mansell really is the best imo

moon

smokin aces(shite film but still)
dead reckoning- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa33P9A5iHs
pi
theme from pi- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAEQuE-ygjA
yet again he has produced the best score all year
black swan-
lose yourself- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNrOvW6XuNo
a new swan queen- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGlk8zQnMrc
power seduction cries- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2EnvARytEI
opposites attract- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsosLFKwLRU
i would even go as far as to say that aronofsky has been lucky to find clint mansell- who has scored every film hes done. i have no doubt he would have found a great cinematographer at some point but would pi/requim been as huge stepping stones as they were if not for mansells scores?

Scary Monsters tops everything. The beat is soooo dirty.......especially when you blast it at a party and the DJ does his thing. Make it really loud to feel the beauty of such a beat.

If I had to narrow my favorite movie score composers down to two, it would probably be Thomas Newman and Gustavo Santaolalla.
Thomas Newman has an incredible resume of movie scores and it is no coincidence that he has so many classic films to his name. His scores always enhance the movie.
A few of my favorite scores Newman has created...
Road to Perdition (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ7DVOGRoaQ)
American Beauty (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm5ZtxIFOzg)
Shawshank Redemption theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x92VJ4mgqv0) also Brooks Was Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByJsjIyS1wQ)
Santaolalla is most recognized by his score from the movie Brokeback Mountain.
Here are the most recognizable sections of that particular score...
The Opening (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDSvwNBYhNs)
The Wings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEqIlRcwm5o)
But, my favorite Santaolalla work is from Motorcycle Diaries. Listen Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh2GgCFR2dw)

All of the Nick Cave scored films -
The Road
The Assassination Of Jesse James
Any soundtrack by Tangerine Dream -
Near Dark being my personal favorite.
At Close Range had a terrific soundtrack (mad props Madonna)...
And last but hardly least There Will Be Blood thanks to Johnny Greenwood.

Fantastic choice in the Madonna track that is in At Close Range. You wouldn't think that an early Madonna song would lend itself to such a serious, bleak melodrama, but it works perfectly. I believe it was Live To Tell that was used.
And, I almost included Greenwood's work in TWBB in my above post. Awesome stuff.
