*Zelenoff vs Hartley II* - update on zelenoff for those interested

i mentioned a few weeks ago that he was planning a rematch with andrew hartley. well yesterday was the day.

and here is how it went down, this courtesy of lamar doom. i didn't ask permission, but it;s one public forum to another so hopefully he's alright with it.

o they were set to be the main event of Trinity Boxing's Fight Night. the 7th of 7 fights. We heard them announce before the 6th fight that this would be the final fight of the night at which point Charlie came up to us talking about "they saw me hitting the bag and they won't let us fight" so we scrambled into the back to get the story- someone has shown up and convinced the owner/manager not to let two pro fighters fight. It's a little chaotic, lots of arguing from all sides. Charlie approaches Andrew and asks him about why they aren't fighting (which wasn't Hartley's call at all) and sticks his gloved hand out as if to shake hands and throws a ludicrous cheap shot connecting on Hartley's jaw. Hartley staggers back but stays up- one of Hartley's guys from ATG tackles Charlie and Eugene slaps the shit out of Charlie who's on his back looking terrified. Eugene begs that the man let Charlie up and he does. Eugene puts him in a half nelson and is screaming at him in russian as he drags him out of the gym. Charlie is yelling something about "that's revenge! that's revenge"
The staff comes back to find out what the comotion is all about (wait til you see the video, both pheelgood and frank have great angles). Hartley is crowned ATG champion and Charlie once again loses. 0-1 forever. He left his "Charlie Z Victory" hat and I have it. I left the mouthguard on the floor.

of course in charlie's mind this is a victory, so he came up with a new promotion company name, since his former promoter kicked him out of ATG, and claimed to be 9-0 in underground fights. from charlie's website:

well it seems like charlie was sabotaging the fight all night. ****ing around and pissing off the gym managers (they tried 2 different gyms since charlie never set one up beforehand), after the second gym called off their fight, that was when charlie sucker punched hartley in the back room while hartley was getting dressed.

after the punch, as you can see in the vid, his dad drags him out kicking and screaming and there was no way he was letting his son fight. he was hopefully gonna slap the sh*t out of him.

So basically at this point, Charlie NEVER FIGHTS ANYONE that he is "scheduled" to fight huh? And the one fight in which he actually did partake in, he was completely embarrassed by a kid who could hardly fight himself...


It sounds like dude talks a lot of shit, then when it comes down to it, he does something to sabotage the fights, and then pretends as if outside circumstances were at play for the reasons the fights are canceled.

We show up to Hollywood Gym where Charlie, the self-proclaimed promoter of the fight, has supposedly set up a full contact exhibition- of course no one at the gym knows anything about it and kicks him out because he's already banned for life and is acting crazy. They tell us next time he sets foot in the gym he'll leave in handcuffs. He sees us in the parking lot and throws a shit fit, he speeds off with his dad and calls Hartley who puts the call on speaker "YOU CALLED ALL MY ENEMIES! YOU CALLED LAMAR! ETC". Hartley tells us he wants to try Trinity boxing gym now, we go over there and of course it's a no go. I head home disappointed and get a call from Pheelgood saying the fight is back on- that they have an amateur fight night and Charlie and Hartley will be the main event. It's actually kind of a cool thing, they let us bring beer in and watch all these fights for free- you can read in the OP my initial report on the events at Trinity, here's Frank Stea's recap



All night long Charlie was looking for excuses to back out of the fight. There was the gym owner there who was going to ref the fight and he kept bitching about having his own ref to do the fight. I told Charlie numerous times not to act like a moron and he kept on doing so. The gym owner came up and told us that he's not allowing the fight to happen because of Charlie's acting crazy. The owner said that they could do it the next day during training hours but not on the show. Charlie's father even offered Andrew to stay an extra day and he would have paid for his flight change and hotel. Andrew accepted that offer but Charlie wanted to fight in the parking lot.

I told Hartley that a street fight is not worth it and he could easily get locked up on numerous charges. He took my advice and told Charlie he would only fight him in a ring. Charlie kept bitching and moaning about how Hartley wouldn't fight him with gloves and headgear on in the parking lot or an alley. Hartley didn't back out of shit.

Andrew was putting on his pants and Charlie just walked up to him and punched him with all of his might. I was totally shocked and disgraced over what Zelenoff did. Very classless even for such a low class person such as himself.

Before he was a novelty act to me. He really needs some form of psychiatric help and his father even admitted it to us. I was fortunate enough though to get the opportunity to meet a few haters and let me say I was very honored to have met them.

I wish to extend my deepest apologies to anyone I have offended with my association with Charlie Zelenoff. I assure you that I will never have anything to do with him unless it has something to do with destroying any notoriety he has left.
