Which center has the best shooting of all time? you can only pick one...

Because this thread is mainly talked about center, therefore, players like Dirk, etc. should be excluded.

I know people will argue that Raef LaFrentz, Brad Miller, Yao, etc. should be in the discussion, but I doubt they're @all-time level regarding to shooting...

I know someone will post Wilt's picture here later on, so I skip that part:lol

I'd go with Bob McAdoo

Rik Smits has a case for it if you base it on pure shooting.

one might argue players like McAdoo or Duncan as a center...

Raef and Okur are better straight up shooters than most of them.

None of the above (in OP) cuz Bob McAdoo was, for my $$ the greatest shooting center of all time.

A slight 6' 9," 215 pound rookie for Buffalo Braves, McAdoo was slotted at forward and won ROY in 1973. Then Buffalo traded away Elmore Smith the following year, and played McAdoo at center. He exploded for 30.6 ppg at 54.7% FG, but since he was undersized, he shot mainly from outside. Now, this was remarkable, because the only other guys to lead the league in scoring AND FG percentage were Wilt (four times) and Shaq (once), who played much closer to the basket.

McAdoo wasn't a one-dimensional scorer like Dirk. He hauled down 15 boards per and blocked 3.4 shots per game. He was runner-up MVP that year to Abdul-Jabbar. McAdoo was even better the following year at 34.5 ppg. No less authority than Bill Russell, who had coached against him that year, called him the greatest shooter of all time.

Hard to say who was the best because some shot mid range and some shot mostly 3's but here some that I have seen play in no particular order.. Sabonis, Smits, Ewing, Hakeem, Perkins, Divacs, Yao

Manute Bol had the most range... he didnt take allot of threes. but i dont think any other center was able to realisticly take 40 footers without being laughed at like bol was able to

I hate to agree with this but its true, even if he is a bust he can still shoot better than most of the guards in the league.

While Guarded Face Front Wise: Ewing and Sabonis.

I'll go with the only guy who clapped when Jordan was announced as the MVP of the all-star game during the 95-96 season:

Rik Smits.

Go look it up, he's the only one smiling and clapping as Jordan is being awarded.

I believe if you add fg, 3pt and ft % it is technically Kevin Love, but it seems the consensus on this board is that his stats are somehow fake so I guess he doesn't count

Bust? I hate when people call him a bust. He is not a bust by any means. He's the freaking best player on the Raptors and he averages over 20 ppg. I think what you mean is that he did not end up the best player in his draft class but he's still in the top 5 and I admit he's inconsistent but he's not a ****ing bust.

The best player on the Raptor???

Is that an accomplishment? He's garbage if he scores 30 a game. He is one of the best shooting centers of all-time tho. #1 SAM PERKINS

Bonner > both of them from three.

No mention of Channing Frye? Yeah, there are a lot of great shooting centres, but ones that can shoot so quickly off the catch and off the dribble like he does? I'd say his name at least deserves a mention.

Ewing for me seemed the most consistent, currently it would have to be a healthy Okur or Bargs if you consider him a centre.
