in ONLY the SCORING GAMESTYLE ARSENAL department YES!

in the OVERALL ALLROUND PLAYER, SKILLS, TALENT, EFFICIENCY, PRODUCTIONS AND SO ON department NOT EVEN CLOSE NO!

the closest player to modern day jordan as a whole like that is LEBRON JAMES
jordan averaged almost a 30 point triple double he was NOT just a scorer (and such a shotjacker at it) like KOBE
KOBE COULD NEVER DROP NUMBERS LIKE THAT BECAUSE HE WAS NOT THE OVERALL ALLROUND PLAYER JORDAN WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE, BUT LEBRON IS THE CLOSEST

Wow. After seeing all of those pictures and then seeing young Kobe again, definitely a kid..... cannot put it into words. Contrived, and I really don't mean anything bad by it. But like an obsession compulsion to be that image of Mike and be on top the way Mike was. But what I'm seeing in that kid is a personality that's way different than the others. (And closer to mine a little bit, so I'm not knocking him.)

Just what i wanted to say, thats what i call determination, self-assurance and authority. He believed in something and put everything he got into it mentally & physically. Kobe reminds myself of me aswell that way, not to that kindof degree when mentioning basketball success obviously but i did play in the pros for a short while in Europe, Reggie Miller was the guy for me though.

Nothing but respect for that kindof attitude, not just in basketball but in life.

Everyone wanted to be MJ......

Kobe's the only one who put in the work and loved the game as much as him.

and even though Kobe uses alot of MJ's arsenal...he also incorporated alot of his own...and took it to the next level...the same way MJ took Doctor J's game to the next level...Gonna Fill those shoes this year.....just watch.

To be fair... what kid wasn't a Jordan fan in the 80s-90s? Obviously Kobe took it to a whole other, weird stalker level, but at least he had the talent to try to pull a Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs and make a Jordan skin suit for himself.

I love how much everybody on here hates. The only reason the conversation about Kobe and MJ comes up is because all you clowns insist on bringing up your opinion that MJ is better than Kobe for no reason at all. Nobody asked about your opinion of MJ. This is just a picture of Kobe when he was young. Shut up about this already. This is a Kobe thread, nobody cares about whether or not MJ was better or not when someone posts a picture of Kobe in 90.

so if I grew up loving movies made by Francis Ford Coppola and was obsessed with making films in general. When I got the chance to make one and one of the films I made was an ode to one of his films, does that make me a stalker?

Seriously people get over it. We all grow up with heroes in the sport or profession that we aspire to, much of what we incorporate into our own work is what we learned, derived from what they did. For many of us, the entire reason we love what we do is because of the people tat inspired us. The best we can hope to achieve is to take what they did and build on it to take it to a new level, by bringing our own style, skills, imagination and desire to it.

There is not a person in the world that doesn't learn from the people that came before them.

We all adopt the mannerisms and traits, styles, looks, habits of the people we admire.

If you believe that everything you do is completely original, then you'd be the first such human in modern history. We're indeed very lucky to have you.

What we should applaud Kobe for is the level of success he has achieved and for the duration of time he has been able to maintain that excellence.

the rest of this is simply jealousy, anger, insecurity.

the rest of this is simply jealousy, anger, insecurity.

To a certain extent I agree with you, I used to stick my tongue out on the way to the hoop...when I was 7, it's just strange that he did it for so long, hell he's still doing it. You would think he would adopt some of his father's mannerisms not another man's it just makes me wonder how much film on Jordan he used to watch. He's still an offensive juggernaut but his defense is fading, if he was ever the premier defender people make him out to be, anyway for him to ever claim that Jordan wasn't and isn't still his favorite player is ludicrous.

Not sure if srs. It's the combination of different traits/charateristics/interests that makes us somewhat unique. Completely swaggerjacking another player repeatedly isnt something to be defended and if it bothers you that much, just ignore it. Kobe is great, that's nice and everything, but he's still weird in this aspect and nothing from this should be applauded. Anyone else would have been labeled a pyscho by now.

MJ being better than Kobe is a fact. Kobe's lucky to even be mentioned in the same sentence.

It would be nice if kobe had his own style. But it seems the older kobe gets to more he seems to copy/imitate Jordan's style. Especially the last 2-3 years. And the constant sticking out his tongue is crazy cuz I know he didn't do it as often during the 1st 3 peat. Early in his career you saw it here and there, but now it's a bit over the top.

Some of Jordan fans are annoying as well. However Jordan is considered as GOAT almost by everyone excepts delusional homers.Even in HOF he was considered as GOAT.He might be the only guy with enough MVPs,Stats & Rings to considered as best.(Kareem is other who can match up with all) Of course a jordan stan who acts like he was best at everything is quite annoying.Or disgrace other player just because Jordan was better.

The reason i don't like Kobe, mostly he is overrated. Also i don't like him to copy Jordan.I'm not talking about fadeaways but i'm talking about from his dress to speaking style. He has high cocky voice in real but he is trying to sound more deep in interviews. He was saying Magic was his idol but clearly it is Jordan.I don't like him to point his finger to his teammates when he is the one playing bad.I don't like him to cause Laker's dynasty fall apart in early 00's.If he wasn't primadonna,Lakers could be best team until 08.(I'm not even Lakersfan) He is 32 and he is still taking forced shots in a team which has scoring options.I'm not even bring rape stuff.I think he is great player but thats all.

Only Nba player in the league now, i wouldn't mind to be his homer is Duncan. He has stats, rings, mvps and never been a diva.Always loyal and humble while being arguably most successful player of 00's.(I'm a bulls fan and my favorite player was Rodman by the way.)

Look if Kobe wanted to copy Jordan as much as the haters think, then he wouldn't have bothered developing a 3 point shot.

He wouldn't be shooting from deep, ever. He wouldn't take all those wild shots and his shot selection would be a lot better. If he really wanted to copy Jordan so much then he would attack the basket more frequently, he would be nice to the media. There's so much more Kobe could do if he wanted to be exactly like Jordan, and he doesn't. Bryant just happens to be smart enough to know that Jordan didn't invent every damn basketball gesture or movement that there is , unlike these irrational, uninformed Kobe hating nut jobs.

so if I grew up loving movies made by Francis Ford Coppola and was obsessed with making films in general.

You are criticizing Kobe for doing what you wish you could have.

Move on.
