my dad had this bad ass football game he's told me about that i've always wanted to recreate. it was basically an overhead projector of sorts. it came with transparent slides, something like 20-30. each slide showed a field of maybe 30 yards, with a single line curved to a certain extent and moving in a certain direction. half of the slides were for defense and the other half were for offense.

basically, the guy designated on offense chooses his slide and the guy on defense chooses his slide. both lay them on the projector at the same time, and wherever the lines intersect is where the ball stops. that's the play. i don't know how they worked out scoring or first downs or anything, but based on the description, i can think of any number of different usable systems off the top of my head.

i always thought that game sounded super cool, especially for a football fan. so simple yet so damn fun. and it really wouldn't be that hard to make. hardest part would be designing the plays, which would probably take a lot of trial and error.
