-I was born in the 1960's. In the Southern U.S
-I was picked in the first round of the NBA draft
-I am a HOFer
-I averaged over two steals in my career
-I played in the NBA finals
-I played with at least one other HOFer
-I played for 2 teams in my career.
-After I finished my NBA career I coached an NCAA bball team for two seasons.

Who am I?

I didn't want to make it too easy or to hard. Try not to use google, and see if you can guess it right.

If it is too hard for some reason I can give more hints. Go!

I am an NBA Champion.
I led the league in Scoring.
My first name is less widely known than my nickname.
I am from a big city but went to college in a small border town.
I almost played with best player of the 70's who was under 7 feet. I ended up playing against his team several times in the playoffs.
My number was retired by a city I didn't play in and by a team that I'm not most known for.

I have won a player of the month award.
I was twice in the top 10 in assists for a season, including during my rookie year.

Myth
03-09-2011, 07:57 PM
I could be wrong, but given the clues I don't think MJ meets these standards.

There were several clues that I was unsure of myself. I know very little about UNC, so wasn't sure of the town sizes (especially back then). Also, I don't know who the poster thought the greatest under 7' player is from the 70s, and I don't know what constitutes "almost" playing with somebody.

What I did know is that he is a champion, a scoring champion, an argument could be made that Jordan is more known by "Air Jordan" rather than "Michael Jordan" (especially since Nike is what keeps Jordan most relevant these days), and his jersey was retired by the Heat.

KevinNYC
03-09-2011, 07:58 PM
We have a winner! It's Tiny Archibald.

My next clue was going to going to be I led the league in assists.

KevinNYC
03-09-2011, 08:00 PM
When the leagues merged Tiny Archibald was traded to the on the NY Nets, but the Nets had to pay a penalty to the Knicks for being in the same city and so they sold the rights to Dr. J to the Sixers.

I will help out and say that he played in the 80s and really is not very well known (hence why it is difficult).
He was also drafted by the Bulls, but never played for them.

Sweet jesus how'd did you get it?????!!!!! that would be diffcult for most people??

You're giving too many fairly easy clues.

The last name being --mp is pretty easy to decode as Kemp. From there it's easy.

As for Bernard King, I grew up near Fort Hamilton and my brother lives 4 blocks from it, so that was easy for me, but also, the Saint plus Dog = Bernard and then it's easy.

Easy. Kevin Garnett
He punched Wally Szczerbiak
He won an MVP
He has averaged numerous double double seasons.
He played with Isiah Rider
He was traded to the Celts.

Actually that is incorrect (you fell right into my trap). KG has won 2 end of season awards (MVP and DPOY).

Danny Ainge!
He was never an all-star during his championship years.
He coached the Suns and played for them.
He played for his home state Portland Trailblazers.
He was an all-American in football, baseball, etc.
He did play for the Kings.
He was a good 3pt shooter.

Yep. I thought 1987 Lakers should have got it since he created a Danny Ainge one AFTER my Danny Ainge quiz was already posted, lol.

I have been shot.

I was born a brooklyn native .... went to fort hamilton highschool,

About three hours after mananmater posted about Bernard King's High School, I came across this crazy news story (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2011/03/10/2011-03-10_16yearold_zhanna_smsarian_charged_after_she_spl ashed_classmate_with_acid_to_burn.html#ixzz1GGuK4O D4)

A simmering feud between two Brooklyn high schoolers exploded when one of the girls tried to blind her helpless frenemy with acid, authorities said Thursday.

Zhanna Smsarian, 16, admits she wanted "to burn the eyes out" of honor student Albina Eshimbaeva when she snuck up from behind with a bottle of acid in their Wednesday morning chemistry class, cops said.

Eshimbaeva, 15, told the Daily News last night that she had a feeling Smsarian was gunning for her the day of the attack inside Fort Hamilton High School.

Smsarian "was standing against a wall staring at me in an evil way," the victim said. "She was smiling, but it was evil.

"I knew something bad was coming, but didn't know what it was. Two seconds later, I felt the liquid falling down my bangs."

Smsarian was in her ROTC uniform and wearing a pair of goggles as she swore in Russian and dumped the acid.

Both girls are honor students and in the ROTC.

One last one for me, then I'm off to bed:

I have punched a teammate.
I have won only 1 major end of NBA season award.
I have averaged a double double in more than half of the NBA seasons I have played.
I have played alongside a player who is known for completing a between the legs dunk in an NBA game.
After many seasons playing in a small market, I was finally traded by my original team to a larger market.

I have been on the All-NBA Second Team once.

I think he's just trolling. I looked for NBA players that was born in Alabama but no one reached the clues. I just found out that there was already a first Filipino-American NBA player. His name is Raymond Townsend.

Check 208th pick in 1984 - Carl Lewis

Bulls drafted him, and won multiple championships when Lewis's career was in twilight - I did not say that he won championships

Lewsi has 9 Olympic gold medals which is definately more than Larry's single gold

Ben Johnson had same role - sprinter, and was his biggest rival

Jordan never won single game against him - because they never played each other

Do I need to explain the best jumper part ?

Added hints to this one since it has been hours without somebody getting it.

I never made any all-star team during a year in which I won an NBA championship.
I coached the last team I played for.
I played for my home state's team.
I was an all-American football player in high school.
The team I was on for the shortest amount of time was the Kings.
I have been in the top 10 for 3pt% 4 seasons in my career.
