I have actually always preferred the In Utero version of All Apologies but I am guessing I am in the minority on that.

Good list.

Fun Nirvana fact: Cobain almost walked out on the Unplugged sessions during Pennyroyal Tea because he thought the show was going terribly. He was very nervous about the whole thing, especially that song, which is why Grohl had to encourage him beforehand, on stage, to go ahead and do it.

You can tell where he's considering walking out during the performance:

Where he drags out "I'm" in "I'm on warm milk and laxatives". Around 2:00

Thats pretty crazy, considering how epic the first 4 songs were before that.

I'm from that era, and a fan of the genre in general, and oddly was never a big fan. However ... I absolutely love the Unplugged performance. I remember not being into it when it happened because I just didn't dig them, then hearing so much about it that I recorded it, and I was absolutely blown away. It's a disc I still listen to occasionally beginning to end.

My favorite song is Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam.

You should also add Breed to your list.

it's ridiculous how much john bonham you can hear in dave grohl's drumming

he lifts some fills verbatim, but he doesn't do it out of spite, he's paying tribute

And why shouldn't he? I wish more drummers would.

Not to mention how awesome that song was performed. It's in 'Heavier than Heaven' somewhere. Good read.

Nearly 3 years later :oldlol:

Nirvana was one of the first bands that really got me into music. It's a shame that most people only know about Smells Like Teen Spirit, because after listening to their entire output, it's honestly one of their weaker songs.

Distinct lack of Milk It in this thread.

Yeah, I'm kind of like Thorpe where I didn't listen to much of their discography but Unplugged is something I absolutely love. Lake of Fire is such an incredible performance by Cobain.
