I am glad I voted for nobody, so I dont feel responsible personally for this bullshit Obama has been leading us into.
He's such a lying dickhead, he won the f*cking Nobel Prize for peace and has sent americans to be slaughtered in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya. Every speech he makes he tries to spin everything around and make it seem like the noble choice, and he is fooling alot of idiots seemingly, those who still blindly support him and his bank bailouts and mythical healthcare plan that probably will be run horribly once it comes in to operation.
Politically he has pissed off both the left and the right and he cant get anything to pass.

You mean the right wing are. Its so dumb how they have so many people on the right defending the top 1% income vs everyone else exaggerating socialism.
I do have regrets voting for Obama, since him and Hillary are too much of do-gooders than looking out for ourselves policy, and considering we're likely headed into another recession this time next year, we need to tighten up. If anything comes of Libya i'll blame Obama but i still put Iraq and Afghanistan on Bush.

If you don't vote, just shut up.
So it is better to vote for a candidate you have no faith in then it is to not vote at all?
It is better to vote for a third party candidate you have faith in even if you know they wont get more than a few thousand votes and your vote will be wasted?
It is better to vote for one of the two major parties even though they basically believe in the same shit and both are not aiming to accomplish any of the goals you feel America should be working towards?
So basically what you're saying is it's better to vote for a shithead than it is to not vote at all.

Idealistically maybe, but realistically no it is a massive waste of time spent driving to the voting station, waiting in line, and a waste of gas.
In your little ideal situation what will happen if more people vote for 3rd parties? Magically the two party system will lose all of it's power? Do you really believe that will happen?

no, actually it can have a realistic impact, in that parties that gain enough of the vote can access the public election funds the next go round. So, every third party vote helps.

sent americans to slaughtered in Iraq? Despite him virtually ending the war and withdrawing a good number of troops from there. Yeah we have troops there still but its a security force, and as I mentioned in a different thread, we have a similar situation in places like Vietnam still.
The attacks on Libya seemed to be more decided by the UN, and Obama didn't want to undermine the UN and not go along with it. And we're not sending anyone to slaughter there seeing how he said were not committing ground troops, its all occasional air strikes and such.
Afghanistan I don't agree with so nothing to say there.
Can't get anything to pass yet if you look at his legislative record as president, he's passed quite a lot. This was cited in another thread and its a good time to cite it again. http://obamaachievements.org/list
You can say "It's biased." but it has references and I guarantee anything you find there can be found other places.
He'll have serious problems passing much in the next two years but thats more because Republicans are in power and they're hellbent on opposing anything he proposes. Mitch McConnel said his #1 goal is to make Obama fail.
As for Gitmo, a few weeks into office he signed an executive order to shut it down. However, it hasn't been shut down yet cause they don't know where to try and potentially jail the prisoners. You can ***** about how long its taking to get it figured out, but if he focused most of his effort on that the opposition would be pissed cause he's not focusing on something else like the economy.

But not voting hurts the country as much as voting for one of the 2 puppets put in front of you... Lower turnouts help the people who have agendas not in line with the public..

You can't be serious about that bit man. Like a week after he supposedly ended the war, some serious war shit went down. I don't remember exactly what it was but it wasn't indicative of something that was war ending.

Hawker knows what kind of treatment Paul gets in the republican party.. They laughed and mocked him right outta the 08 elections and then turned around and tried to co-op the energy he brought by taking up the tea party cause AFTER they got spanked by Obama...
Republicans are holding him back.... Im sure he has no desire to run independent mostly because of the rules making it soo tough, but the GOP is stifling his message....

The winner of the nobel peace prize has sent his own troops into armed conflict in three different countries since winning the award.
please show me the reports of us sending troops into Libya. Because of all the news I've heard, there are none. As I said before, its all air strikes. I guess you could say thats armed conflict but again, as I said before, it was more a decision by the UN than Obama.

I think he stands a very good chance of being re-elected. The republicans currently don't have a front-runner with as much political savvy and if a 3rd party candidate starts to garner a lot of support it will draw mainly from republican voters.
I hope Mitt Romney can start gaining some support. He's a guy who I can trust as President. I might cry if Pallin is nominated for Pres or Vice Pres

i would say theres a significantly less risk though then it seems when someone says "were sending troops to 3 countries,"(implying Libya). I'm not saying that doing the bombings isn't dangerous for the pilots and such, but its not like its all out war. Obviously one lost life is too much, but I can't imagine hearing any staggering numbers, if any, of US casualties because of this Libya situation.

Nothing is guaranteed. The problem with most third parties is that they seem to always focus on the Presidency or take a Senate or governorship. What they need is a long term strategy. Start small and build your way up while growing your base.

Obama is still polling very high relative to past presidents at this point in their first terms. Reagan's approval ratings were in the low-30s well over two years into his first term.
Obama is still consistently getting approval ratings in the mid-to-high 40s, which is pretty incredible. If the economy starts to turn around even a little bit by the next election, no Republican stands a chance.
As it is, with only modest improvements in the unemployment rate, he is shown in polls to beat any candidate currently on the radar. There is a reason Republicans are being apprehensive about running. Guys like Chris Christie are the future of the party... Populace candidates who actually have a shot to be elected.
He doesn't want to enter the race, though, without having a shot to win. He is waiting to see if Obama's popularity dips or if the unemployment rate raises before he throws his hat in the ring. The Republicans know that Obama is going to be very difficult to beat, which is why you may see a patsy candidate (like Dole was in 1996) and they save their big gun for 2016 when they don't have to run him against Obama.

It is a pretty bad lineup. When bomb-throwers and trouble-makers like Palin, Gingrich and Bachmann are being mentioned as serious contenders to lead the party in the next election, you know there are serious, serious problems.
Like I said in my above post, though... There are some 'better' candidates that they could go with that actually may have a realistic shot with the right climate between now and the election, but they do not want to waste them in a campaign that could end up being a total wipe-out for Obama.
Let's face it... Christie is their best guy. He is the only guy I see that has a legitimate shot. The fact that he is not giving in to the pressure of running yet and he is being so apprehensive tells you everything you need to know about the Republicans' feelings on the possibility of an Obama re-election.
Right now, it is looking VERY good for Obama... About as good as any president can possibly look in terms of re-election 2+ years in to their first term.
Chris has the best shot of any Republican... That said, I live close enough to Nj to know that Christie has warts too and I would be interested to see how those would play out in a presidential campaign...

All politicians have warts. The biggest hurdle that Christie may face is that the extreme right-wingers (which has become the base, somehow) may look at him as too moderate. His stance on social issues like abortion and welfare reform will get a lot of push back from the far right.
He would have to win a very sizable portion of the true 'undecideds,' and that happens to be a group that Obama is also very good at attaining and impressing.
I don't think Christie is going to run. I do think he will run in 2016, though, regardless of who the Democratic candidate is... And he will probably be the front-runner, unless something disastrous happens between now and then (six years is a LONG time in politics... Look at Elliot Spitzer).

Let's see, Bush didn't do anything to stop the terrorist attacks, and ignored constant warnings. Finds out a terrorist group from Afghanistan was responsible for 9-11, so he then goes and attacks Iraq because they have oil. Lies, says they have WMD's, they don't. We still going with the "he lied us to war" thing? Congress had the same information on Iraq that Bush had and voted to go to war (I believe the current secretary of state voted to go to war, no?). Props to Obama for voting against it. So we went to war with Iraq for oil, what evidence do you have of that? Correct me if I'm wrong but it was and is an expensive war, I don't see us gaining anything there. No doubt it was the wrong decision to go to war but at least we got rid of a ruthless dictator who tortured and killed (hundreds?) of thousands of his own people and at least tried to bring democracy there. Also, the Iraq war isn't nearly as expensive or the cause for our debt as you lead on. Social security, Medicare and Medicaid all cost more than the war. Like I said, Bush is a retard so I can cut him some slack for poor decisions. Obama on the other hand isn't mentally retarded so he has no excuse for this bullshit.

The concepts of Liberty and individual's rights to that which are his/hers are long since forgotten.
The whole system is now based on concepts and idea's that will surely lead to the down fall of this empire. American's are fed garbage from both sides while ultimately leading to the same system. That they are not smart enough to make choices for themselves. Economically, socially, etc, etc... The corrupt government and the corporations that control it due to it's corrupt state will continue to use and abuse their power and mis represent the population...
Only when it's far too late will we wake up and realize we're ****ed and have no chance of turning back.

Jesus christ stop blindly defending Shitbama because you like his speeches and think he's a cool guy. That's the same reason so many idiots defended Bush (he seems like a fun guy who I can just sit at the bar and have a beer with DURR DURR)
Obama as president is responsible to play the political game and get supporters to make his shit pass. Instead after his first few months in office he was so divisive and insulting that even his own party started going against him. He is only trying to please both sides now after he realized that telling the republicans to go f*ck themselves (basically what he did his first 6 months in office) only served to piss everyone off and make them not pass his propositions just to spite him.
Bush might have started oil wars but Obama keeps pumping more money and troops in to them even though he promised to pull out of both Iraq and Afghanistan during his campaign. Oh yeah Obama just started a new oil war in Libya, didnt you get the memo?
Shitbama is worse than George W Bush because he promised America so much more than Bush did but he is giving America even less.

For example McCain pretended to be hardnosed against gay marriage and abortion but Im certain once elected he would do absolutely nothing to try to make abortion or gay marriage illegal.
He's a pretty moderate guy and actually pretty intelligent, it's just a shame you have to act like a shotgun waving redneck to get elected to the republican party.
So retarded, that's also why Obama had to pretend to like hunting as well, a president will never get elected if he dont like his guns:facepalm
Bush is actually a relatively smart and calculating guy. Sure, hes not brilliant, but the whole "good ol' boy working on his ranch" image was entirely constructed.
Also, a president can do nothing about abortion, which is why its such a stupid false front issue to bring voters out every election. Until the supreme court rules on another case or the legislature passes a constitutional amendment, abortion will be legal in this country. The only impact a pres can have is indirect (appointing justices).

That is actually not correct.
How is it not?
The US Senate today voted overwhelmingly in favour of a war resolution that leaves the way clear for President Bush to use US military force against Saddam Hussein.
The Democratic-led Senate passed the measure by 77 votes to 23 early this morning, ending an often contentious week-long debate. The House of Representatives, the lower house of America's parliament, approved the resolution yesterday by 296 votes to 133.

All these guys agreed on the the Intelligence acquired at the time and acted on it.

they did not have access to the same intelligence as the admin. Its been shown time and time again that the intelligence shared with the legislature was cherry picked by the admin to present a stronger case for invasion.

The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

I had a strong feeling that once Obama took office and started getting regular briefings on what is really going on in the wars to keep our enemies at bay that he would change his pacifist tone.
