Celtics, Warriors And Kings Lead Hunt For Iverson
12th December, 2006 - 12:27 am

Newsday -

Boston was in the hunt for Allen Iverson on Monday, with a deal that would include Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff with his $11.7-million contract.

Jefferson said neither Rivers nor general manager Danny Ainge had spoken with him about it. "I don't want it to happen, especially my name involved in it," Jefferson said. Told after the game that Jefferson doesn't want to be traded, Rivers said: "He won't be. I try to stay out of it because I have to coach the players and I don't want to lie to the players. But I'm pretty comfortable in saying that Al will be here."

The Sixers reportedly want to include forward Chris Webber, who has $43 million remaining on his contract, but teams are backing away at that idea.

Golden State and Sacramento also appear to be among the teams most likely to acquire Iverson.

Indiana emerged Monday as a strong player, with discussions centering around Jamaal Tinsley and Stephen Jackson.

Man screw the Pacers. Who the hell wants Sjax and Jamaal Tnsley. First of all SJax is cancer, and is streaky and isn't that great and Jamaal well he is a walking accident. He is always bound to get injured, you can count on that every single seeason.

The Kings really need AI but I don't know if we'll get him. I'm still doubtful but eh, we're screwed now if we don't. Bibby will have to get traded anyway and I'm sure he knows he's been dangled for Iverson.

Its called Braids homie lol ..:) And I cant see him playing for the Pacers because anyone who has followed his career would tell you hes not too liked in indiana by the fans (racial slurs) Its all about him being on a team that needs his scoring (bulls,kings,T-wolves,Celts)

Just heard on TV that the Wolves are still involved in the teams that have a chance to get him as well as the Clippers.

Golden State has the pieces. Philadelphia would jump at a J-Rich/Monta Ellis/Pietrus deal, wouldn't they?

I don't think GS would do that trade. It doesn't really make them contenders. They'll have Baron and AI in the backcourt but what else would they have? Weak frontcourt, thin bench. Monta is probably there to stay.

if pacers for AI for Tinsely, Jackson and a first round pick, theyre line up would consist of

Iverson
Daniels
Granger
Harrington
Oneal

Crazy starting 5

AI wont wanna play for the pacers KKK fans im telling you people ..It may fit team wise ..but city wise AI doesnt like indiana and they dont like him ..(noone remembers Ind/Philly playoff rivalries where the fans yelled out racial slurs

After a 86-81 loss to the 76ers Jan. 28, Philadelphia's Allen Iverson said Indiana fans shouted racial slurs. And he responded by calling the pacer fan a F-A-G-G-o-T. Still a great destination for AI?

Thats like him agreeing to go to Utah and utah accepting him lol Iverson in utah ??Dont think so

well if you want to talk about cities, AI was interested in going to minni, im sure that place is no better than Indy...and thats how fans are, if youre on the opposing team, theyre going to literally hate you, especially when youre at AI's calibre, thats just natural...

Nope Minny is alot more hmm whats the word multi cultural than Indiana ..Remember the dude has to live there in that city during the season not only play for the team ..Its not like he will go back to philly..Plus A.I lives in Atlanta

Nah we're in the western conference, AI does not put us over Mavs, Spurs, or Suns. The Pacers would be the team most likely to be a contender with AI, or at least make it to the finals in the East.

out of those 4 teams

76ers May Trade Former MVP Allen Iverson by Tonight, ESPN Says

By Erik Matuszewski

Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) -- The Philadelphia 76ers may accept a trade offer for former National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Allen Iverson as soon as tonight, ESPN reports.

Iverson, 31, asked to be dealt and 76ers chairman Ed Snider said the team would accommodate the four-time scoring champion's request. Iverson, who is second in the NBA with a 31.2 scoring average this season, left the 76ers three days ago and ESPN said he'll be inactive for tonight's game against Portland.

76ers' officials met yesterday to go over trade proposals and continue today to review offers, including one or two potential three-team deals, ESPN said. Team officials would like to complete a trade by tonight or tomorrow, ESPN said on its Web site, citing an unidentified person close to Iverson familiar with the situation.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Bobcats and New York Knicks are among the teams to which Iverson may be traded, ESPN said. Iverson was the first pick in the 1996 draft and was voted the league's MVP in 2001, when he led the 76ers to the NBA Finals.

Doc Rivers said that Al Jefferson won't be traded last night, and Green is also supposedly off-limits in a potential Iverson deal, so the Celtics can probably counted out as Iverson's end destination. May be part of a three-team trade to facilitate the move but that's barely worth speculating over.

Al Jefferson I completely understand, but Gerald Green? It's simple... they don't want AI and they're looking for excuses when they're accused of messing this up. Gerald Green? :banghead:

Green being off-limits doesn't make me totally unhappy. At 20 years old he's third in the league in 3 pt percentage, he's as athletic as anyone (well, except for LeBron James), he's learning to defend and has shown some brilliant flashes (like that 16-point quarter a few nights ago). He's going to be a good player.
