Shaq had Achilles problems all season. He was Running up the court. I guess something popped. He barely made it to the tunnel and had to get a wheelchair to get him to the locker room.
They're saying it the calf muscle now. Will see I don't trust Celtics medical staff. They have a history of giving out misleading information.

Calf injuries are nagging and he is going to take longer to heal at this stage of his career. Huge blow to the Celtics

He didnt want the extension he was offered. Basically he was kind of low balled. I think he was offered 4 year 22 million. he got the max from OKC at 35 million over 4 years
but are all these injuries not because of shaq being overweight...?
Shaq was pushing 400 pounds back in 2002-03 and he only missed 15 games. His weight isn't the reason. He's 39 years old. He's old and needs to retire.

04-03-2011, 08:04 PM
Danny Ainge has all put shut the door on Celtics title hopes this year when he dealt away Perkins. I know he was thinking for the future, but winning a title is so tough to do and they had a championship caliber team so I am not sure why he make such a deal. He trusted Shaq would be back and trusts JO can make an impact too. Celtics window for a title is this year. They will still be a threat, but its not looking good

It didnt look good, sad because he scored 3 easy buckets and ate up space like he always does.
This just means Jermaine has got to be ready in the playoffs to go 20-25 mins. Jermaine actually potentially is a better option than Shaq for the fact that he can hit his free throws, score easy buckets and defend the pick n roll and paint better.
I hope shaq is ok. We will manage

If Shaq doesn't come back for the playoffs, the Heat will win that series. If Shaq does come back (which I think he will), then there is no question in my mind that the Celtics will take it.
He has a greater impact than most people realize. Regardless of the miles used on his legs.

I hope it is minor, but I began to lose hope in the celtics bigs a long time ago. I swear its something in the water in Boston.

hell ya he was. i just don't believe boston will make it to the finals without shaq. is he that important individually? of course not but boston put all their eggs in one basket when they traded perk. boston gave up one of the best defensive bigs in the game that is a legit starter to a questionable starter and less depth. shaq's presence alone helps greatly for rebounding and interior D. shaq could have also switched off on bosh if it came down to that. boston's rebounding is already hurting. i'm never gonna count the green out but just looking at it, they don't seem like the favorites of the east now. green is still learning the defensive system and gets caught in no man's land at times.

Just a question:
Is the rotation of Shaq, Jermaine O'Neal and Kristic really that much better than that of Dampier, Z and Anthony?
If so, by how much? 10%... 15? You take Shaq out of that lineup and it's arguably worse than what Miami has.
I'll still pick Boston in a series over Miami, but it's much closer now than it was two months ago.

Not to mention the Heat are ranked in the Top 7 in rebounding while the Celtics are one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA.
Those extra chances could be the difference in the series. Especially when those extra chances are by a team that's 2nd in the NBA for FG% (as the Heat are). I also see the Heat attacking the paint more in the playoffs and will do everything they can to get Garnett in foul trouble. The Heat have the 2 best drivers in the league and Riley teams are known for sacrificing possessions to get the best opposing big into foul trouble (they do it to dwight howard easily)
Forget the regular season. Spo admitted that we're keeping things in our pocket and saving plays for the playoffs (and you know the Celtics are #1 on their radar as the Big 3 admitted that at the allstar game - so the celtics would be the choice team not to show anything to)
. And Wade missed preseason with an injury and was not 100% in the first 2 meetings as he only averaged 20 points in the first month+ of the season and didn't look the same then (the 3rd meeting came down to the final shot)
and remember that Wade shot 57% and averaged 34 points vs the Celtics in last years playoffs. He's a playoff beast so i'm not worried about regular season results (especially when he missed so much time and obviously wasn't in game shape the first 2 matchups)

If he's done for the year , I can see Sheed coming back
but Shaq will be fine imo. Just rest him till the playoffs and give him 15 min a game tops.

Anyways... Shaq was shown to be able to walk on his own with a slight limp, so I'd expect him to be ready for the post season

Shaq will be fine, and besides, the Celtics only need him against the Lakers if it comes down to that.

If it comes down to that, his playing time will be limited. :confusedshrug:

It's obvious he's tired from all that riding on Wade's and Lebron's back.
Just look at Kobe, having to ride Gasol like a horse.

Bynum played only 17 minutes in the first matchup and the second matchup, the Heat only won by six. Which big is Miami going to depend on to stop Odom, Gasol, and Bynum?
Have you not learned yet ?? Lakers Bigs/Length are a non factor when they matchup with Miami. Their achilles heels in this matchup is their slow bigs. in the 2nd game, bynum had 1 rebound in the 1st 2 qtrs. He was beasting on the boards coming into this game.
