With one of the greatest basketball careers ever coming to a close...I just wanted to reflect on IMO the funnest player ever to watch,
Thanks for Slams, the poppin and lockin , the AMAZING left hand , the broken goal's , the shmoove rap , the smile , the parade's , the pepsi 40z , Kazzaam (ok maybe not), the Marching after a 4th quarter comeback , the fued's and the respect , the post game press conference's , the military mindset , biological father's , the truth ......there will never be another
Saw Shaq at the 2000 NBA Allstar game in Oakland....one in a million.
any stories or pics of Shaq welcome......(INB4 debates or flame wars...just reflection on Shaq...his personality on and off the court)

They had to change the design and structure of NBA basketball hoops because of him. The old apparatus literally could not work with him in the league.

Giant personality.....giant ego....giant head..giant heart (paid for Mikan's funeral and ALWAYS played Santa for hundreds of children each year)....giant talent.
top 5 Shaq Moments
5. outrageously funny interview on Stephen A. Smith's old tv show
4. Shaq having the nerve to complain about bad officiating and cursing on national tv
3. his reaction after kobe threw him the alley oop that broke Portland's back
2. good natured shaq laughing as hard as anybody when Aries Spiers destroyed him at Shaq's own all star comedy special
1. after getting the freeze out at his first all star game....he dunked on David Robinson so hard....I thought the admiral had a broken arm

The most physically gifted player to grace the NBA. Probably one of the greatest physical specimen in the history of sports. He is also one of the greatest personality in the NBA, I just hope he comes to Inside the NBA after he retires. He was the definition of unstoppable in his prime.
i appreciated his hustle, defense and rebounding more when he was with the magic. when he became a laker, those 3 things became less of a priority. and he got fatter each year living it up in LA. so really LA ruined shaq

It just sucks that Shaq wasted away his prime in Orlando and all we got to see in LA was over-the-hill fat Shaq. Hopefully Dwight learns a lesson from that and joins the Lakers while he's still young.
Not sure how he "wasted" away his prime in Orlando. He had a tremendous career in Orlando and competed for contention his last three years. From his first season in Orlando he was already a direct peer to the other all-time Bigs in the league. Can't really blame him that Hakeem and Jordan blocked him from a championship.
Majority consider his prime on the Lakers, when relative to the rest of the league, he was simply unstoppable.
+1
He faded under the bright lights. He's no Kobe.

Best player league has ever had after Jordan's retirement in 98.
2nd most successful player since 98. (1st Duncan.Tied at rings and FMVP.one more MVP)
Most dominant player in his prime.
Most dominant proof in Kobe arguments :)
I've got to say, as a Jordan fan that Shaq's prime could give Jordan a run for the money. The most dominant force I've ever seen play.

Was never a huge fan of him or his personality and still not a huge fan. Always thought he got away with a ton of offensive fouls, actually I know he did I don't think, and he's an egotistical douche IMO who is likable in some ways not so much in other ways. Obviously growing up he was a super-star in every sense, it wasn't till later that I came to respect his foot work and other less obvious skills accordingly. dude had amazing foot work and post game, outside of power and force. there's a billboard sign here in SA with his face on it advertising that high school he went to.

I'll never forget where I was when the news broke Shaq was signing with the Lakers in '96. Was in my Junior year at USC and me and my boys were on our way to Venice to play some ball and the radio station we were listening to in the car interrupted programming to break the news. We went CRAZY. High fiving and yellin "Hell F'n Yeah!". So much so my boy drivin started to swerve into the next lane. Long story short, Shaq signing with the Lakers was one of the greatest moments in LA Sports history. The city was buzzin like crazy for MONTHS. Shaq may not have left on good terms, but what he did for the Lakers franchise can never be forgotten, belittled or over-looked. He truly was the MDE while he was here and one of my favorite Lakers of all time.

I was about 5 years old when he came into the league. I was over at a neighbor's house watching the Pistons play the Magic, the neighbor was a then 49 year old man who said when he saw Shaq,
"This guy will be a monster when he gets older. You just watch, there won't be a player like him for years. I've never seen anyone like him before and there are not enough words to describe this guy. Just amazing."
I had his rookie card when I was a kid. I should look for it. I was lucky to see Shaq in his entire career. I was a huge fan of Shaq when I was a little kid because he was just so goddamn dominant.

A truly unique & gifted specimen with a vibrant personality that could light up the universe. A man who never met a camera he didn't like, but one who could back up his outspoken banter with action on the court. A one in a billion athlete who will be sorely missed once he decides to hang em up which in all probability will be at this seasons end. I hold nothin but the utmost respect & admiration for the big Diesel - aka the Big Cactus - aka the Big Shamrock - aka Superman - etc

I couldn't stand him in his prime with the Lakers, but at the end of the day, he has been a rather unique force on and off the court. He will be missed, and with many players in that 7'0 range being perimeter oriented, we are unlikely to see another Shaq for quite some time.

Well, I agree he is in the top 50 (top 10 if you ask me) but at the time they had that 50 of all time, I don't think Shaq should had been a part of it. He was in his 4th or 5th year. Pippen was also questionable to me at the time.

everyone was screaming at Shaq for an Autograph....he(My buddy) said "Mr. Oneal" instead of screaming "Shaq"....so Mr.Oneal came over and signed an autograph for him and thanked him for calling him "Mr.Oneal"...he then left everyone else....Shaq walked away and smiled.
