Winnable series for the Knicks, but going to be difficult.

Rather play the Heat because the Heat play dysfunctional against the Knicks for some reason.

At first i was like :wtf: the celts lost to the wizards?! But then saw i the boxscore and their 4 main guys didnt play. So i guess the celts do not care who they play in the first round. I say celts in 6 or 7.

BTW, that s going to be the most exciting first round match-up. I see the Knicks giving the Celtics a good fight!

Boston plays defense, D'Antoni ball doesn't. That'll be the difference in the series.

Knicks score 120 against no defense.

Knicks score 110 against solid defense.

Knicks score 95-100 against good defense. (Boston)

We just have to outscore them. :D

I'll be surprised if the Celtics don't get shook from the "Boston Sucks" chants that will be reining in game 3 and 4. I honestly believe that the 19,763 fans for the Knicks at MSG in the playoffs will be the 6th man, cause that crowd will be vicious.

But, Pierce, Allen, Garnett, Rondo, they love that sh*t.

Ok I see people already like analysts expecting an upset with the knicks beating bos.

Boston in 5. Some weaknesses to exploit....

-Attack Amare toward the paint, The guy is bound to make 1-2 stupid fouls that take him out the game. If Im Doc Rivers I tell Rondo to penetrate the paint along with PP. Amare is no slouch, but hesn ot Dwight Howard.

-I dont think Billups can hang with Rondo, Rondo needs to cover him and limit those 3s from Tony Douglas who kinda reminds me of Tony Delk.

-Melo has an advantage but PP will get his and near match him most nites.

BOS in5.

Amare wont be matched up on KG, and if he is..KG's length still allows him to score over him.

Melo is better, but even at his best defensively, he doesnt check PP as bad as Dengdoes. I expect PP to have a 22-24ppg series, will be moving and not buy into an ISO war.

Billups may be clutch, but Rondo in Playoff mode is more aggressive and will cause fits.

KG vs. Amare (didn't seem like they ever liked one another ever since Starbury)

Melo has a greater chance to make stupid fouls than Amare so I think Pierce should be doing the exploitation. He is the key for C's to win the series.

Knicks are on a winning streak and the Celtics are playing their worst ball of the season... with that being said.. Celts in 6....

The pace of the game is slowed down in the playoffs and that obviously favors Boston.. Defense matters more than ever and the Knicks play none, so easy pick for me... Expect scores in the 80's...

Melo and Amare can be successful if the didn't have some broke ass defensive players at PG, SG, and C. They just can't be expected to win anything with no defensive talent/effort around them. Then, even Knicker fans know, their "Head Coach" is a bogus punk who doesn't care one iota about what wins Championships. D'Antoni, the soft euro, only cares about offensive stats. Loser, Grade A weenie!

this series will be about ball movement and defense for the new york knicks. aside from wade's outburst last year, it has been proven that you cannot play one on five iso ball against the celtics. I hope carmelo anthony gets that through his head, because, believe it or not, he is the main predator of their ball movement. when billups was out, melo put a string of 4 straight games with 5 or more assists--something I don't think I've ever seen him do with denver. I think this winning streak may hurt them because they've somewhat found success playing low percentage basketball. if they try this in the playoffs I predict they'll get smoked. so, if the knicks depend on isolation and play little to no defense-the celtics take it in five games. if the knicks decide to move the ball and give at least 85% effort on defense-- the knicks or the celtics take the series in 6 or 7 games.

For all those who say "Boston in 4" I have to remind you that Celtics have never swept anyone.
Actually they played 7 games in the 1st round twice in 3 years.

2010:
1st round - vs Miami in 5 games
2nd round - vs Cleveland in 6 games
Conference Finals - vs Orlando in 6 games
Finals - vs Lakers lost in 7 games

2009:
1st round - vs Chicago in 7 games
2nd round - vs Orlando lost in 7 games

2008:
1st round - vs Atlanta in 7 games
2nd round - vs Cleveland in 7 games
Conference Finals - vs Detroit in 6 games
NBA Finals - vs Lakers in 6 games

Just some things to note before the series starts:

1. No matter what the media tries to tell you, this is NOT a rivalry. Bos is one of the two great franchises in NBA history. While NYK is one of the flagship franchises and one of the early franchises, historically, its barely an average franchise. A rivalry between the cities -- maybe -- but the NBA teams, it really isn't.

2. Boston has three massive advantages in this series: 1) time spent winning together; 2) speed at the point; and 3) best defender at NYK's best offensive player's position.

3. NYK have some advantages too: 1) they are playing well right now, while Bos is not; 2) Melo's clutch-ness can make up for some of their inexperience with each other; 3) historically Amare plays well against KG; and 4) Billups should be able to get whatever shot he wants against a smaller Rondo -- question if he can make them

4. They've played each other close all season in 2 really good games so there's reason to expect a close series.

5. Garden getting its first playoff action in years. If this thing gets to a Game 6 and the NYK show any kind of life - the place is going to be completely insane.

I'm excited for it.

Isn't just Boston, which was my point guy.

The good thing about KG is that he will keep Amare focused, which is key. Mello and Billups will keep their matchups honest if not in their favor... but Amare has to hold ground. I think Douglas will be our hidden weapon... outside of team ball and defense. Boston will loose one of the first two and that's the edge the Knicks need coming back to the Garden.

I do think this will be better than the four/five matchup because Atlanta likes to lay down. Maybe they will play inspired this year but its getting sickening with them.

The last thing Beantown needed in the 1st round was an explosive, speedy team like the Bricks.

Still, C's in 6, wheelchairin' to the 2nd .You n!ggas is food after this series.

It's roughly 215 from NYC.

The guys are just getting on me because I put the Steelers as a hated team from that Boston area.

Should be a great series.

Heard on First Take that a poll had the Celts as either the team that 60% of voters thought would be upset or 60% thought would be most likely to be upset. Not sure which.

Anyway...I obviously think the Cs will win but NY has been hotter of late, maybe they're figuring out what they need to do to play well together. I like the Cs better with Shaq but think they can take NY without him. Rondo needs to push it vs. Billups, but I wouldn't be shocked to see NY crossmatch Fields onto Rondo and Billups on Allen. Melo must commit to defending Pierce to his best ability for whole games and not just the clutch, because if Pierce has it going throughout the game he's not going to fail in the clutch. And NY needs to go back to featuring STAT, especially if he's being defended by Baby, Krstic, Green or Murphy. Hopefully they don't.

Chauncey is no longer able to sustain great defense. Ray Allen I think would love to tire Billups out. Billups will get lazy and fall asleep.

I think Rondo is better than Chauncey now and needs to go at him hard.

PP will have an easier series offensively because it gets brutal with lebron and Deng who have his number.

This is the best thing that could have happened to Boston and the worst thing that could have happened to NYK. Everyone thinking upset is gonna get a taste of reality real soon, even if NY beats Boston in the last game of the reg. season.

Boston's entire offense is predicated on getting in transition, that is the only way the Knicks play. NY is going to play right into the hands of Boston.

I see STAT having a monster series scoring wise because no one on Boston can match him.

I hope the pg matchup will be fun. Rondo has trouble defending big pg's but at this stage he will go right around Chauncey a lot, especially off those double screens.

Who's being irrational? The Heat would have been a better opponent matchup wise, no question. Who's saying otherwise?

But the Celtics do appear mortal......but I still think we don't have enough horses to compete. We traded all our depth to the Kniggets.

Most people aren't picking an upset. Not from what I have seen at least. From what I see the rational people are saying this will be a tough series and will go probably 6 games. The irrational people to me are the ones who are saying the Celtics will steamroll the Knicks.

those ESPN polls are crap, just a bunch of sheep following whatever those ignorant "analysts" say. and those guys just copy one another. so if one idiot says something stupid, about 75% of the rest will agree with that idiot, and the rest will disagree just to disagree not particularly because they actually feel a certain way.

Knicks look good, but if they win 3 games against Boston I will be surprised. I got Boston in 6. Like Bagelred said, they are short one or two horses, and about 2 legit bigs, S. Williams aint a big, Amare is kind of a big but he don't post nor rebound well enough.

Better question: Who's Garden will be more rockin'?

MSG hasn't had playoffs since the first Bush administration. And Boston is, well Boston Garden, those maniacs are crazy.

This one is easy -- MSG. Bos is expected, by its fans, to win - not just this series but the whole thing. They fall behind, its going to be nervous quiet.

MSG is ready to explide with any positive results.

Thats a good rationale.

I can't wait to watch game 3, NY fans finally getting some playoff loving. It like a married guy who finally gets some after months of his wife not being "in the mood"

hopefully he can last long enough so she can get hers...
