2Pac has be be 1st on the list. Whiteboys sure do love themselves some 2Pac.

I'll exclude Eminem because that's his only fan base.

Jay Z has to be up there. Don't forget Wu Tang (mostly Asians kids). White folks are also in awww with some Snoop D-O-double-Gizzle-4-Shizzle-4-Rizzle-My-Nizzle(:facepalm)

I want Legend of Josh and Ass Dan to come and confirm this.

Out of all the rap artists I have I enjoy Nas the best. I love have loved his last four albums he's came out with. Between the new artists that use electro-hop, like Lupe, B.o.B. and Kid Cudi. I think I like B.o.B. the most

Freddie Gibbs

Mos Def
Mobb Depp
Reflection Eternal
Marcelo D2
Old Jay Z

and then some The Game, Damu the Fudgemunk, Kanye West, Odd Future, old Nas, CL Smoth, Tayyib Ali, Old 50 cent, J Cole, RBL Posse etc ..

the vast majority of hip hop fans are white.

the labels are white (even most black owned labels answer to larger white conglomerates).

a lo of producers, promoters, sound technicians, agents are white.

crackers are runnin this game.

in fact some white dude in a suit with an MBA had a bunch of white, Asian and East Indian dudes run a bunch of numbers, and they decided that you'd most want to hear rappers who talk about sex, guns, cars, money, drugs and violence, because those are the same things that get suburban white kids hyped.

therefore they only sign rappers who write about that kind of shit, no thoughtful rappers, no Native Tongues, no black empowerment, just junk food for the masses.

most rappers have the persona of WWE wrestlers (only less believable). "I be clockin bank":oldlol: ...the f*ck you are, you can't afford shit, you're a stage performer, not a millionaire artist.

i dont know who my favorite rapper is, but some tops are sadistik and immortal technique, lupe fiasco, tupac.

thing is though, most the white people i know listen to the mainstream shit. Today's mainstream hip hop was made to appeal to white people. Record exec's saw white people started buying hip hop a lot when Tupac came out so they tried to cater to white people and that's how we have the mainstream hip hop we do now. I read something like 70% of hip hop CD sales come from white people.

fun story about the "snoop dogg" part-i got mail from Cornell University and they had a snoop dogg concert, EVERYONE in the crowd was white.

that is the basic truth about what happened to hip hop music... that stuff saturates the market because big time companies he seen that crimes and drugs and hoes and tuff talk sells... It is truly some lame ass WWF type sh*t..

most people who grew up on hip hop dont even listen this stuff anymore because its not hip hop anymore... its pop hop or some bastardized frankenstein music...

I couldnt even point out gucci man if the mofo walked by me on the street...

of course there are more overall white people listening to hip hop and enjoying it because there are more white people in america you degenerate.:lol But there are far more white folks listening to other things that hate rap. for every 4 white people you see, only one is into hip hop. But for every 4 blacks you see, atleast 3 of them are into hip hop.

but their list of favorite rappers are pretty limited. In todays hip hop white boys are either singing the lyrics of deep deep underground rappers or guys like ones I just listed fakkit. Only albums white people are buying Raekwan, Em, Snoop, Pac(dead, so he doesn't count) and a few of the ones I liste in the first post.

It's still more blacks listening to Drake, Ross, Jada, Wayne, wale, nicki, etc who happen to be a few of the rappers holding hip hop down. most of their fan base are blacks. add Jay too.

But the ones you listed are all big names with much larger fanbase. If you look into independent record labels from different areas it's pretty clear the fanbase isn't diverse at all. This is even more apparent if you follow the tour of some of these underground artists. In my experience most of the Atmosphere fans are suburban whites. Is that bad? Course not. But the stereotype exists because there are some truth to it.

like I said, Im old school and so are the people I socialize with...

I know black people who know of JMT and have respect for that style, but I dont know any black people that would BUY any of the stuff coming out today that isnt from someone established..

Matter of fact, old heads are going BACK in time to pick older records that they used to have and wanna hear again rather than some of the current/new stuff out..

people I know listen to 90s hip hop and have started listening to other kinds of music and building up collections of older stuff..

Me personally, I listen mostly to Bob Marley these days.. Some old school R&B.... Some good 90's house music, and some old school hip hop...

Re: The bolded:

If you find yourself in a social situation where you are asked to list your favorite actor or artist, you should always say Mos Def. This way you can name someone that everyone has heard of and you don’t look like you are trying to one up anybody. The only possible negative consequence is some white people might think “I wish I had said that first.”

now you are just trolling.

Hip hop and Rap certainly has a larger % of black population than white population...

You will rarely see a black guy listening to rock, heavy metal or pop. Where i currently live thats mostly what white guys listen to. Or they will blast some club music which i dont consider rap or hip hop.

Black people are almost all into rap, hiphop and RnB

can't speak for the states, but here hip hop taste is generally accounted for by the social circle a person operates in instead of race (although we don't have many black people here).

for instance:

metalheads/prog fans - wu-tang, jedi mind tricks, ill bill/non phixion

hipsters - kanye, cool kids, DOOM, tribe

teeny boppers - wayne, kayne, jay-z (empire state of mind)

etc etc

Haven't played at all for probably 6 months. I am true degenerate/action junkie so it's very difficult for me just to play part time and not get wrapped up in it. Got a real job so been focusing most of my energy on that and girlfriend + my newfound love for skiing and also surfing.

My advice would be just to try and relax and not over think things but also think things out (if that makes any sense). Poker on a fundamental level is pretty much comes down to making the right decision more times than not. You can beat yourself up trying to overanalyze things. I've played my best poker when I'm relaxed and dialed in. Also don't be scared money! Try and hone in and listen to your instincts as well (very hard to do).

PS @ a loose 1/2 game I would just try and play ABC poker and you'll profit if you don't tilt and remain focused.

It just seems like I can't bluff worth a $hit... I get too impatient and I try to
make a "move"

but my question really is more about... right when you sit down at a table,...
do you fold most of the hands you've been dealt in order to get a read on
the other players at the table?

I'm thinking next time i sit down at a 1-2 table I'm gonna fold the first
20 hands (unless the cards are great).... Just so I can "analyze" who
I'm up against and get a feel for the flow of the game.

Is that what you do?

That is a very smart approach. It's very wise to just sit back and observe who you're up against. If you see someone who is steam rolling try to avoid pots against them and also pick on passive players, etc. I play a style that is referred to as TAG (tight and aggressive). I don't play a lot of pots but I win almost any hand that is shown down and it enables me to really pick my spots when I bluff (which is more often then people think).

As far as bluffing is concerned convince yourself that you have a good hand. Try and think about how you'd extract the most amount of money if you had the nuts.

You see... I tried that.

Last time I played at a 1-2 table was last year in Vegas... Did everything
I could possibly do to act "confident" that my hand was better than his.

He had a pair of Aces with a 10 kicker... and called me.

MFer was suppose to fold.

There was one time I "retired" from cards because of the bad beats.

I go all in with KK and the other guy has AA.

I go all in with AA and the other guy has 77 and hits his trips.

I mean what the f*ck am I suppose to do? wait until I get in a situation where
I have the "nuts"?

and I always hate the situation where you have something like Jack/10 suited... it's $15 dollars to see the flop... and you have to call right?

right?

Depends on the situation. If I'm the button, how many people are in the pot, if it is a profitable situation in the long run. Various factors come into play. I try to analyze each decision individually. There are times that I fold J10S preflop or times when I call or even times when I might raise. Stack size, position, player tendencies, etc. These are all examples of the intricacies involved with decision making.

As far as the other stuff is concerned that's part of the game. That's why it's so sick. If you put in enough hands hopefully the bad luck levels out. Very few people are unlucky over a large sample i.e. the long run.

That's what I did when I was in Vegas, and it failed me, though I was rusty. Everyone seemed to be aggressive when they had a hand, and nobody seemed to be bluffing nor setting traps. Anyway, I ended up getting trapped and lost my money. The good thing was I was rusty so I didn't gamble with much money. I'd say that if you're rusty, then don't play nl.
