View Full Version : April 28: Playoffs Round 1: Lakers at Hornets, Game 6

AirTupac
04-28-2011, 08:04 AM
The AP reports: Two transcendent playoff performances by Chris Paul made the Hornets’ first-round series with Los Angeles far more interesting than the defending champion Lakers would have preferred. The question now is whether the Hornets’ four-time All-Star can summon another big game back in the Big Easy on Thursday night. At the very least, Paul welcomes the pressure that comes with a game in which a loss ends the season for his team. “This is all or nothing for us,” Paul said. “I can’t wait.” When Paul has been sensational—with his 33-point, 14 assist performance in Game 1 and his triple-double in Game 4—the Hornets have pulled out a pair of hard fought victories. In the series’ other three games, when Paul has still been exceptional, but short of dominant, the Lakers have won—including twice by double digits. Now ahead 3-2 in the series, Los Angeles needs only one more win to dispatch pesky New Orleans. If the Lakers own key statistical categories as thoroughly as they did in their 106-90 Game 5 triumph on Tuesday night, the series isn’t likely to make it back to the West Coast for Game 7.

Thursday Night!

LA needs this game.

The one thing that's bothered me this whole series is Gasol's defense on landry. He always lets him drive baseline which leads to landry doing reverse layups to avoid the blocked shot. Force him to the middle!

Kobe Bryant has scored at least 30 points in 8 consecutive road close out games. This is an NBA record.

Second behind Bryant for the 30+ point streak is Elgin Baylor (6), while Michael Jordan did it 5 straight times. Tip now.

04-28-2011, 08:31 PM
That last play pretty much sums up the New Orleans Hornets in their losses. Chris Paul comes off a screen wide open and won't shoot. Instead he gives it to a player who has no business creating a shot and he bricks it horribly. If Paul is gonna play like that the game is over.

crosso√er
04-28-2011, 08:32 PM
LA imposing their will defensively, struggling offensively.
Keep up the effort; Portland/Dallas is going to seven with Portland winning.

It'll give Kobe and company some much needed rest before the second war begins. I don't want to see game seven with Paul on the opposite end; he's too good of a player and could easily carry his team to win.

We must end it tonight!

He's barely guarded him. His ass got crossed to no return when he was on Jack just a few minutes ago.

I hope so. If the Lakers flame out early and Gasol continues to play like this I wouldn't be surprised if they put him on the trade market. I'm not saying they should, but the Lakers clearly need to refuel and unless someone wants to take on Bynum there isn't much to be had.

He scored his first basket like a minute before the halftime.

Paul doesn't even try to penetrate,he stands around perimeter and gives the ball to his teammates.

Yeah it was; that punk clearly tried to push Kobe when he was in mid-air. I actually wanted Barnes/Artest to punch that scrub, piece of shit.

they done that shit before to Kobe too. most dangerous foul in NBA is the midair push.

Give the Lakers GM alot of credit.. He got together a team that is going to be almost impossible to beat... The size, talent, experience and toughness is just overwhelming for most teams.. CP3 can't do it with the band of scrubs and he has played as great as anyone will ever play in a playoff series...

Only chance the Hornets had to win this series was a injury to kobe and one of the other bigs as well... But give CP3 credit he made this a very nice series to watch.. Kind of scared me cuz I have some good money on the series.. But at the end of the day the Lakers are stacked and the Hornets are in need of talent..

Chris Paul -

4 points, 2-7 FG
7 rebounds (very good average during this series)
9 assist

Honestly, in a game where his team could be eliminated, I don't see Derrick Rose with just 4 points. He would give it his try and I don't care if he went 4-18 at least you know he's giving it his all.

I love Paul as a PG but I feel he does disappear too much at times.

It worries me how Gasol is still playing so poorly for his standards. I suppose part of the reason is because Bynum has stepped up, but Pau just isn't being as aggressive as he should be. The Lakers won't win anything with Pau playing like this.

Kobe Bryant has the all-time lead for 30-point playoff road games when
his team has the chance to clinch.

Kobe Bryant - - 8 Games
Elgin Baylor - 6 Games
Michael Jordan - 5 Games
Oscar Robertson -4 Games

and this is a playoff road games with a chance to clinch.
