The AP reports: The arrival of Kendrick Perkins was expected to give the Oklahoma City Thunder the kind of inside muscle they needed to stand their ground with some of the NBA

I'd like to think OKC comes out and makes a statement game but really, I don't know what to expect. They're a resilient team but this is the postseason and they're super young.

The pressure is all on OKC. There really is no pressure on Memphis what so ever.

B-Rich

I dunno about OKC... All I know is the Grizzlies are play amazing ball without Rudy Gay. Honestly, Z-Bo is tearing up. I think the Grizzlies will win it again tonight. I just don't see the Thunder winning tonight. But, they are at home, and down one game to an 8th seed... They must be bad, but still even if they lost the first game, there is still chances of them thinking they'll breeze through the series.

Grizzlies take it in the range of 5-10.

Maybe it is. I don't care for it either, TBH, but it's not like it's new. He can only do it when people crowd him. It's part of the game, so I expect him to use anything that's part of the game to his advantage. Players know you can throw him off his game by getting up in his business. This is his way to counter that. It'll teach them to back off. I doubt you'll see them crowd him like that again. Mission accomplished.

It was like 96-76, I change channels, flip back to catch the post-game show, and OKC was only up 104-98. What the hell happened?

Westbrook started chucking..

I'm surprised how bad OKC has looked all game. If Maynor didn't get some lucky shots they could've easily lost this game.
It wasn't luck, Maynor has a pretty consistent jumper.

Yea leading every quarter and 20 midway through 4th quarter was all luck. Actually Memphis got lucky Westbrook started chucking again. Seriously sometimes you would not believe the best scorer in the league is on court with the way Westbrook behaves.

Though I have to say I'm really proud of how far Maynor has come since his Jazz days

Harden vs Mayo battle. Harden is winning though. hes gonna be a special player very soon

It was fun as hell to watch Harden and Mayo go at it. Harden won the battle tonight, both going to do some damn things in the NBA

Now we have to protect our house

Zbo and Gasol got murdered tonight.

You can say what you want about the game tonight but Scott Brooks straight out-coached Lionel Hollins tonight. Adjustments, rotations, everything. That's why OKC won.

No, Collison did. Seriously.

I don't think it was a matter of coaching because everytime Hollins would call a time out he got his team to increase the defensive pressure and they usally always started to go on a run and push the ball inside. Hollins told them not to forget their identity and they kept fighting and pounding the ball in the paint and took a 20 point lead down to single digits.

More than anything bench production was the thing that won the game for okc imo.

The biggest difference is Gasol and Randolph didn't shoot like 75% combined from the floor. The Thunder did a better job of challenging their shots, making them pass or put the ball on the floor. Game 1 they were content to let them shoot from the outside and learned they can't do that.

If the Thunder can keeping taking away the inside stuff that Gasol and Z-bo get they will win this series. Conley & Mayo stepped up last night and it still wasn't enough. Memphis really wants to dominate the paint, and once you take that away, they really struggle.

I'm of the mind that the team that protects the paint will win this series. I know, not shocking, but I think it's that obvious.

I don't know about that. I think OKC has to do what Memphis did and at least get one of the 2. Let's just pretend that OKC loses the next game and wins 4 and 5. Then they would only need to win one out of the next 2 games. If Memphis can protect their home floor then it's over.

Maybe the Celtics were right about Kendrick Perkins:

This guy wasn't getting a bit overrated, wasn't he? Even accounting for his defense prowness, those aren't great boxscores. That's Jared Jeffries scoring territory.

Perkins' importance doesn't show up in the box score.

I agree with that, I am a big Celtics fan too so I know what you mean.

I think last night was the worst combined games I've seen Randolph and Gasol have since they started playing together. Still the Grizzlies scored over 100 points (over their average) and were within single digits so I'm not worried yet. It was a weird game for them and Maynor and Harden were killing it.
