The funniest part of the commercial is the dude in the grey shirt that says "Your moves are just gay" never denounces the language. ;)
And I like how the commercial makes it seem acceptable to berate people and just talk shit in general, as long as you're not attacking their sexual preference... lol... hey fat ****, the only triple doubles you get come with fries... lol...

America is hypersensitive to anything that even seems anti gay because of the suicides and gay beatings.
As awful as those things are I don't think that trying to take the phrase "that's gay" out of people's vernacular is going to help. It's a smart but it's a tiny microscopic start.
The commercial just makes people say more gay jokes really

This is not a free speech issue. The government will not arrest you for using the word gay when trash talking. It's not illegal to use speech that shows you are an asshole. Freedom of speech doesn't prevent others from calling you out on being an asshole.

You people on here are completely pathetic lowlifes.
"Freedom of Speech" has nothing to do with this. They aren'y trying to arrest anybody. There's a difference between what is legally allowed and what is morally correct.

Interestingly enough, I just went on the website they put up at the end of that commercial and it says that that ad was recorded prior to Kobe's comment being made. On the same day actually.
http://blog.glsen.org/2011/04/executive-director-eliza-byard-responds.html
Hours before five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant uttered an anti-gay slur during a basketball game Tuesday, NBA players Grant Hill and Jared Dudley entered the US Airways Center in Phoenix to serve as role models of a very different kind.
The Phoenix Suns teammates -- players who proved to be as gifted off the court as on it -- filmed a public service announcement for GLSEN, the Ad Council and the NBA as part of the "Think Before You Speak" campaign. The message is one we very dearly wish had been heard a few hundred miles away in Los Angeles.
Using anti-gay language is wrong. Always. Whether you mean for it to hurt someone or not.
The PSA, which will air during the NBA playoffs, is part of GLSEN and the Ad Council's effort to address anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender language among teenagers. The NBA loved the campaign created by ArnoldNYC, which launched in 2008, and asked to get involved. We couldn't have asked for a better partner, in terms of passion for the message and commitment to its success.
None of us could have imagined how timely the campaign would become...

It's not that small in the grand scheme of things. Know a kid that went and shot a couple people in a supermarket just because he had been called a couple anti-gay slurs a couple weeks before in the store. The people he shot were not the people that called him names, so other people suffered for the stupidity of others.
Does the world need to stop being so sensitive? **** yes. Do people need to learn to keep their ignorant mouths shut? **** yes.

I still wonder if Memphis traded Kevin Love to Minnesota for O.J Mayo because they didn't want Gay-Love associated with the Grizzlies and all the negative jokes that would follow.
Sort of like the University of Hawaii changing their name to Warriors instead of the old "Rainbow Warriors"..........they took the Rainbow off the helmets and logos and changed the colors and design thanks to the gays adopting it.
Funny, if you call someone a "F@G" in London they will hand you a cigarette......I guess athletes don't get fined for that word over there :oldlol:
Eh......I'll still use the terms, all their commercials will have no effect on me, I think if anything these guys should be warned and not fined.

No, I was not. I have morals. I realize that everybody deserves to live a life without abuse, verbal or physical. Unfortunately there are still people stuck in the life of those that lived centuries ago.
It's a new age. Just like the minorities deserve to be treated equally without racism, gay people deserve to be treated without abuse.
And no, it's not any different from racism to call somebody a *******.

True, but I have NEVER heard it used on the basketball court the way that dude did in the commercial. I call people and/or their moves and/or calls soft, bitchmade, punk ass, ho- ass, etc. all the time but never gay. No one should offend anyone, but it will happen, and when it does, those who are offended should examine themselves to find any truth in that offense. If it's just an ignorant offense it should be ignored, but if the comment that offends them is on a real character flaw or wrong doing, then it should be considered.
The problem is that the world is full of misplaced hate and mistrust. There will always be discrimination as long as there is difference in opinions. Opinions are just a matter of perspective and convenience, but the truth brings freedoms and justice to all.
The truth is that we are flawed and need guidance. Our parents raised us in a specific way and our societies reinforce different values in all of us. How can we all agree on everything when so many variables give us identity? And how can we be individuals with no differences between all of us? We can come under the banner of a nation, an organization, a movement, a name, but even within a family there will be disagreement.
So what's the answer to our problems? There is no answer to our differences but there's a solution to us growing apart as a family, community, nation and as humans, and that is forgiveness.
We should be humble and accept our inability to please everyone with all our actions, choosing to live with a forgiving heart and a will to ask for forgiveness. But real forgiveness begins with a decision to love others as we would want others to love us.
Failing to please all shouldn't be an obstacle to stop caring, or an excuse to abuse our liberty of speech. It should be an encouragement for us to examine ourselves to be better for others through real love. Because real love can be seen and it spreads around from one person to others. Only a real love for others will see through offenses and wrongs to offer forgiveness.
We may find ourselves not accepting the action of others, but those actions shouldn't stop us from being humble, working through our differences to offer love and ask or give forgiveness. That will sometimes begin by understanding that even the smallest word or action can hurt us and others.

This is how I've always felt.
I'm confident enough to know if someone's insults are bogus and insignificant, or if they make a point about something i could improve.
so its pretty cut and dry. if their insult is misguided, i dont care one bit if they go on saying it till their voice is hoarse. if its something accurate, then i'd rather hear it and know it and change it.
seriously, people who cry over insults are......... well..... take a guess.

That's pretty ignorant. Then why use slang at all? Maybe we should all use words that actually describes what we're attempting to describe? Look, I don't care about your personal life, point is, it should be super obvious that you can't say whatever you want at work. Courts are going to rule in favor of the employer if they fired an employee due to them making derogatory and inflammatory remarks. If you don't like working for someone that doesn't accept that than you are free to find another place of employment that will. If Noah doesn't like conducting himself in a way that is mandated under league policy, he can go work somewhere else if he so chooses. The whole issue has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

Personally i say,"wow that was mad gay", or "this song is gay",etc... I don't mean to disrespect gay people its just a word thats part of my lingo.
After seeing this video, i will try to stop saying it, Grant Hill is right it's not original.. and its pretty classless.
Keep in mind that I am against gay marriage, and homosexuality in general, but they are human beings and we live in America. So yeah.... op is a ******* btw
