He'll wear a splint for remainder of Finals.

(Yes, he's right-handed.)

its gonna hurt his left hand dribble drives. i can see the heat forcing him to drive left more.

Dirk could have 10 functioning hands and 50 working fingers and it still won't help the Cavs ( i mean the Mavs) to win this series.

I tore the tendon in my ring finger once playing roman knuckles and that shit was terrible

I have a torn ligament on my left thumb, which is my off hand. For the guy that thinks it will effect his left handle dribble drives then you are wrong. It doesn't really effect shooting either though.

Wouldn't worry too much about it. He needs to get better at the boards, though. His shots will fall sooner or later and the refs will not keep allowing that much contact on him.

Sad to hear it, although good its not his shooting hand.

I have also torn a tendon in my left hand. I'm sure each tear is unique and different, but my case sounds a little similar to Dirk's, in that my finger sort of shriveled up and I couldn't straighten it back out. I have to say, it wasn't terribly painful. It was more disconcerting because I didn't know if I had insurance to cover it. The splint should help alleviate the straightening issue, obviously.

If Lebron announced he has torn tendon after losing game 1, ISH would called it fake.

Dirk With the Excuses... :facepalm

If it was an excuse he would say it was on his shooting hand you moron. He even deflected talk about it in the post game. He played like shit and he knows it. He doesn't need excuses. He hasn't his entire career why start now?

every person that hates the heat will say that the ring doesnt count because dirk was "injured", everybody will say wade got too many freethrows the first time and he got injured the second, "poor dirk he desrves those fluke heat championships!" and im sure he'll say something like" it was too bad I got injured we couldve won" I expect refs to be the main excuse though

The Heat can whack at it and it's going to be harder for him to rebound and stuff with the pain from it bothering him. It's not a huge injury, but it will affect him a little.

Who cares what people who hate the Heat have to say? As a fan all you should care about is the team and their accomplishments. Success will always gain hate, circle of life. F the haters let them say what they want.

Mavs might have collection of star caliber players but none of them have heart of a champion.

Function of ligaments is completely different from the function of a tendon. A ligament tear on a finger is almost meaningless in any movement. A tendon tear, depending on where on the finger could limit motions of the finger, if not at-least the resting position of the finger.

That being said, a middle finger tendon tear shouldn't cause that much problem with his dribbling, but if you want a feel of what it will be like for him...just dribble a basketball without letting the middle finger touching the ball. That's what it's going to feel like for him more or less.

Yet your post was accusing Dirk of making excuses, not his fans. Dirk has never used excuses as crutches like a sore elbow or a dislocated shoulder for example. So defensive you Heat (bandwagon) "fans" are.

kind of weird how dirk was so candid about how it could limit him. i don't think it'll affect him all that much but it's notable that he likes to drives to his left and well, he dribbles with his left hand that way.

hmm, so idk. miami was actually forcing him to the middle in game 1 as i stated. they were trying to keep him from shooting over his right shoulder and varying up double teams and personnel. lebron never even really guarded him.
