You're supposed to have some semblance of responsibility since you represent a large group of people. If his judgment is weak and disturbed in his personal life, then his judgment can be disturbing in his political life. Every other politician involved in a scandal has resigned. He passed the phone around for everyone to see and one of the peripheral studio video cameras [they tape everything, but never release it, weird] caught the picture. O&A never planned on doing anything until someone caught that they actually have the picture on video, so they decided to release it on Twitter.

The thing that generally makes Republican sex scandals so revealing is the moral righteousness that many on that side of the aisle espouse.

John Ensign was one of THE main attackers of Clinton back with the whole Lewinsky affair, basically calling him a moral midget. He demanded that Clinton resign the presidency for the act... As did Newt Gingrich...

Ensign is/was a part of the whole C-Street band of conservative moralists... Ultra-religious and morally pious (supposedly).

I mean, at least Clinton was getting a hummer from some young go-getter who obviously threw it out there for him. Ensign was banging his supposed best friend's wife in a long-term affair.

It is just the hypocrisy of the right that makes them a much easier and bigger target when they eventually show their human flaws, some far worse than the average person that they berate with their moral judgments.

Outside of the blatant hypocrisy, though, I couldn't care less what these people are doing in their bedrooms.


This whole Weiner thing is stupid. It was incredibly stupid of him to do what he did.... So stupid that I can't even begin to understand what the hell he was thinking. But, his transgressions pale in comparison to some other recent political downfalls.

The really sad thing for me is that Weiner, just like Spitzer, is a highly intelligent asset to the left (which is why the right is having a field day... they want him out). If those guys were just a little smarter, the sky was literally the limit.
