I only know him as one of the best shotblocker of modern era. And his chimpanzee arms. Was he actually impactful on the court? Did people fear driving the lane because of his presence?

Do tell.

A skinnier Dwight Howard. Same post moves, same hook shot, though lacked athletic ability,

He was immobile and couldn't really run. He was very awkward and had no stamina, playing like 4/5/6 minutes at a time... But he was awesome and one of my favorites. He could block shots and had great spirit.

People didn't seem to be intimidated, but he altered shots by being on the court. There is some game of him on the Bullets playing the Celtics on youtube where you can see every minute he was on the court. I don't have the link though.

I wouldnt say people feared him but he broke up most attempts in his area. He was like a video game created player joke. He had like a 8'4'' wingspan...and when he shot it was literally unblockable. He would take a 3 on the warriors now and then. His hook(the space hook) was totally impossible to contest. But every shot he ever took got laughs. He did have a few driving dunks though.

He blocked 4 shots in a row in this vid

Apparently he shot a lot of 3s. I liked his foot work in one of them.

his blocked shot stats were bonkers, 3.3 in under 19 minutes per game

i wonder if he would've been as effective in today's game. at 200lbs he weighed the same as a lot of modern point guards

Effective shot blocker, but a bit of a joke otherwise.

I loved it when Nelly let Manute shoot the three.

He couldn't catch ONE pass! Made me mad but a good defensive player.

Even though he was rail thin he blocked a ton of shots as he has great anticipation.

Add to that he's 7'7" and has the longest wingspan in NBA history. Didn't even need to jump to swat shots.

If he had decent stamina he'd average 7 blocks a game.
