That was more of a leaner than a tomahawk. Smooth, just like all of MJ's dunks.

This is a better set up and a better tomahawk, plus the ball bounces off David Robinson's head.

The better question is, what are the Kobe d*ckriders gonna do when he retires knowing he'll barely make it into the Top 10 list?

Chances are guys like Durant, Dwight and hell even LeBron could surpass him.

You see, Jordan's legend as the Greatest of All-time is already set in stone. Ain't nothing gonna change; at least not in our lifetime. Jordan stans have nothing to worry about.

I see why Kobe stans are always hyping him up because deep down inside they know Kobe is somewhere at #10-#12. His legacy is threaten by current & future superstars.

Top 12 is f*cking good. I've never said it bad nor did I say Kobe was a bad player. But the Kobe stans are insecure about it because they want to place him higher than he should be.

I have nothing against him as a player especially not the last 4 seasons. He's matured into a good leader since 2008. My beef with Kobe is with his earlier years(the first 7-8 seasons), a bit of it was his arrogance and selfishness, and a bit of it was the bullshhhit NBA and media hype that kept feeding the fans that he was already an all-time great even when playing second fiddle.

Jordan's wingspan is at least as long as Kobe's. His hands alone are like 2-3" longer per hand plus he's naturally broader. Kobe's actual sleeve length can't possibly make up for all that.

True but 10-12th ALL TIME, is nothing to sneeze at either.. It's really unfair to Kobe how much he gets compared to Jordan. Even players like Wilt, Russell, Magic, Bird and Kareem all pale in comparison to Jordan..

Jordan is the first and only undisputed GOAT the league has ever seen. All the other potential GOAT players all have asterisks or qualifiers next to their
resumes.

Russell - won but not nearly enough scoring
Wilt - dominated the game in virtually all aspects except winning
Kareem - closest to Jordan's resume yet still doesn't come close and got to play with multiple hall of famers and one of the other greatest players of all time in Magic.

No, because coaches weren't obsessed enough with "wingspan" back in 1985 to actually measure it. Jordan has made dunks with just as much extension as Kobe if not more, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Again, I'm just going by the fact that it doesn't make much sense to think that Kobe's actual arm length from shoulder to finger tip is enough to offset MJ's extra 2-3" per hand (total of 4-6" conservatively) plus extra broadness across the shoulders/chest.

LOLLLL MJ's hands aren't 2-3 inches longer than Kobe's, that's absurd. Try an inch or so. MJ's hands are around 12" from palm base to finger tip. MJ's hands are like 2-3 inches bigger than someone who is like 6'0".

Agreed.

Not just that.

Look very closely.

Kobe actually cheats. kobe clearly using Rim as protection. Both Garnett & white center has absolutely no chance of challenging the dunk cuz the rim is in the way.

Kobe's baseline dunk is probably the most overrated dunk in NBA History. anyone can do that off baseline. Plus that wild flailing of arms & legs makes it look ugly.

3. please do not EVER mention JORDANs name next to KOBRICK CRYANT ok?

KOBRICK is only a JORDAN IMMITATOR........ HE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO AS GOOD AS JORDAN WAS IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM...........

Agreed Totally

Kobe is overrated in-game dunker. He is even worse "dunk contest" dunker.

Its the ESPN that made this cheap MJ immitator into all that.

I've never seen any Kobe dunk & went "wow".

If you look at all the kobe's "copied" one handed tomahawks, he does lot more flailing with arms & legs after dunk is just thru the rim. faaaking cheat.

how about creating in the "Air" a little bit Mr Copy Bryant just before the dunk.

He's really got no elevation & distance. Just a throw down. & does more extra curricular activity like arms legs flailing & doing a flip on the ground, falling down

LOLLLL MJ's hands aren't 2-3 inches longer than Kobe's, that's absurd. Try an inch or so. MJ's hands are around 12" from palm base to finger tip. MJ's hands are like 2-3 inches bigger than someone who is like 6'0".

You ever seen the comparison pic between Kobe and MJ's hands? Jordan's hands are like 10-11" from bottom to tip of the middle finger. Kobe's can't possibly be more than 8" judging by the trouble he has palming the ball.

Not sure if people missed the entire point of the comparison.

A. MJ while in flight pumps back the ball behind his head
B. MJ's distance
C. MJ's 'lean'
D. MJ's power

Now.... Kobe can and has done 'some' of these things, but not all of these things in one seamless moment.

With Kobe they've either been one or the other, but not (from what we've seen in this thread thus far) in unison.

And I don't think this is the best one handed tomahawk dunk btw, not sure if it's even MJ's best, but nonetheless.... point is proven.

He's not leaning anywhere near MJ's lean, all he did was bring his legs back. MJ's entire body was damn near parallel to the ground. Distance was about the same, but MJ had much more height in his jump (as usual).

Till this day I don't know why Kobe fans keep bringing up that dunk. I don't see anything so spectacular about it to be honest. Nothing an above avg leaper couldn't do. Fact is, Kobe cannot and has never taken off from the same distance that MJ and others have, and he's never had the same height in his dunks that MJ and others have. They keep bringing it up because it's incredibly impressive FOR KOBE, and impressive overall. But they're overrating it a ton. He takes off from the inner dotted line and diunks the ball with his NEAR HAND from the side of his body that is CLOSER to the basket. Jordan routinely took off from the dotted line and beyond and dubked it with his REAR HAND opposite the side of his body that was closest to the basket, meaning he had to get more air to complete the dunk since he still needed to maintain enough height to dunk it as his REAR HAND made it to the rim as opposed to his LEAD HAND.

In regards to extending the arm back...

MJ didn't have to do that as much, since he just rose over most of his defenders and could palm the ball much better than Kobe, thus he didn't need to extend his arm away from the defender.

My hand is just barely under 8" and 5'10". Kobe has to have bigger hands than me, I can only palm a dry ball and wave it around only a little bit, much less than what Kobe can do. I've heard MJ estimates up to 12.25" from palm base to tip of middle finger, which is absolutely bonkers if that's true.

First off, that is possibly the worst pic ever to judge arm length. Secondly, if even you say that the "arm length looks similar," then Jordan has to be longer overall due to an extra 2" on each hand plus being broader across the shoulders/chest. That was my point.

Yes, I am SPMJ :D. I figured you'd post the 2nd dunk, since that's the only one I could find where he really extended the ball way back, but that's really about it. Can you find any others? If you go through the average Kobe mix on the other hand, you'll find plenty where he's really bringing the ball back. It adds a touch of authority/power to those dunks that a shorter-armed player can't afford. That's the only reason why quite a few view Kobe as the superior in-game dunker to MJ, IMO. It's not really about "variety".

Also, as big a Jordan fan as I am, count me among those who aren't seeing what's so spectacular about that MJ dunk you posted.

Not spectacular, just a very aesthetically pleasing dunk. I called it a thing of beauty in my original post. I thought it would appeal to everyone. Guess not.

MJ while in flight pumps back the ball behind his head = To Kobe's
Kobe's Distance>MJ's distance
Kobe's Lean>MJ's 'lean'
Kobe's Power>MJ's power

Its the crap like this I'm talking about.

Illusion vs Reality

A good dunk vs Great dunk

Look very closely at this kobe dunk.

Fact 1: Before he takes off, he alreay got full momentum going forward, he is lunging forward to dunk with full stretch.

Fact 2: Its more of a stretch dunk than a flight dunk MJ & VC does.

Fact 3: notice the sudden drop landing to the ground as kobe fails to even pass the rim thus giving an illusion of real distance covered.

A good dunk but really nothing special

Kobe covered the distance with stretch & lunging forward rather than Flight & glyde is not even half of what MJ covers regularly on tomohawk dunks.

compare to this MJ dunk @ 6:33

MJ leaner at 6:33 mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2R379PfMzlM&playnext=1&list=PL77D5024F12C9B9AD)

Its full flight. notice he is passing the rim before dunking. He lands way pass the rim. VC does that too.

MJ distance>>>>>>Kobe ever dreamed of
MJ Flight>>>>>>>Kobe ever dreamed of
MJ Lean>>>>>>>>Kobe ever dreamed of
MJ dunks>>>>>>Kobe dunks

Kobe's are decent dunks. MJ's are easily all time great dunks. Only VC has a chance of beating MJ dunks in direct comparison.

^Kobe basically dunking uncontested so that is beaten by free throw line throwdown by jordan. Bigger distance. Greater poster.

Jordan can palm the ball > Kobe
Jordan can dunk leaners at > angle than Kobe
Jordan can break backboards > kobe
Vince Carter couldn't even break the backboard. How the hell can any one do that with the new rims invented?

Damn, MJ stans are pathetic... :facepalm

What StanS?

It is one guy who despite us telling him to shutup, continues making useless threads.

Not the same as having Jacks3, Hulk, Alphawolf, Fatal, Griffmoney, etc, etc, etc... all making hate threads or trolling everything Jordan/Kobe related.

Yah darn those Jordan stans.

Kobe's dunks lacks artistry & fluidity & creativity.

Yup. Very true. He'd probably drop 80 on his ass.

Kobe was only dropping Big Points after the games were already decided, whether it was the Bulls winning, or the Lakers. Besides, Kobe wasn't even a Starter during the 90s, so where was the "80 points" gonna come from? :oldlol:
"

Bu, Bu but.. The 90s were watered down so that anyone could become a Superstar ( which is true, seeing as how Kobe was an "All-Star" dropping a whole 15ppg).

I remember back when Kobe dropped 55 on MJ.

More like 75-80 in his prime.

I guess this watered down 90's league only made MJ that much overrated.

So why wasn't Kobe "80 Points" Bryant a starter back then? The league was already weak, yet he still couldn't start? Nice attempt to flip the point, yet still manage to make Kobe look like a chump. :oldlol:

Wouldve been the most epic game of all time. But Kobe shitting on MJ ? Not a chance, if anything, it could possibly be back-and-forth. Frobe showed no fear against the GOAT and he played him rather well (especially for an extremely young, not very experienced guard) but MJ schooled him quite a bit (look at the 98 All-Star).

MJ >> Kobe

Kobe (soon to be GOAT Jr.) >> Anyone in the League

Not gonna lie though, I think MJ is the most photogenic dunker of all time though. His dunk pics look f*cking epic.

I disagree. MJ had his best finals series against Magics Lakers and his playoffs high against Birds Celtics. Kobes best game was against the Raptors.

Agreed.

That Raptors were high school defense team. Comparing Raptors defense that wasn't even at NCAA or Pro level to a Playoff D MJ scored against is a joke.
