I've currently got a Black Lab which I love (Labs are in my top 3-5) but I've always wanted a Siberian Husky. I also really like Alaskan Malamutes. I also took in an abandoned Beagle five or six years ago and fell in love with it; unfortunately I had to give her away but it was a great dog and I've always liked Beagles.

My cousins have a collie mix with the Aussie Shep and... well she's old as shit now like 16.

But in her younger days she was like the most hyper dog and a lot of fun. I'd recommend the breed but they need to be active, so only if you're an active person and don't mind having a spazz.

Very smart dog though. Mine was a beautiful black and white similar to the pick of the border collie in this thread.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly what he looks like. He was goofy looking as a puppy though, real bug eyed. Not a cheap dog either.

My dogs got sprayed by a skunk this morning. You want to talk about a hellish day. I had to call off work to remedy the problem. I didn't know where else to put this info, so I thought this was the most appropriate thread.

I got up at about 6 a.m. and let them outside... Skunk was in my front yard eating bird seed. The dogs approached cautiously and, just as they were about to start barking, the skunk lifted up his rancid little tail and sprayed its disgusting cocktail right in my dogs' mouths.

Yes... in their mouths.

I had to bring them inside before I could go to the store to get supplies to fix the problem and now my whole house smells like skunk.

I got back from the store and put together a concoction of 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, a table spoon of baking soda and a shot of dish soap. I had to soak my dog's faces with the stuff while I wore surgical gloves and it burned the f#ck out of their faces... Took away the smell, though.

The house still smells like skunk and I'm having to spray white vinegar and Fabreeze in every room about every 30 minutes or so.

The smell is just heinous. F#ck skunks. They've ruined my day.

I have a six year old husky, and a two year old Aussie.
My first Aussie was fantastic. He picked up things the first time, and taught the husky a lot. She was a nightmare the first two years, but is pretty great now. Nicest, most gentle dog I have ever had. I just view them as cats, they’ll do what they want.
I generally tell people to not get one, one for the behavior and energy level, two because the hair is non-stop and everywhere.
A cup my wife saw ‘my husky only sheds once year. For 365 days....’

Aussie I have now is smart, but working as opposed to show body and has ADHD. He takes more work to learn things. He has an intact tail, which I think they should all have. There’s no reason to dock them.
