View Full Version : [VIDEO] LeBron James: Cleveland Tribute

This is my video tribute to LeBron James during his tenure in Cleveland. I figured I'd make the video for two reasons. One, to get more familiarized with Sony Vegas. Two, because no matter what way you slice it, if you're a true Cavaliers fan, you had best years during his last few years he was in Cleveland. I don't agree with how he handled the way he left, but when it's all said and done...

...Goodbye. Thanks for the memories.

The fact that LBJ's birthplace was less than an hour away from the arena is what made it so great. Living those exciting years in Cleveland were some of the best times an NBA fan could have, period. Pure and Bombay like Peruvian yae.

I'm thinking of doing a remix video. Same theme, different song and a more variety of clips throughout his career. The clips I featured are mostly contained to his last two seasons when the Cavaliers were considered an finals favorite, but failed to appear because of the team's short-comings.

Actually I uploaded to YouTube first, the link is here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaCSqRS4XLA

...but it's blocked because of the song and copyrights, and it won't let me dispute the video with the normal dispute process. So I figured I'd share a direct download and post it on a YouTube alternative.

Also, you're more than welcome to upload it to YouTube as the original if you can get past the copyright of it being blocked. Usually I can dispute it and it'll get unblocked in all countries except like Germany or something, but with this it won't let me even dispute it because of the WMG content and it's blocked in like 30 countries.

I know I'm neither of them, and I'm not even a Cleveland fan but that video did nothing but piss me off. I have no emotional ties to Cleveland but if anything that video shows he definitely should have stayed there. He was a much better player there and way more entertaining to watch. Makes watching him in Miami feel so much emptier. And don't worry about ThaSwagg3r (not that you are), the kid was asking about what science courses to take in high school. He's at best a 15 or 16 year old trolling a bunch of people twice his size and some old enough to be his freaking dad. He's literally just a kid lol.

Oh, and it goes without saying, that was a very well done video:cheers:

Quite honestly?

You did very well with the mix. Excellent job of syncing the music with the visuals.

If you are asking me my thoughts on the content of the video itself as a Cavaliers fan looking back on those years? I had basically no emotional response whatsoever, except for a bit of anger during the intro portion.

I can't just make myself feel nostalgia because it seems like the correct thing to do... I feel nothing toward the guy. The last 16 months have permanently changed the way I look at the guy and that includes the way I look back on him.

It is too bad, because those were some great moments... I was even on-hand for a few of them. It is unfortunate that those times are now tainted for me, but they are and there is nothing I can do to change it.

So, excellent job with the video. I see what you are attempting to accomplish. It didn't work with me, but it was through no fault of your own. I'm sure other Cleveland fans do have a nostalgic reaction.

For me personally the most emotional part was when he took off his jersey after game 6 against the Celtics. Just the way he took it off and the frustration he hide behind his face of failure. It just looked like he wanted out. I remember watching that and after they showed it live I turned to my wife and said, "He's not coming back."

Read post #900. I'm a basketball fan before I'm a Cavaliers fan. Without basketball, there is no Cavaliers. I was disappointed in the loss and even stated it in the thread, but I'm not going to let it piss me off, in the end it's just a game.

I was just glad to witness such an intense game. What is the main function of sports on TV? It generate money by entertainment. I was freakin' entertained and was grateful to witness a great game even with the loss.

If you ask any of the main Cavaliers fans here (ie: RBA and mhl) they will tell you I criticized LeBron before his Decision ever came out. And there were times where he would get blatant foul calls in his favor and I was pissed he was getting them while he played on the Cavaliers and posted about this. I want to see fair, good basketball being played.

If you're in any way insinuating I'm a LeBron fan above anything else, you're thoughts are misplaced. I still have respect for the man, but I as long as he plays in the NBA, I hope he doesn't win a ring ever.

Meticode, as a Suns fan, I can agree with you completely.

I remember how Lakers fans laughed at me when I told them I've enjoyed the WCFs in 2010,
and I how I didn't get mad at them for losing or how I was proud of them regardless.

They were all "Suns suck, how could you cheer after a loss??"

What some fans here, (mostly those of the elite teams) don't understand is...
that winning it all is... oh my god blasphemy, not everything.

I'm a fan of the game and value great basketball and fun above some metal cup and finger jewellery.

Losing hurts, sure. But it's part of the game.

I'm glad you understand where I'm coming from. I mean, yea it sucked we loss and didn't make it to the Finals the last two LeBron years, but I'm not going to piss and moan over it. I think the biggest thing I was pissed about out of everything was the last 2 minutes of the game 6 against the Celtics. The whole freakin' team just gave up. That was not good basketball.

I love nail biters, I love teams earning their way to a championship. Whenever the Cavs made it to the playoffs I wished they got the hard teams to play, I didn't want them to get a cake-walk through to the playoffs. I want them to earn it and I want some entertaining basketball.

I was so glad the Mavs won. Not because it was Miami and I don't like Miami, but because everybody picked the Heat to win, almost every single person. And Dallas earned that shit and shoved it back in everyone's faces.

Who would've thought DeShawn f*ckin' Stevenson would get a ring before LeBron? :D

To Piggyback of that statement it sounds similar to the way a lot of Memphis fans reacted after the series with Okc. Even though they lost Memphis played with complete heart and bounced back against Okc in multiple double digit deficits. They Played hard and both teams created the most exciting series of the playoffs. So just because your team loses doesn't mean you don't have something to cheer about

Great video... it just made me think about how i felt with it all when it happened... I was kindof 50/50...

Half of me wanted him to stay..... miss the one-man-army 50 point triple double spamming 30 points in 4th quarter Lebron... and i think Wade is holding him back dramatically, especially in the clutch.. where now for example all of the sudden the guy who was THE MOST CLUTCH in the NBA all the time "shrinks" or "is scared" in the clutch simply because he has to share the freakin ball with Wade in those situations and as unselfish as Lebron is, he doesnt mind it all.... Lebron sacrificed many fans and brought alot of unnecessary criticism upon himself by leaving... With this path of staying in Cleveland he could have retired like Reggie Miller, beloved, loyal, beautiful and emotional way... but probably a ringless way to...

and

Half of me wanted him to not turn down that once in a lifetime oppurtunity.... Lets be real here, all Lebron ever cared about was only to win a championship, he was patient for 7 years.... never complained, but made it quite clear what his goal was.... He saw what his future would be like if he stayed, with all those all-stars/superstar stacked teams like Celtics piling up Lebron would be having his MVPs and what not, get nice team records and eventually get overwhelmed by all-star/superstar stacked teams like he did the last time in Cleveland........ he really was never gona have the supporting cast needed to get a ring in Cleveland with all those all-stars/superstars stacking teams piling up, you gotta fight fire with fire..... With this path he will retire with at least one ring on his finger and much higher on the all-time list.... he did this move for him... He had to see at least ONCE how it feels to have something which Jordan, Magic, Kobe and so on had most of their careers.... those players ofcourse didnt have to leave, they got eventually got the required supporting cast handed to them, but not Lebron.... he was facing Malones/Barkleys destiny and he refused that destiny.... Cleveland fans needed to only once place themselves in his shoes and think about what path they would have chosen.... even if you are the biggest Cavs homer ever, deep down inside no matter how bad you feel about it you know Lebron probably made the right move for his basketball career... its sad... but its nothing personal, its just business, its just a basketball, its just goals a typical nba superstar had since his childhood.... to win championships

Great vid, it motivated me to make something similar for Nash, who's days in PHX are closing to an end.
Don't use any clips of the 2006 Lakers-Suns series.

cleveland's best chance to win a chip in any major sport since the 90's tribe.
Not really. The '07 Tribe won the AL Central Championship, breezed past the Yankees 3-1 in the ALDS and then led the Red Sox 3 games to 1 in the ALCS... Before blowing that commanding lead which included losses by what had been shutdown pitchers CC Sabathia, Carmona and Westbrook.

At that moment... Up 3-1 against the Red Sox and one win in Cleveland away from going to the World Series where we would have been a heavy favorite against the Rockies... That was far and away our best chance at a championship in recent memory. The Sox went on to sweep the Rockies, btw.

Watching everything fizzle away against Boston in 2010, I now wonder how close we ever really were to winning the whole thing.

Not really
I have to go with him on this. Making it to the Finals is a better chance than not making it to the World Series. One win away from it or not.

Bump, because this video really deserves more views.

I came across it again as a related video on your Kyrie mix.

Made me cry, again.

We had no chance to win. I vehemently disagree. While we were technically "close" to a championship with the Cavs in 2007, did you ever think for one minute that we were going to beat the Spurs? We didn't really have much of a chance in that series.

The Tribe, on the other hand, had a great shot at a World Series. They were playing the best baseball in the league at the moment of going up 3-1 on Boston.

Damn...I miss Cleveland Lebron, back when it was easy to root for him. I still like Lebron, but it's just not the same rooting for him on the Heat.

Music choice is terrible. Feels like something MTV would create doing a "Life" documentary of some fat loner kid who planned to blow up his highschool. But it backfired when he tripped and fell on the way to school thus setting off the bomb killing himself. If the song is to make you feel depressed clutching a razor in your hand? Then it did its job. But when I watch a highlight video of any magnitude I'd like for it to delivery energy.

:wtf:

For most Cleveland sports fans, thinking back on Lebron's time here produces a wistful feeling. Personally, I couldn't think of very many songs that would be more fitting for a video like this.

Great video. It sucks he didn't decide to say. Biggest black eye he'll never fully recover from.

Only way he could have recovered from this was destroying Dallas last year and he choked that away.

He needs to win at least 5 ships in Miami to justify anything. IMO.

I guess a reply back 3+ weeks later is better than none. :lol

What a great video I'm glad this was bumped

Lebron did the only thing he could to make Ohio fans hate him.. leave

He could have gotten ousted in the playoffs years to come and he would still have been a hometown hero. Went to Miami for wins. I know some people value wins over everything, but I don't know if I personally would've sacrificed the love of my very own statefolk. Plus his billion other fans all over the world. That changed a lot after the decision.

I hope he wins enough to make it worth it, for his sake

I don't think it's that he left for me. It's how he left. I wouldn't of had a huge problem with it he if did it the right way instead of making a big thing out of it.
