What do you say should be the top 10 NBA 2K12 guards?

Don't worry about point guards vs shooting guards. Just rank the guards, period, 1 through 10.

And, as always, feel free to add some insight on each player.

Usually I re-rate guys anyways.

1. Wade
2. CP3
3. Kobe
4. Rose
5. D-Will
6. Rondo
7. Westbrook
8. Nash(will decline soon but still Top 10 heading into season)
9. Parker
10. Ginobili(will decline soon but still Top 10 heading into season)

These guys would all be rated 82 and above.

At 80, I'd have John Wall(will improve to 82+ by next season), Monta Ellis(will steady at 80), Eric Gordon(will improve to 82+ by next season), Joe Johnson(will decline), Ray Allen(will decline), & Kevin Martin(will steady at 80).

After that everyone else is in need of a breakout year to establish themselves as a Top 10 guard.

I dunno, I kinda want to see Gordon perform in the playoffs or at least for a full season before I start putting him high on this top 10..

Yes.

Before we get into the "He plays with 3 future Hall of Famers" discussion, you should be fair in evaluating how he leads that team with his all around performances. Is Eric Gordon a good player? Yes. However I'd like to see him carry on his peak performance he had pre-injury for an entire season and potentially a post-season.

Rondo on the other hand has established himself among the top PG's in the NBA. Really the only complaint towards him is that he isnt known for scoring, although he can rack up 10+ Assists with ease. In this day & age in the NBA I'd consider averaging 10+ Assists per game is a tougher feat than averaging 20+ PPG. Thats why I put him above Gordon heading into this season.

If Gordon has a breakout year that establishes him as an "Elite" Guard, then I'll see where I'd put him in that Top 10.

If he continues to go for 20/4/3 while the Clippers miss the Playoffs by 20 games, then I cant give him the benefit of the doubt.

That seems pretty fair actually. I would probably have D-Will at 87 though. Kobe still feels like a 90 to me, so I feel he should be 90. Other than that, it feels right on.

Chris Paul is crazy overrated on ISH.. Yes he is a brilliant PG.. But it's like rating T-Mac as one of the best players of the 00's, yeah.. he coulda been brilliant when injury free, but he wasn't. Same goes for CP3.

He had an off season this year but CP3 and Rose both have 23.1 EFF ratings, and CP3 has a higher EFF48 than than Rose. That says a lot.

I put Kobe right now 89 so I can fit in a 2002 Carter at 90, 2001 Iverson at 89, 2003 Tmac at 93 (same as current Wade).

I'd probably put 2006 Kobe at 94, along with 2009 Wade. The thing is though right now with Kobe you don't have a lot of things you can put high with him. His dunking is going to be low, his 3 point shooting is going to be low, his midrange won't be as high as it used to be, his strength, speed, quickness, and vertical won't be high either. He'd gain points in durability, offensive awareness, low post offense, free throw shooting, layups, close shots, and post shots. I suppose he can work at 90 though. That would move 2001 Iverson to 90, Carter to 91, Tmac stays at 93, and so does Wade.

Durant would be a 91 or 92, Dwight would probably be a 92 or 93.

I just find the whole 2k making everyone a 95-98 retarded because these guys aren't close to being the best players ever. If current LeBron is 98, then prime Kobe is 99, prime LeBron is 100, prime Shaq/Jordan are 102. Stupid stuff.

Doesn't OP realise overall rating shouldn't be used to gauge player impact within game?

Has Rondo scored 23 PPG yet? Has Rondo ever played the great defense he's credited for playing? Has he learned how to shoot yet? Does he still do that thing where he shows up one night and seems to take most of the next night off?

No but thats not as valuable as Rondo's PG play.
Yes, except when he is carrying injuries.
No but he is improving, and he makes up for it with other offensive skills.
