I've never seen a Bollywood flick, but I think there a bit overated. It seems like the people who like them are the type who like the most unusual things because their not popular, and you sound cooler if you say that you prefer Indian films over Hollywood.

While we're talking about films "Lost in Translation" and "The Big Lebrowski" are some of the most overated films.

I saw 'The Big Lebowski' for the first time yesterday.

One of the funniest films I've ever seen.

In terms of pure filmmaking and screenwriting, yes, you're right... It's very overrated. Because in the hands of any other cast it'd likely be a disaster. But, Jeff Bridges and John Goodman breathed some kind of incredible life into that material, IMO.

So hilarious!

As for the Bollywood chicks, I'm not into Gypsies. Yes it sounds racist, but growing up around a lot of gypsies has made me have a great distaste towards them.

i watched both, then slapped the friend who recommended it to me in the back of the head. i then told him to give me back the last 4 hours of my life back. he couldn't... so i smacked him again!

Speaking of overrated films, 'Mystic River' and 'A History of Violence' are two of the most overrated films I've seen in recent times.

Critics went nuts praising David Cronenberg for making a "normal" film and heaped far too much hype on 'AHOV'... Very very disappointing.

how do you associate indians with gypsies?

Gypsies are commonly refered to Middle-Eastern nomadic people in the Balkans (Balkans refers to countries such as Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Serbia) - a region where everyone hates one another.

But, where I come from these Gypsies, who are believed to be from mostly of Indian descent, are usually beggars, scam artist, and part of the lower class.

Even when I see Indian people in America, I just refer to them as Gypsies, and thus, the stereotypes and stigmas about them come into mind. I know its stupid to have a bad stereotype about them, but I would be lying if I told you if I didn't hink this way.

Atleast those were bearable movies/decent movies. Lost in Translation was plain terrible, and The Big Lebrowski were stupid. These are the type of movies people like just so they can sound cool, but deep down inside they know these movies are terrible.

I'm not looking to fit into any cult... 'The Big Lebowski' was genuinely hilarious. John Goodman's Walter is one of the funniest characters I've ever witnessed.

'Lost in Translation' was nothing special, though.

The Big Lobowski was a decent movie.

I was so pumped to see Lost in Translation because I really like films like Garden State and Closer and I was told Lost in Translation was in the same mold. I watched Lost in Translation and even as the movie ended I remember thinking; "Ok . . . when does this movie actually start."

Lost in Translation was horrible. I watched it while in Japan (was a bit home sick) and remember thinking that most of the scenes were editted to make it look like Japan was different...Especially the height differential, it isn't as bad anymore...but a lot of it was right, though. But Bill Murray's acting definitely did not deserve an Oscar or whatever he was nominated for. It was mediocre and uninspired.

The Big Lebowski is definitely a hilarious movie, Jeff Bridges acting is just incredible.
Lost in Translation is kinda boring, but not a really bad movie. At least it had Scarlett Johannson in it, and it's always fun mocking japaneses
A History of Violence is weird, I don't think any word describes it better. Most things just make you "wtf?!"

Bollywood, from what I understand, is a place in India where movies are made, and is similar to Hollywood, hence Bollywood. I've always heard of good things about Indian movies, but I have yet to see what the big fuss is about. Maybe, someone can recommend a good Indian movie.

its a lame attempt to be like hollywood.
India's film industry is based out of city called bombay (actually thats the old name, now its mumbai).
Hence B in bollywood.

Indian movies are ok. Some are good some are bad. Most follow the same predictable formula. There's a few independant film makers who make good films but 99% of the stuff sticks to the same old forumlas (even more than hollywood imo).

If you like song and dance stuff I guess they are worth it. A lot of those movies sell on the strength of their songs as much as the lead actor/actress. I'd say atleast a 1/4th of the movies run time is spent in songs.

During my tours in the Middle East we'd see alot of Bollywood movies. We didn't understand a word they'd say but the girls were very easy on the eyes. They are very exotic and sexy in the way they carry themselves. The girls are hot as hell too. I saw one of the X rated movies and it was the most insane thing I'd seen in a movie like that in a while.

The girl on the first page is hot as hell. I would kill her in bed if I had the chance. I don't know why you guys are fronting on that piece of woman.

It's funny that Richard Gere kissed an actress over there on national TV and now they have lawsuits for "indecency" against the TV station and they are burning dummy's of Richard Gere. Their women are raised to be sensuous and how to look pleasing to a man and they go off on a kiss. Have you guys seen how these females dance? YOWZA!!!!

That 2nd indian chick, who is an obvious mixed blood, is hot beyond belief. But I can say that I have seen(in person) maybe a handful of Indian chicks in my life that I thought were really hot but I could go to the mall and see a half dozen or more smokin hot latinas easy. I don't know what it is, because their skin colors are similar but latinas are much better looking than Arab or Indian women. Latino guys must get pissed though because half of the super hot latinas that I see are usually on the arm of a black or white guy.
