It would actually be amazing career ending for Nash - finally winning a championship or two. Plus feeding two superstars should be a pleasure.

Crawford would be a solid 6th man but damn....is he really needed like that? He could definitely put 15ppg+ and handle the rock. Nash? Well....if they sign him you can forget about Wade+LBJ handling the ball. No point in getting Nash and NOT letting him be the true PG he is. It would probably force guys to play off ball more so it could work.

Nice going Lebron. Openly recruiting a player under contract. Sarver will be making noise about this soon enough.
So between Nash, LeBron, and Wade; everyone is going to be equally handling the ball? And having Wade and Bosh isn't enough? Now he wants to add a 15/10 PG and a 6th Man of the Year candidate? Can't do anything by yourself, eh LeBron?

Just when I thought he had ended his streak of annoyance, Lebron does this.
Every team wants Nash and Crawford on there team. It just has to be Lebron to tweet this even though both are still under contract. After a year where there just newly constructed team got to the finals, to ask for a 15+/10+ player and a 6th man of the year candidate.

This is a good suggestion for Nash, not so much for anyone else. I really don't see how the team would fit together though.
Lebron>Ballhogger/InsideGame/3PointGame
Dwyane>Ballhogger/InsideGame/Average Everything Else
ChrisB>Can't work without the ball/ Good Allround PF/C game
Nash>Pass First/None Ballhogger/Good Mid-3Point Game
Basically Nash would get washed out or either Lebron and Dywane's stats will dip. Also the Heat team is good enough to win, they just have to win.

Not at all. My biggest gripe about Lebron has always been his need to have attention.. unneccesary actions that show-case the kind of person he is. Dancing on opponent teams floors when his team has a big lead. Not shaking hands. Telling Cleveland his decision at the same time billions of people found out, and doing it in a way that made sure billions of people knew his decision.
This is another perfect example. If his team was crap I could see this as a way to get management or ownership stirred up. But his team just came off a finals run. After Kobe lost in the finals, you didn't see him bringing un-necessary attention to himself by asking for two vital position players still at the high end of there game. Ditto with many other super-stars.
My reaction is perfectly warranted.

So, because he's jokingly asks on Twitter for Jamal Crawford or Steve Nash to come to Miami, that tells you something about his psyche? That's what's ridiculous and just flat-out dumb. There's nothing wrong with this. He's not going in front of cameras. It's Twitter.
Simple Jack
10-27-2011, 06:12 PM
I knew this would be an overreaction thread. Which player would ever deny Nash coming to their team, or at least haven't thought of the possibility of playing with him? Twitter is a means of expressing your thoughts...a thought that likely 99% of NBA stars have shared at some point the past few years.
They can't afford either player. Neither of those guys is signing for the vet minimum.
There's going to be a mid-level exception in the labor agreement, buddy.

Yes but you don't see other elite players, and more importantly... winners, like Garnett, Kobe, Duncan etc. doing this kind of stuff. It always seems to be Lebron.
Like I said originally, I understand every team wants Steve Nash and Jamal Crawford. It's just frustrating and appropriate I guess now that I think about it for Lebron to be the one that tweets it among all NBA players given the lockout, there contracts, and knowing everyone is closely scrutinizing his every move.

I hate when people use Kobe in these kind of arguments. Duncan, sure, he's a mature and classy guy from everything we've seen. Garnett, eh...I like him a lot, but he's kind of a dick, at least on the court. Kobe has thrown his teammates under the bus a lot (*cough* Bynum *cough*) and everyone seems to have completely forgotten his "i'll go play on pluto" comments. If no one paid so much attention to LeBron's tweets, this would be what it should be: a non-story.

Here's the biggest part of this though, it's not going to happen. It's LeBron saying on Twitter "Hey Steve! It would be great to play together!" Miami's not going to sign Crawford. Riley is going to get a big with whatever exception is left and Crawford isn't signing for the minimum. Nash, is still under contract to the Suns. This is just a player on Twitter. He's not flying Nash and Crawford into Miami. This is just a non-story, other than LeBron made a joke on Twitter.

Yeah, but people want a hard cap to stop primed superstars from teaming up. You'll still have the Malones and Gary Paytons of the world trying to snag one on the way out, but by then their skills have noticeably diminished and they still get the veteran minimum (which I'm not sure on but doesn't the pay scale increase by years played? So someone like Malone or Payton still costs you a little something).

This. If Lebron got those two on his team he would end up averaging something like 18/8/8.. the rings wouldn't even matter at that point when comparing him to other all time greats w/ rings. Dude will never win as an alpha because he just isn't one to begin with.

I would agree with you if Nash was Rondo or Rose or something like that, but thing is it would work perfectly no matter who handled the ball with Steve Nash, he is one of the best shooters in NBA history to be honest with you, him of the ball spotting up for entirely open jumpshots will be devastating for the opposing teams and when he has the ball that favour now works towards Wade & Lebron who would be getting much better looks and much better passes, cutting to the basket, alley-oops and what not. Lebron has never played with a player who has the same court vision as him, they would be on the same level and thinking telepathically as playmakers on the ball or of the ball, Nash & Lebron see plays before they actually develope, they would be playing perfectly of eachother.
As far as Lebron not doing anything by himself, i think we have seen enough of that for 7 years in Cleveland, at the end of the day the best team will win the championship and those best teams who won championships had the most stacked teams in NBA history, yes even Michael Jordan had one of the most stacked teams in NBA history believe it or not, its not that Michael Jordan couldnt do anything by himself, its that this is a team game and that its impossible to win it by yourself.

haha the entire Lebron cleveland team was Lebron and 11 shooters! The miami heat team is basically Wade and Lebron and 10 other shooters. Lebron even turned Chris Bosh, a 24/10 PF into a 6'11 Mo Williams. Don't ever mention they need shooters again.

First, no there was not 11 shooters in Cleveland.
Second, no there is not 10 shooters in Miami, only one has been a effective shooter and that is James Jones.
Third, with that logic Chris Bosh & Dwyane Wade turned Lebron into a 18-7-7 player in the Finals and a 26-7-7 player in the season, when he used to be more like a 32-9-9 player in the playoffs and 30-7-8 player in the season. Sharing the ball amongst 3 stars does that to you..
As far Chris Bosh shooting, Chris Bosh never was a pick n roll or post player, he always was a pick n pop and in the post he is more of a face up player than back you up player.
Lebron wanting Steve Nash has more to do with admiration for the veteran playmaker, Lebron admires the likes of Jason Kidd, Steve Nash. Jason Kidd was even his idol, those are veterans nearing retirement he would love to see have a championship and if he could help them have one he would do it, Jason Kidd just got his, now its Steve Nash turn, he is one of those players who truly deserved a ring in NBA history. Steve Nash would be thinking about it, he is 38 right? It would have not been any different than what Karl Malone and Gary Payton did or at least tried to do at the end of their career joining Shaq & Kobe.

LeBron is desperate. Wanting to recruit Steve Nash and Jamal Crawford so that he would look stupid when he said he and the Heat are gonna win 8 NBA Championships. Having Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh is not enough. Adding Mike Bibby, Mike Miller and the return of Udonis Haslem coming off the bench is not enough.

This.
Why don't really need someone to distribute. This team isn't Boston. You don't have Ray Allen on hand to hit a three. Wade and Lebron like to dominate the ball. They are also good at distributing. The best thing Steve Nash could provide would be his outside shot. He wouldn't be a bad fit but he isn't going to make them that much better. The same goes for Crawford.
This team needs another good big-man. A guy like Tyson Chandler would be perfect. Even a veteran like Ben Wallace would help out Miami in the front-court.

10-28-2011, 12:44 AM
I think Nash would be tremendous with the Heat! For one, imagine that fast break with Nash pushing the rock and Bron and Wade on the wings! And in the half court, Bron and Wade can still do their thing. U simply have Nash spot up and hit the threeball and deep midrange jumpers. And of course Nash can run sets to get Bron and Wade great looks in the halfcourt. Chalmers can come off the bench to provide that defensive spark. Nash is a great fit! And on top of it, this will prolong his career even more. Even though Nash is still aging great and is still a top five PG in the L.

As surprisingly effective as Nash was last season, am I the only one who realizes that he will be 38 years old by the time the playoffs would start and is currently the 6th oldest player in the league (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_and_youngest_National_Basketball_As sociation_players)?

This.
Might even work for the Thunders, Westbrook can slide over to the 2 (some might even argue that's his true position) and he the scorer he always wanted to be.
Oh Nash could make gel into any team and make it work. I singled out Rondo and Westbrook as the only two who wouldn't want Nash, not because Nash couldn't fit with them, but because these two strike me as cocky and would likely say something like "I don't need Nash, I'M the team's ball handler!".

As a playing assistant coach - Yes. Nash is turning 38 yrs.old. He might not be the same Steve Nash next season. The current Miami Heat's main priority is to sign a good defensive Center.

definitely an old ass in the nba, but nash has lasted this long because he's always relied on stuff that weren't based on athleticsim. his game was shooting, basketball iq, and passing, etc. other guys drop off like a rock once they age because their games were based on speed and all that. he's always sucked as a defender, so that drop off is barely noticeable anyway. and he might not run up and down as quick anymore but nash's shooting is still there though, and so is his basketball iq and all that unathletic stuff..

Pat riley is on record saying miami needs a veteran PG for next season. I don't think Nash will be a heat though. Suns value him too much.

That way in the 4th quarter the "league's best player" can sit on the bench while the Heat rolls out a lineup of ballers in the clutch.
This made me crack up...

He is doing this now since he knows he won't get fined at the moment. He wouldn't have done this if there was no lockout because he would owe up.
