First Dejaun Blair was cut from Samara because they could "get as good or better local players for less cost".
Now Devin Brown was cut from Prokom because "he is not good enough".
In addition to this, a third NBA player, DaJuan Summers, is rumored to also be cut soon from Siena because, "he is not performing well enough"..............

Yes, or in the way it is called in the NBA - he was cut.
In the NBA it is called being cut because you did not have a guaranteed contract and when it came up to be money owed on a guaranteed amount you are cut.
Cut.....or sometimes they use the term waived.
But, when the team says it was because you were not wortth the money you were being paid and they drop your contract so they can get as good a player cheaper.......
yeah, that is universally considered being cut in the NBA.

Very good Marko Keselj (10p) in the first half of the game, Mantzaris excellent job on Williams.
The game
Olympiacos had a starting five of Vangelis Mantzaris, Vassilis Spanoulis, Marko Keselj, Pero Antic and Lazaros Papadopoulos. The young guard [Mantzaris] played at point guard. Red-Bill [Spanoulis] played at the 2. Regarding the roster, Ivkovic left out Matt Howard. Knocked out of the game with injuries were Michalis Pelekanos and Kalin Lucas, who had already returned to Athens.
With the starters Keselj
At the start of the game, Vangelis Mantzaris was not afraid of Deron Williams and the Greek guard played excellent defense on the American guard. Georgios Printezis made the score 6-11 for Olympiacos in the fifth minute of the game. Then the Reds suffered an injury, as Pero Antic got a cut near his eye. Vassilis Spanoulis was charged with three early fouls, so Ivkovic benched him for the remainder. Marko Keselj led the Greek team in the first quarter, which found Piraeus leading by a score of 19-21. The Serbian forward scored 10 points on 2/3 three-pointers. Dusan Ivkovic was upset with the physicality of the game, and received a technical foul for complaining.
The Legend took and kept the lead
In the second quarter, Olympiacos took advantage on offense with Kyle Hines and Martynas Gecevicius. The Reds continued to hold the lead (27-30) at the 13th minute. Kostas Papanikolaou's score and foul made it 33-41. Then Deron Williams took control of the Turkish team by scoring 4 consecutive points to cut Besiktas' deficit to (37-42). At the end of the first half, The Reds led by eight points (41-49).

No, what I was saying was that DeJuan Blair's contract expired. Being cut is what you described... a team takes you off of the roster and pays you the rest of your contract because they don't believe you are helpful for the team. An expired contract means that it ended. His contract was only for about two weeks.

His contract was for the whole year. With team option renewal options at each month. And a guaranteed amount of money due after set times.
It's just like when a player signs a non-guaranteed training camp contract that runs through the whole NBA season, but only has X amount of money owed if the contract is "cut" by a certain date.........
That's the kind of contract he had.
He was not cut for poor play, just that the team felt he was not worth the amount he was making. The same thing as most NBA cuts.
Brown was cut apparently just for poor play.

Oh, okay. I didn't understand how it worked, since I just saw the following quote:
As per the official website of Samara, the contract with Blair expired at the end of VTB League and FIBA Eurochallenge Qualification Rounds and the two parts decided not to renew it. and assumed that that meant his contract simply ended and they decided not to sign him to a new contract.

The rules are very different. The Euro league is WAY more physical than the NBA. Check out Kaman's recent quotes saying he thought he was in a wrestling match instead of a basketball game.
The game is not wide open for the PG's in Euro as it is in the NBA. Shooting ability is much more important in the Euroleague. Short 3 pointers, a much more team oriented style of play. The NBA is easy on travels while they don't let you cheat in Euro with your footwork.
I understand it's natural to compare the play in both leagues especially when players play in both but the game is very different. It's silly to get heated and argue over it because the rules are just so different.

Montepaschi releases NBAer DaJuan Summers - Oct 31, 2011 (by Eurobasket News)
DaJuan Summers (203-F-88, college: Georgetown) is no longer a member of Montepaschi Siena. The Italian powerhouse terminated a deal with the American forward. Summers joined Montepaschi during the preseason.
He appeared 3 times in SerieA averaging 4 points and 1.3 rebounds. He also scored 4 points in a Euroleague game against Unics. It was not enough for the Siena team and they released the player.
DaJuan Summers spent last season with Detroit Pistons. He had 3.7 ppg for 20 games. With the same team in 2009/10 Summers registered 3.4 ppg and 1.2 rpg. DaJuan Summers is a product of the Georgetown University, where he graduated two years ago. He had 13.6 ppg and 4.1 rpg for his school as a senior.

"TOTAL DOMINATION"

Spanoullis ran back to Europe with his tail between in legs because he knew that his 3 ppg , 31% FG in the NBA would translate into Hall of Fame numbers in the Euroleague. He's dominating the Euroleague (well the highschoolers from America are) but he's up there with them.
I'm not going to contribute for this thread i just have one question.
Aren't you from Croatia? Why the hell don't you like european basketball?

Yup most people from Europe does not know that scrubs like
Langdon, JR Holden, Mc Calleb, Batiste were NBA Summer League casualties.
They think just because they are rockin the Euroleague, they are good enough to play in the NBA.
LMAO.
Domercant, Jaycee, Carroll, Nicholas, Hines, Kinsey FTWs.
How the heck did Tyus Edney became a superstar in Europe.
He used to passed the towels to O'Bannon Bros.

Also you don't want to know that Jeremy Pargo failed to make the Bobcats team after his summer league stint.
And he went to play for Euroleague.
And we know what happened.

Okay;
there's no way that Euroleague guy isn't the ish Jeff guy.
There's no way.
The stuff Euroleague says and does is just ....
That or he is REALLY a human being who isn't very logical or reasonable.
Really? He does't post links, and only posts them when its information that isnt too important and when he makes insane statements says "I don't need to post sources"
If that was the case, why post links, AT ALL? Doesn't make sense.
It's funny, to hear the stuff he says and the comments he makes. Of course the nba is much better than europe basketball..
There isn't an argument that can be made that would be held as valid. There's a reason why the best players play in the NBA and the guys who cant make it in the nba, go to Europe and just become stars.

Josh Childress was an absolute SCRUB in Europe.
He was on the all Eurolegaue second team you *******. Do you people realize how delusional this guy is? Childress Avergaed 15PPG, 5RPG, 2APG on 52% shooting in EUROLEAGUE his second year with Olympiakos .
Oh and he averaged the same numbers in the Greek league, only on 58% shooting
Would you mind explaining how those are " One of the worst players in Olympiakos history" numbers you goon?
And i'm not even considering the fact that teams play at a much slower/half court pace in Europe. The games are usually in the 70s and 80s.

Anthony Parker lived it. He was like Hercules among those bums.
2 Euroleage MVPs
2 Euroleague Titles
Named to All Decade Team
Named as one of the greatest 35 Europe players.
He could have been the GOAT.
Unfortunately he got called up to the Major League.

Shooting numbers are always higher in Euroleague and the other European leagues. The defense is just piss-poor, and nobody is athletic enough to adequately contest shots.

Yes i know, because i watch all of basketball games i can. I watch NCAA, NBA and European Leagues .. hell, i even watched FIBA Africa and Asia sometimes this Summer :lol
Now i'm going to ask you.
If you think that european leagues are inferior, if you don't like them .. why do you bother even talking about them?
It's like having the best pizza and then some inferior but still good pizza and you don't it the best because you want to continue to talk crap about the inferior and know every ingredient in that ..
