Too bad that you forgot to mention that Hakeem was the league leading rebounder two years and that he was the defensive player of the year for 2 years and that he to this date recorded most blocks in NBA history. To even understand how good Hakeem was on defense you can start with checking the all-time list regarding steals, Hakeem as a center is number 8 all-time, 8 spots ahead of the guard Kobe. Only someone stupid would even compare them two as defensive players.

And Hakeem had way worse teammates when he won and it's not even close regarding that aspect. Hakeem was also more dominant as a player during his two runs compared to Kobe.

I don't analyze basketball based on stats alone. The reason why I ranked Dr. J at #9, or should have been higher, is because of his cultural impact. Mikan is in my top #10, because he is the prototype of the great centers that came and dominated the league.

Hakeem had 9 seasons where he averaged more than 23 points per game. And already in his 2nd season he was at fourth place in the MVP rankings.
