that's ****ing crazy

glad no one was hurt. you'd think they'd have more precautions for this sort of thing

i'm also kind of surprised no one has been seriously hurt on that show before

its too popular of a show to get hit too much, even the Prez i think watches it, they'll probably have to have some safety inspector out there or something but i can't see it hurting them too much.

they could maybe get them for endangering their lives altho i don't know what law would apply but theres probably something, if not in a civil suit....

i mean house damages are obvious but there should be some compensation for possibly killing them i'd think :confusedshrug:

if people are making such crazy amounts of money for being too fat form fast food and someone bumping their car and claiming whiplash, i wouldn't be surprised if someone got 6 figures for a cannonball careening into their houses.

I love Mythbusters but part of me wants the show to be cancelled so that it kick-starts Kari's downward-spiral that culminates into porn.

For science, of course.

There was no injury, only property damage. Those other tort actions won because they could prove injury(regardless of how stupid or frivolous). Otherwise, you could sue every dumb ass who is driving recklessly but causes no accident.

They will get paid for the property damage and thats it.

Those are personal injury cases. This case is only a personal property damage case.

Even IF there was some endangerment to the person, the individual must show injury...which is nearly impossible. They also have to show that there was intent on the part of mythbusters to commit the wrongful act...in this case its only negligence.

negligence to personal property is only damages to the actual property. nothing more.

How about causing emotional injury or distress on the victims due to the unintentional but negligent actions of jamie and adam? If there is such a law, it's stupid, but they could get a good sum of money from it if they cared enough to even try to fake it and have a good lawyer to back them up...

Kinda think of it, if a pre-schooler or school age child in the room who was inches away from from getting hit, got traumatized by the incident and now has constant nightmares concerning child eating cannonballs.....well its very far fetched... but then again we see people suing Mcdonalds for making them fat. :D

that would be Negligent Infliction of Emotional distress, but it's really been contrained by the courts. in my Tort class this year, i think my prof mentioned it once in passing :lol

From wiki:

The tort is generally disfavored by most states because it appears to have no definable parameters and the potential claims that can be made under the theory are wide open.

It also says recovery of damages from mental injuries isnt forbidden but certain jurisdictions or set of criteria should be met. I guess the improbable scenario ive said isnt included in any of the jurisdictions.

They were unaware of the danger, no emotional injury
