Can't really blame the guy. He's one of the few guys in the NBA with any concept of loyalty and heart. Then he gets completely tossed to the curb by the team he helped build from the ground up to two titles.

So what begins? Stop trying to be dramatic. He got the day off from the Lakers, they gave him some space. He may be pissed with the owners but he is too nice to let that affect our chemistry, he loves his teammmates and on Dec 25, he will show up to play. And the Lakers won 3 championships with the Kobe-Shaq drama, which was far more intense than this. They can handle drama because they are Hollywood. Go worry about the Clippers missing the playoffs again.

I love how giddy fans of these shitty teams are at the prospect of the Lakers blowing up. What's funny is that we will still have a better season than all those teams combined. People have written off the Lakers...which is a good thing. They always lose when they are considered the top dogs. Now they are not anymore, they'll play like they have something to prove...and with all the key players finally healthy, I can't wait for this season to start.

Odom will show up eventually. He's too good of a person and player to not do that.
This does highlight a bigger problem though. Odom mentioned he didn't even receive a phone call from the Lakers' front office. That's on Kupchak, Jim, and Jerry. They have got to show more respect to the players, and quite frankly I think a lot of that falls on Jim Buss.

Might have woke their asses up and perhaps give them more motivation to win a championship. Gotta figure, in Odom and Gasol's mind, the FO don't think they are good enough to win another championship. What better then to go out and win a championship?

if they don't get dwight then this is gonna backfire big time on the lakers
they went from having one of the best trios ever assembled within their grasp, to the the same team that go swept last year by the mavs with even LESS chemistry than before
as for Lamar, i understand he is hurt but i would have loved to see him be more professional
by no means am i saying his actions arent justified; his family uprooted, whole lifestyle change and all
i hope he shows up to camp because I honestly think Lamar has matured over the years into a great player on and off the court, but not showing up would just end up hurting him

I've been saying the same thing all along. A player doesn't tell his team that he's not signing with them as a free agent, and all hell breaks loose. He's now the scum of the earth. A team or owner trades a player, and the player finds out on Sportscenter, and absolutely nothing is said about it.

No I wasn't talking about you at all. It was directed at tools like RRR3.
I agree 100% with you. I'm not so sure the initial trade would have made LA better to begin with, but it would have been better than having our team chemistry royally screwed and two of the most mentally soft guys in the league feeling betrayed and disgruntled.
This is going to be a painful season to watch unless something changes as a Laker fan.

I don't understand why everyone's so happy this trade fell through. It's not like it was clearly in the Lakers favor. They were going to trade for a superstar point guard who's arguably going to play the rest of his career on one leg, and it's not like they were giving up nothing... Gasol and Odom were integral parts of the Lakers' championship teams. It was a huge risk and still is if it goes through, but at this point I want to see the deal be made because A) blocking this trade compromises the integrity of the league and B) we looked to trade our two most fragile players and I don't know how they're going to react.

The only thing I can think of is that the league did it to prevent the possibility of Dwight following CP3 to LA. It doesn't make sense for the league to allow the Hornets front office to negotiate deals, and then pull the rug out from under it at the least minute. There is more to this behind the scenes IMO.

It's a start and it shows he still cares, contrary to what he said earlier in the heat of the moment. He's not going to let his teammates or fans down just because the owner was going to trade him. As long as he gives it all on the court, who cares how he feels about them on a personal level. Even if there is any drama, it will be surrounding the team, not within.

I'm not so sure to be honest with you. Lamar may be a loyal teammate, and an overall good guy, but he is uber sensitive, and mentally a little fragile. I like the guy personally. I hate that he plays for the Lakers, but I am a fan of his, however, I think it will take some time to build these bridges again.

At the risk of coming off as insensitive, I'm going to speak candidly. I think Lamar should've handled this situation more professionally. You've got to be more level-headed about your approach to your profession as an NBA player. Traveling and being traded are just part of the job, you establishing a family in a certain city isn't going to change any of that. You've got to know ahead of time that it is always in a team's best interest to maximize their potential for winning, regardless of whether or not that means shifting players around.
It's understood when you sign that contract that you're being paid millions for your service and the possibility of being traded at any time. You could've chose not to sign the contract, in fact you can still choose to not show up to any games throughout the season if you so choose. But you agreed to this for better or for worse.

What a bitch. Lamar Odom has always been a coward and when things don't go his way he reacts this way. 2008 finals lakers getting that ass whooped about to lose finals...he tackles Ray Allen (attempts to anyway since ray allen saw it coming he mostly go out of the way and used Odom's momentum to throw him forward lol), than last year the crap with Nowitzki. If there's one word Odom will NEVER DEFINE it's this: professional.
while i agree he is being a btch...you can not blame him for trying to hurt ray allen.

while i agree he is being a btch...you can not blame him for trying to hurt ray allen.
That was said before I realized he actually did come in to practice, but I guess I didn't delete it in time, either way he's still a little coward who takes cheap shots when things aren't going his way for his team. Yeah well the only one he hurt trying to tackle Ray was probably himself as Ray saw it coming and while falling threw odom forward with his momentum and he took the bigger fall. He's just a jack ass.
If someone told me I was getting moved to Alaska to make millions I'd do it in a second.
But what if you were already making millions on the beautiful beaches of L.A and they told you to move to Alaska? It's not as if Odom is some average Joe on the streets working 40 hours a week for $10/ hr and then someone just offered him millions. He is already making the millions in a comfortable setting with his family.

odom's feelings are hurt :lol i like odom as a person tho but listening to that interview it sounded like he was being real sensitive about the lakers trying to trade him....surprised he didn't report. odom's a fool tho, he could be getting close to triple double numbers a night as a 1st option for the right team.

What we know about Lamar Odom: came to the practice facility, met w/Mitch Kupchak, & left shortly after. Is not practicing.

I don't need to get a "thicker skin". It's annoying seeing useless drivel is all.

If someone told me I was getting moved to Alaska to make millions I'd do it in a second.
also, gotta love using alaska as the analogy for new orleans

But what if you were already making millions on the beautiful beaches of L.A and they told you to move to Alaska? It's not as if Odom is some average Joe on the streets working 40 hours a week for $10/ hr and then someone just offered him millions. He is already making the millions in a comfortable setting with his family.
If he really gets traded to NO, that means he'll be down there for about five months only. They won't make the playoffs, and then he can sign with whomever he wants next season (LA, LAC, etc.).
I can even see them do "Khloe & Lamar Take New Orleans" and drag Kim's tush down there, to play up the ex-lovers angel with Reggie Bush.
NVM: He is in Miami now I guess.

You're right. That's the spirit. Lord Godbe will average 20 points a game and shoot 30% and lead the Lakers to the 10th seed. DA GAWD!
I see you're in mid-season form already.
Keep drinking that haterade son.

Someone needs to get Hyman Roth to give Lamar a pep talk..

"There was this kid that we drafted back in '94, saw him grow into one of the most popular athletes in the LA area. Eddie Jones was his name, and he was a hell of a player. But there isn't even a plaque, or a signpost or a statue of him in that town! Someone traded him. No one knows who gave the order, I didn't ask who it was. I let it go and I said to myself this is the business we've chosen"

:oldlol: So it begins. On Sportscenter they just reported Pau and rest of team there.. Odom not there, nobody able to reach him. Dude is going to make Lakers chemistry worse than it already is.
Man, I miss the good ol' days when you were bashing Kyrie Irving and trolling Cavs fans.

No shit. New Orleans is a highly underrated city.
Alabama and Florida beaches > LA beaches.

If you got fired from your job only to have them call you back and say "Actually, we can't fire you just yet." how much would you want to show up to work the next day?
If I make what he's making I would give a sh1t

Don't misunderstand me. You're my dude Que. I'm not rooting for this. It's just crazy dramatic... and I'm extremely curious to see what happens. It's not like I'm hoping the Lakers collapse like people here are saying. It's actually the opposite. I'm pulling for the Lakers believe it or not . I put the laughing smilie I guess because it's so predictable. I know Odom's drama from when he was on the Clips and knew he would throw a fit.
If someone told me I was getting moved to Alaska to make millions I'd do it in a second.
that's easy for people like us to say because we've never had millions in pocket before. Odom's been a millionaire since he was 20. So to him it's like a guy making 35K/year being asked to move somewhere to just make another 35K/year.
You would think money would make people humble or blessed but it doesn't.

just because he gets paid millions doesn't mean he's devoid of human emotion. he saw the lakers as family, sacrificed money and a starring role to contribute and felt he did enough to gain loyalty and trust. he planned the team dinners and was seen as the veteran, calm voice in the locker room. then he wasn't even given the courtesy of a phone call. some of you act like he's holding out for the season and refusing to play. he'll get over it...he's just hurt right now.
