Wow. I just saw a few twitter feeds saying Brees picked him up from airport to take him out and make him feel welcome. How fu**ing classy is that!? Props to Brees. I honestly think EJ is going to thrive and like NO much better than he did LA. He likes the smaller, more down to earth feel.

New Orleans is a cool ass city. I would rather be in New Orleans than 75% of the NBA cities. He also has a chance to develop as a player with no restrictions and then leave in 2 years if he feels the need. It isn't that bad of a situation. It isn't the Clipps but it is good. Although the playing for the Clippers could have lead to multiple microfractures or something.

Good move by Drew Breesus

Never been but from what I know I'd prefer NO over LA. Supposedly everybody is like a big family there. Plus the food is epic.

Good move by the sports PR people in New Orleans to get that organized. Brees is a class act, you've gotta try real hard to not like the guy.

Nice story.

This will be a tough season for him team wise but by next year the foundation will be there. Not gonna lie though, if I'm the Hornets and I have a chance to take Lamb, I might take him and trade Gordon.

Yeah, never been to NO, but apparently it's a really fun town with a ton of culture. Also, if Southern Comfort commercials are to be believed, the streetcar operators drive around smashed off their asses.

Also New Orleans has the highest murder rate of any American city and a lot of poverty. Also a hurricane flooded much of the city a few years ago and no help was sent for days. So it has had its problems.

But bottom line, nice gesture by Drew Brees, and Eric Gordon will blow up this season.

Yes... when Eric Gordon puts up 27 ppg, 4 rpg, 5 apg on great shooting as the star on New Orleans why the hell wouldn't they pay him 5 years/80 mill to stay? They would be stupid to not keep him as a cornerstone.

Well to the clipper fans who thought EJ was terrible underrated and has potential to be great. This is his chance. Can he be a first option and a cornerstone of a franchise? Can he put up numbers like that given the oppurtunity? Will he continue to make improvements in his game and bring in wins? I for one would like to know. So

Maybe even 3 rpg. He's a poor rebounder. Over 25 ppg and 5 apg is a lock though.

Those are lofty numbers and I'm not saying Gordon doesn't have the ability to get those soon but not sure if next year he does this. If Clippers gave him a $65-70mil extension this year there would have been plenty fans who'd reason that's a bit excessive.

The trade made this a forgone conclusion they'll have to, even if he puts up 19/3/3. This is the point I'm making.

:applause: Much love and respect for Mr. Brees.

Honestly, I've always had this idea that most NFL players are stuck-up brats who looks down on other pro's especially NBA players but this is only based on the comments I get from ESPN commentators/analysts(most are former NFL players). A lot them seem to think that their league is the only thing that matters in sports.

But Drew Brees is an exception to that. Hopefully, he has better plans after his playing career than to be an analyst.

He was putting up 24.7 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg on efficient numbers just before his nasty wrist injury. Look at his Nov/Dec/Jan averages from last year on ESPN. I don't think he has what it takes to be a SUPERSTAR first option player but don't sleep on him. I can see him being that Brandon Roy type impact player. Not quite elite enough to lead to championship but great wing player. Never the level of prime Kobe/Wade etc.... but definitely very good.

Until he manages to put up Monta numbers (25/5/45% FG) as the clear #1 guy on his team, it's absurd to make such a statement. :facepalm

Does he have the potential? Maybe. But putting up those numbers for the course of 1-2 months with Blake drawing most of the defense's attention doesn't mean jacksh*t.

Make a thread and see how many people agree with you. Eric Gordon is a good defender... that's the big difference here. Eric Gordon DID put up 24.7 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg on 45% shooting before his nasty injury this year. As a SECOND option which is even more impressive. Look at the differences in shot attempts and usage rates then go ahead and get back to me.

I'm speaking from an efficiency standpoint. If you are the number one guy and defenses plan for you every night, your efficiency is guaranteed to drop. I'm sure if Ellis played with Gordon and no other scoring options, he could probably put up 25 ppg and +46% FG.

But of course people take Gordon over Monta because of other reasons (not just offense). Gordon is younger. Monta is a tweener which has a stigma associated with it. Gordon players defense, too. But "way" better? They are close.
