Parker just signed a one year deal. But we can maybe get a draft pick for Tawn, depending if he stays healthy and produces. Which he will with all the playing time he'll get.

Bulls and Knicks had interest in Parker. I was always on board with the far afterthought of signing David Lighty..

Guess Eyenga or maybe Harris will slowly play into the 2.

Varejao is our best player. Shame he wont be playing at his natural position this year.

More than anything I'm talking about his IQ. Look at the last 2 possesions for the pistons even though they didn't score on the first possession when he had the ball down the court he realized that the defense was already setting up so he slowed it down and tried to run a half court offense whiles on the second possesion he reconized quickly that the defense didn't completly set up so he penetrated. He just seems to have a great feel of the game

Meticode

Irving had a solid debut for a rookie. 21 points, but most of those were on free throws which shows he has a knack for attacking the basket at least. A dismal 4-14 shooting effort. He missed all four of his three pointers. Had two steals, didn't take care of the basketball very well with 3 assists versus 5 turnovers with two steals and 6 rebounds.

As I said, solid first game for a rookie, what was most impressive was some of the passes he made as well as him attacking the basket.

I had to drive down to Columbus last night for work purposes, so I didn't get a chance to see the game. However, I was dismayed when I came on here afterward and saw all of the negativity about the game that Irving had and how he had been used and abused by Knight.

I fearfully clicked on to ESPN.com to take a look at the boxscore... Could it have been that bad, I asked myself? The way people were posting, it must have been serious brutality, right?

Cavs win.

Kyrie Irving - 27 minutes, 21 points (4-14 FG, 13-15 FT), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 5 turnovers

Brandon Knight - 22 minutes, 9 points (3-9 FG, 2-2 FT), 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers

:confusedshrug:

Is this what it is going to be like all season? It seems that KI has become a target to a certain sect of fans. Maybe it is an anti-Gilbert thing. Maybe it is a group of people invested in a scouring pre-Draft ranking that they gave Irving and now they are hell bent on trying to prove that they were right?

I watched NBATV's recap show last night so that I could see a little bit of a breakdown of what happened... They were complimentary of Irving's first time out... Incredibly complimentary, as a matter of fact.

For those that don't know, the first preseason game for a rookie is difficult enough. Throw in no training camp and it becomes exponentially more difficult.

Just as a refresher, I remember James' first preseason game in the NBA. He played 26 minutes and scored 8 points of 4-of-12 shooting. His counterpart, Tayshaun Prince, thoroughly outplayed him.

I'm not saying Irving is going to be James (in truth, I don't want him to be as a point guard), but some of you guys need to tap the breaks or risk looking like clueless idiots in a couple of years.

I don't think it was that. In the beginning of the game Knight started by drawing a foul on Irving, hitting a 30 footer in his face and then stealing the ball from him and finishing around on the fast break. About 5 minutes later I turned the game off. I think the comments come from those first few minutes where Irving wasn't looking too good.

Obviously, since I wasn't able to watch, these little intricacies elude me. But, according to the recaps that I've watched, didn't Kyrie explode for, like, 12 points in the second quarter after barely playing in the first? It isn't like most of his points came late in the game.

I don't want to take anything away from Knight, i was just responding to somebody commenting that Knight was way better than Kyrie. They both played well considering the circumstances.

Kyrie played solidly throughout the game. He did try and get others involved but it was a poor shooting night for both teams. Kryie did not get any minutes with the starters either, so his go-to guy became Samardo.

Knight looked quicker, and his outside shot looked better, but Kyrie's handles and ability to get to the basket were better. Kyrie is a huge improvement over sessions at this point. He needs to start and get minutes with guys who can actually finish.

Wait, what? When did Knight steal the ball from Irving? That was a terrible inbounds pass. The Cavs had several of those last night. I cant see how anyone can say Knight outplayed Irving. Neither of them shot that well, both had flashes. I think in the end the box score speaks for itself. Irving appears to have a bright future in the NBA. They both do...

I never said he outplayed Irving. Just said I turned the game off. It was bad basketball and I couldn't watch it anymore.

Well, if he is already better than Sessions, that is enough for me to be excited about his future. Sessions is not a bad PG and for a 19-year-old to basically walk in off of the streets and out-perform him... That is a good sign. Sessions will be a good backup. I'm glad we kept him around.

I obviously don't know how Knight looked last night, but I really liked his game in college. However, I absolutely did not want him on this Cavs' team. We've had enough combo guards over the last decade. I could list at least 10 right off the top of my head. I don't see Knight as being a natural point, as I didn't think he had the handles or the natural mentality to be strictly a point guard.

Kyrie, on the other hand, seems to have the perfect set of skills for the position.
