A month after it got leaked, i can now appreciate music as an art form when regarding drake. Top of the line production Best album i have heard since Enimem's Marshall Mathers LP. 15 out of the 17 tracks are quality songs.
The versatility of the album/artist is shocking it is hard to believe, if i didn't hear it with my own ears.
It has :
Radio hits: Make Me Proud ft. Nicki Minjai
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P9kVNvwkLQ
Slow songs: Real Her
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTK46FJNA44&feature=related
Rap songs : Hell Yeah F*ckin Right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muUEyXj-iqk
http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo356/kamerond89/hater.jpg
Drake once again proves he is the most talented mainstream artist since Enimem in his prime. :applause:

wait do you really think his name is enimem?
he has similar qualities to enimem. What made Eminem arguably the goat, in my eyes ( and many others) was his ability to do everything regarding music. he can write, freestyle, make pop hits, slow songs, fast songs. It didn't matter.
Enimem's Hallie s Song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCrQL8D_r6c

Since the MMLP? Are you serious, OP?
I can name 5 mainstream albums off the top of my head that came AFTER the MMLP that are better than Drake's current commercial garbage.
Want me to list them?
Hell, **** a response. I'll post them anyway (in no particular order, but numbered so you can see it's 5 without having to count them yourself):
1. The Eminem Show
2. Stillmatic
3. The Black Album
4. Get Rich or Die Tryin' <<<< say what you will of 50 Cent, but this album was genius
5. Recovery
And just because I feel like it, let's add in:
The Game's R.E.D & The Documentary
Ludacris' Red Light District, Release Therapy & Theater of the Mind
and anything released by Lupe Fiasco
^^^ All those are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Drake's current album

Some of Drake's older stuff off of mixtapes is good but most of the new stuff is geared towards women. Too many love songs and in "I'm Proud Of You" he talks about holding hands. Can't get into the soft stuff like that.

Is this a tween wave thing? You know like that southpark episode...I came into this thread expecting to hear music ala eminem in his heyday since the word masterpiece caught me and drove me to enter this thread. But i just dont see how anyone can like this. Im not a rap/hip hop fan but i appreciate the works of dr.dre, eminem, tupac and the like. I think when music is good it wont really matter what kind of music one prefer. But maybe i am getting old...Im 23 years old and most of the mainstream songs sounds like sht to me.

Pretty much. To go platinum you need to pander to the lowest common denominator of music listeners by making music that is bland enough not to offend but catchy enough to sing along to.

Lil Wayne has made a living of putting out amazing singles. Then you buy ( or illegally download his album) and the rest of songs are garbage.
There isn't a single song on Drake's Take Care album that is better than Lil Wayne's Carter IV She Will. but Take Care is far superior to Tha Carter IV. Even Wayne agreed with that.

Well Drake is a decent artist....Please undergound fans don't flame me.
He can sing nice hooks, he has execellent production, from what I have heard, but it all doesn't matter he is a b*tch made, corn ball that makes music for females that want to hear corny lines about, how I can do a girl better than her man now. It is soft as fck I mean look at his music video headlines, his crew rocks snuggy tight Cosby shirts lol.
Ok, on the real I'm not mad at any dewd that likes Drake because they will defend him like a father and it is no point arguing. Drake is a subpar rapper though, not to say he couldn't get better and this album is not for me sans the Rick Ross song cause Just Blaze went ham, egg, cheese, and croissant on that beat -Chris Smoove voice- "Ha haaaa".
Anyways if you like Jodeci but on estrogen you will love Drake simple as that, if you want to serenade h*es with that new soft r and b ish you'll like Drake, I ain't mad just not my style.

I respect Drake in that he has found his niche and done very well in marketing himself to a very broad and spacious audience. I would never take that away from him. I've enjoyed quite a few things he has put out, he's pretty clever himself when he wants to be lyrically.
Just, IN MY OPINION (word to iggy's ******) the formatting of his tracks have become pretty mediocre BECAUSE he's now obligated to deliver to his audience that have more, let's say shallow musical preferences.

They arent f@g tunes, stop being a dumbass. Rap needs the balance between the Drake's and Young Jeezy's. I think that everyone fills a void and you shouldn't shit on someone for doing something different and still having respect for the art form. He still raps, has nice lines, a lot of quotables, he's doing his thing. Stop typecasting his songs as emo rap. Only a couple of the songs on Take Care were emo.

Magnificent is a really laid back track. Great for hittin the freeway.
Yea give The Last Kiss a thorough listen to again. As I said, it's really well rounded. To me, the tone is what a studio rap album should strive for. Not compromising the artist's true persona but still choosing an eclectic assortment of beats and songs.
" I perfected my craft from a different aspect
So the bars is lethal and the voice is a asset
And as far as the people, they ain't finish the class yet
I'm beyond these feeble-mind rappers that half step
I dun carve the way, for these ****** like Aztecs
I touch souls, somethin's felt; yeah, I'm somethin else"
The way he delivers that is so hard! Love the delivery, the beat is intimidating and the lyrics are serious

one thing i don't understand for the people that state Drake is " soft"....... he has never protrayed himself at a pure rap lyricist. That's like saying Usher, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown etc is soft. Drake is no different then them, just he has more rapping talent.
