He is the only one allowed to wear it because it is for his mask. .

After all these years Rip's headband is infused into his forehead

I figured it was a facemask thing. He has no reason to wear that still, not sure why he does.

Chicago is allowing Rip to wear it.

They did the same thing with Ben Wallace.

If a player really wants to wear one, they'll allow it.

And if you play like Hamilton did tonight, then whatever makes them happy. Awesome game from him tonight, he fit in perfectly.

Same as the Yankees no facial hair rule. Just something I think Skiles didnt approve of. I'm not sure if the Bulls still follow the rule. I too like ballinhun was under the impression that was a Skiles rule. Bulls fan that true?

Oh... I really had no clue. I just didn't know those kind of rules were around in the NBA that were team specific.

The Bulls still follow that rule. One of the first things I read about after the Rip-Bulls signing was the speculation that management may make an exception for Hamilton to wear his headband due to its use in conjunction with his face mask.

Other teams have them too. Blazers do. They probably didn't want this mistake again (play the song): http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/BlogtownPDX/archives/2008/06/30/can-i-get-a-headband

I always thought it was a Skiles rule. As far as I know that rule left when he did.

No the rule was because of eddie robinson. It came straight from Reinsdorf

Skiles is an As$....
(I hav no idea why that affends Skiles .... I hav to wonder if some player kicked his as$ so bad wearing a head band , that he doesn't want to be reminded. )

Rip doesn't wear a headband - his mask wears it.

-------------
Was it Bonzi Wells or Outlaw , that used to wear a head band around their neck .... I remember someone did.

(I always laughed at Fish wearing his like ear muff's)

I always thought it was a Skiles rule. As far as I know that rule left when he did.
From a couple of days ago:

Whether Hamilton will be allowed to wear his signature headband remains to be seen.

“To be honest with you, that hasn’t even come up yet,” general manager Gar Forman said. “That’s a good question that I don’t have an answer for right now.”

The Bulls wouldn’t let Ben Wallace wear a headband when he came to Chicago from Detroit in 2006. Hamilton not only wears a headband but also a mask after twice breaking his nose.

“We haven’t allowed headbands,” Forman said. “I don’t know if with the mask that’s required and where he is with the mask. That’s something we’ll look into.”

Hamilton wasn’t aware of the Bulls’ long-standing team policy.

“Headband, mask, that’s my look,” he said. “That’s like my cape. I can’t live without it. I can’t play without it. That’s my twist.”

Coach Tom Thibodeau said he just wants Hamilton to wear whatever makes him feel confident.

“I’m comfortable with the mask,” he said. “If it helps him shoot, whatever he needs, I’m all for it.”

He played just enough to get revenge on Portland by making them lose salary money. Then he went to being lazy and a criminal.

Rip broke his nose a few times and he wears the mask as preventative measure...I believe he will require major reconstructive surgery if it is broken again.

Not only is Rip wearing a headband (from the preseason highlights) but he gets to wear his 32. CJ Watson had to change his. :lol

This, I don't mind him wearing it to be honest, as long as he keeps playing like he did last night.
