Possibly no Bynum or Kobe to start the season for LAL, could get ugly.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who suffered a right wrist injury in Monday night’s game against the Clippers, was examined today by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and underwent an MRI exam. Results show that Bryant has a torn lunotriquetral ligament.
Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Clippers and his status is day-to-day.

The failed Chris Paul trade, the departure of a trusted teammate and the dissolution of a decade-long marriage.
If that wasn't enough, the hits keep coming for Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant. The Lakers announced on Wednesday that Bryant has a torn ligament in the wrist on his shooting hand and will not play in Wednesday night's exhibition game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who suffered a right wrist injury in Monday night’s game against the Clippers, was examined today by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and underwent an MRI exam. Bryant played 30 minutes in Monday's 114-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, tallying 22 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and committing 7 turnovers.
The Lakers open their regular season on Christmas Day, hosting the Chicago Bulls at Staples Center.
Bryant, 33, did not miss a game during the 2010-2011 NBA season. He's missed just 16 combined games over the last six seasons.

I tore all the ligaments in my left ankle when I was 15 and never had surgery but I did have to do a ton of physical therapy and rehab to get the strength back and it still is so weak now and I'm 23. When ligaments tear, they never fully heal back on their own. Broken bones on the other hand generally heal back much stronger in the spot where the break was.
I remember seeing this play happen in the game. He looked to hit it on the backboard then land on it hard too.

wrist ligaments can easily mean injuring a ligament that controls your fingers..
basically = not bieng able to move fingers 100% on your shooting hand.

What a blow. You get an extended period of time off due to the lockout to rebound from injuries and then you get hit with something like this during a preseason game. He shouldn't have reentered the game in the 4th a couple of nights ago... completely pointless, thickheaded gesture. He wasn't going to will that team to a win on Monday night.
The guy will definitely play the season opener, no doubt. Though he won't be 100%, obviously. He realizes Bynum is gone, chemistry is lacking and they'll be reeling from the loss of Odom... he's not going to sit in street clothes and watch Rose tear his team apart.

Yeah pretty much. I don't think we'll be winning a championship this season but I am interested to see how it plays out.
I don't know how most Laker fans feel, but a lot of excitement I had for the season sort of went by the wayside after the whole Cp3 trade veto and subsequent Lamar trade. Obviously I'll still tune in and see how the Lakers are doing but it does feel as though we've taken a couple steps back.

I don't see how we contend this season, barring a ridiculous year where Kobe turns back the clock and Bynum and Gasol finally stay healthy and gel on the court. If were going to win Kobe's going to have to turn the clock back to 08-09 and create for his teammates. The 09-10 seasons was really the first year where Kobe stopped breaking down defenses and getting guys open looks, he was more of a finisher than anything else, where in previous years he was also a facilitator.

Yeah it does just out of nowhere. Honestly, what I would've done is left the team as it was. L.O. may have been unhappy or whatever, but he was going to have to play through it cuz I wasn't trading him anywhere. I also heard that JB has let it be known that he's not going to sign off on a Bynum trade, so I have no idea of what to expect now at all. All we can do is wait to see what comes out of this season.

Kobe has already played more playoffs and regular season games that Michael Jordan. He's going to decline faster than Jordan because of his injuries and basketball mileage. I don't see Kobe playing in his late 30's. He already fulfilled his goal of winning an NBA Final MVP, and winning an NBA title as the number one option of his team.

HIlarious someone with a LeBron avatar talking about "elite players" when your boy couldn't even get it done IN HIS PRIME with BETTER help than Kobe had (imagine if Kobe had Wade and Bosh next to him and he failed to win by disappearing in the fashion that LeFraud did in the finals). Weren't you a Cavs fan a couple of years ago?
Mavericks swept the Lakers in the 2nd round. LeBron actually put up more efficient numbers and better overall stats than Kobe againts the same Dallas team. Bulls would have beaten the Heat in the conference Finals if you replace Kobe with LeBron. I don't think the Current Kobe is capable of shutting down Derrick Rose. Please remember that Wade was MIA in the conference Finals

Do you honestly think Kobe Bryant will play just as a "good player". He's not the same type of guy as a Shaq, when he's unable to play at a superstar caliber and be the #1 guy, he'll retire.
I really don't know. He is the type of guy who never wants to hang it up but I don't think he'll continue playing if he doesn't feel he is effective anymore. I'm not sure how Kobe will go out.
