I've had really positive experiences with Jordans on the hardwood. I've been using variations of them for the better part of the past 10 years and experienced little to no issues. I first bought a pair of grey V's on a whim in '00 for my junior year of high school (at the time I thought they'd work well because they were a lot higher on the ankle than the team Questions we wore a year earlier when I experienced spraining issues) and they actually really worked out well. I admit I did have a pair of VII's which had a part rip up by the ankle from trying to squeeze my foot out of them without undoing the laces properly, but that was pretty fixable and they remain in use to this day (purchased in '03).

Otherwise, Jordan's have served me quite well in my playing experiences. I bought a pair of original Hyperdunks when they came out and they did indeed feel a little lighter than I was used to, but it wasn't groundbreaking. I really did like the Hyperdunks though, despite the foam-like part of the shoe splitting only a few months after purchase (shoe-goo sort of fixed the problem).

I know I'm not going to change your mind or anything but out of curiosity, what is it that makes someone an automatic douche to you if they're wearing Jordans on the basketball court? I'm not a basketball god, but I certainly don't feel as though I'm just a complete scrub out on the floor trying to look sweet because I have Jordans. Most often, it's just a matter of seeing a pair of shoes I really like and then buying them. And if I buy a pair of basketball shoes, my plan is to wear them for basketball.

I think you may have missed the whole point of the topic.
Well, I was speaking more toward 9's one singular statement. I understand the overarching issue (i.e. the reason this thread was made) had more to do with a portion of the population using extreme means to acquire an overly expensive pair of shoes. And I agree it's terribly disappointing and sad to see folks rioting over something so small and in the scheme of things, unimportant.

However, I've kind of been discussing that portion of this Jordan stuff on the Free Press website in and out throughout the day. Therefore, I was more curious in this case with the Jordans-on-court portion 9er mentioned. He's not alone in his thoughts in that regard. I've heard it before. I think it goes by a case-by-case basis. I've had an assortment of Jordans (and used them all on the basketball court except for the I's) and aside from a piece of upper sheath slightly tearing on the VII's (which I think I mentioned earlier) I have not experienced any breakdown until around the five year mark.

With all that said, I initially use my shoes for indoor play exclusively. Once they begin to wear past a certain point, they'll then cross over into outdoor shoes, at which point they begin to break down relatively quickly.

Just to be clear, I'd never condone doing what these people all did for a pair, and $180 is definitely out of my price range, but overall, I've had a lot of great experiences with them as basketball shoes (which is ironically contrary to how most people use them today). Truly, if they hurt my ability to dunk or slowed me down, I would have switched them up in a second because I need all the advantages I can get. But they held true and strong.

I agree that at some point they will indeed not be as popular as they are now. Though, I'm not sure I'd call this particular pair of Jordan's a Flavor of the Month. I don't mean to split hairs, and I'm not trying to justify the craze, but of all the Jordan shoes ever produced, the Concord's have been received and accepted as one of the, if not the ultimate Jordan shoe. It's been like that for a long time. I remember reading publications over ten years ago who treated them with the same lore, talking about them being the perfect basketball shoe and how some folks even wore them for formals and weddings. So in a lot of cases (like the release of the Wolf Grey V's earlier this year) I think you're right with the Flavor of the Month thing. This obsession with the XI's though has been going on for lonnnnng time.

Furthermore, I'm not sure it's so much of a disservice to collectors to re-issue these shoes. The ability to distinguish between the true originals and each series of retros is still existent. Moreover, with a limited release, it seems Jordan Brand is going out of their way not to flood the market, which is surely part of what's leading to such perceived misguided hysteria. Folks knew there were only a certain amount and they knew the window for acquiring them was slim.

So I mean, on one hand yes, more Jordan XI's are now in existence. But I'd hardly call that flooding the market. Personally, I like being able to buy what I like, so I'd prefer there not being a limited release on Jordans. But I guess it has to be one way or the other for Jordan Brand. Flood the market and possibly kill the "gotta have 'em" appeal or trickle the market and make people go insane for them. The majority of folks, no matter how much they like the style, will not participate in such hysteria, but unfortunately there will always be a mass that will.

nah just like with everything. Jordan's, hip-hop music, etc the demographic of the biggest sales are easily the white suburban young male from 11-25 years. That's where all the money is at, not the black community. it def not a black thing, but black people go more ham over it, so you make think that were to be the case.

As for the shoes they are nice, very lightweighted kicks. Not my favorite pair of Jordans ( i was always XII 1997 Playoff run one) and his older pairs like the III, IV, IV, VI. but i do understand they are easily the holy grail of basketball shoes, especially the Concord color. Like many Jordan's they look a lot better in person then in picture.
