McGee. He thinks he can and should dunk from anywhere on the court regardless who's in front of him.

Im not specifically criticizing the Wizards, but it is the truth that the 3 dumbest players in the NBA play for them and are in their starting lineup.

Anthony Randolph gets my 4th spot. He is just clueless out there on the floor.

Jon Brockman is the Rob Gronkowski of the NBA, except he doesn't get any playing time.

Monta gets quite the hate for "his accent" and his lack of facebook/twitter/computer knowledge, but I've watched some interviews before and he's quite the family man. Got a lot of love for his son. Being someone who's dad wasn't there, I think that is respectable.

As far as b-ball IQ goes... Javale McGee takes the cake. Dude could be one of the better big men in the league, has the athleticism, the length, the god given ability to do amazing things, but he doesn't utilize it to it's full potential and is often the dumbest player on the court :rant

Not really. It might show that they lack emotion or a sense of morality, but it isn't necessarily indicative of their level of intelligence. Some of the most intelligent people have little capacity for emotion; serial killers, dictators, etc.

He's not dumb. He had a tough life growing up, saw basketball as an opportunity to get out of the gutter and went for it. Straight out of high school, didn't go to college. There are more things to life than just being book smart. The people who are dumb are the ones who've had opportunities before them and wasted them... see JaVale McGee.

Again...

Serial killers... often people who have had a bad experience with a person think it's reasonable to go around killing people with physical/social characteristics similar to that person... wheres the logic and intelligence in that?

Dictators... have clearly not learned from history that a dictator will at some point be violently overthrown by his people, as is stated in The Prince. Again, where's the logic and intelligence in that?

Monta's use of the english language isn't the greatest, and neither is his familiarity with certain technology, but he is intelligent enough to not go around taking away peoples right to live(serial killers) or severely limiting the things they can do with their lives (dictators)

I personally think Monta is in general the more intelligent human being than those other two people you mentioned...

You're still confusing morality/emotion with intelligence. Are you saying you don't think it's possible for someone to be malevolent and intelligent? Look at Ted Kaczynski. He graduated from the University of Michigan and did some brilliant work in mathematics (bounded harmonic functions) and became an assistant professor at Berkeley. Then he went on to kill people. If you're trying say that his choice to murder made him unintelligent, I think we can agree that we have different criteria for intelligence and end this now.

morality and intelligence are quite different.

Still I don't necessarily think that Ellis is dumb... I mean I don't know much about him other than that his game is sick but that one video doesn't convince me. If you're making a lot of money you don't have to know how to use computers...

I want to see him doing something actually dumb if all these people claim that he's stupid.

Also Arenas seems pretty intelligent, the gun incident was pretty wild though.

I disagree. Would you say decision making is a factor of human intelligence? I would. Someone who makes terrible decisions in life is already at a disadvantage against someone who makes good decisions. Often what helps us make decisions is our sense of morality, therefore morality is a factor of human intelligence. If you are a relatively "book-smart" person, and you then decide to go on a killing spree, then your decision making is pretty bad. And you probably did one of the stupidest things any human being could do.. taking away from your intelligence.

As far as how much I've seen of him Lamar Odom is definitely below par as far as basketball IQ goes. Even in his last game as a Mav i saw him come off the bench and hit a contested three, and then his next 3 possessions are offensive foul, turnover, defensive foul. This is not a one-time occurrence since any Laker fan can tell you that they've seen this scenerio play out many times when Odom was a Laker but with that said he can have extremely efficient and brilliant games as well.

You're saying those are stupid decisions. Why? People are motivated by different desires. Not everybody is guided by morality or seeking self-preservation. Some people desire the gratification they receive by raping, killing and destroying. Does that make them demented, evil or bad human beings? Sure. But it's not indicative of their intelligence level. Morality and intelligence are not inextricably linked. They are two distinct, separate qualities. Not all intelligent people are good people; as I already mentioned, Ted Kaczynski is but one example.

If Albert Einstein had suddenly decided to kill people in New Jersey at the ripe age of 65, would he suddenly be considered unintelligent? No. Only a fool would think that. His accomplishments would remain unchanged and so would his intelligence required for them.

Again this is what i'm talking about. His intelligence required for those accomplishments remains unchanged, but I am talking about his intelligence as a whole, as a human being not just academically. I guess I am judging their intelligence on a wider basis while you guys are focusing in on a specific part of their life. Fair enough, agree to disagree.

There is a reason he cheated on his SATs

There is a difference between book smart and street smart. Rose is very street smart from what I hear. Know your stuff kid. I would rather be street smart than book smart, you go farther in life.

As I clearly explained before... I don't consider IQ to be the only way to measure intelligence while you do... do you not understand?

There is no doubt that there are people who excel in academic intelligence but lacks appropriate moral sense and/or fails to act on what is socially acceptable.

In a way i tend to agree with you with regards to intelligence in totality. There are different types of intelligence aside from excelling in academics. I agree with Richard Feynman when he says that 'one of the highest form of understanding we can achieve is laughter and compassion'. Our ability to understand human emotion and act congruously and more, is a form of intelligence in itself. Those individuals whose actions diverted from what should be are considered foolish in that regard. Also, doing things unnecessarily just to gain pleasure and/or excitement are unwise choices which can put one in harms way.

In addition i consider wisdom and intelligence to be inseparable. I think being smart and being wise go hand in hand.

Ex nba player tromile Swift. He was really dumb. After almost after 90%of the season the Rockets players were still trying to tell him how to run the plays and where he needed to be positioned.. He was really dumb.

You have to be at least kind of dumb to get your name changed to Metta World Peace, especially with his reputation...
