View Full Version : I'm so pissed they added Shaq to Inside

FourthTenor

They had easily the best sports show on TV. Everyone fit perfectly. The nuclear family with EJ, Kenny and Charles, then the extended studio family with C-Web, Reggie, McHale etc.

Then they had to force The Big Attention Whore into the mix. Dude throws the chemistry all off. It's like rather than just let it flow the way it always does naturally, they have to do x amount of stuff to acknowledge that shaq is now there.

WTF were they thinking. Inside was one of my favorite weekly treasures. Now it's all but ruined. It's gonna be so awkward and forced.

IM FUKCING PISSED.

If it doesn't work (and I don't think it will), what are the chances they'll simply tell him to get lost in few months?

Shaq laughed extra hard when Kobe entered the arena wearing a skully cap, scarf and wool jacket.

"Is it cold in Cali?"

And people say "he from Philly". Foh

Yeah, he's a funny personality. Even his cheap shots will be entertaining. Much better than Chris talk out the corner of my mouth because I cant help it Webber. It might get a lil too silly at times but overall I think it'll work.

That's the only way he can redeem himself, IMO, with the low-blows. Barkley and Kenny will clown on guys for what they wear to the arena (kobe) or stuff about who they're dating (humphries) etc. but they're just doin it in fun. Shaq really does hate and is jealous of every player still in the L, especially the stars. If he has the stones to actually say things about dudes that make everyone at home's eyes bug, then fine.

I wouldn't have a problem if they used him as part of the extended family, and let him split time between studio appearances on Inside and some other gig on NBA TV. But full-time part of the Inside crew? Why fix what wasn't broken?

Barkley was criticizing the TEAM not one player over and over.

Did they ask the RETARD to explain that statement? He is going to be the EMMIT SMITH of NBA Analysts. Smith was horrible too and ESPN waited until the end of the season to fire him.

I just think they put themselves in such a tough position if it doesn't work out. It'd be much more awkward firing Shaq from inside than letting go of Emmit Smith from the general ESPN ensemble. It would take a serious bag of onions by someone at Turner to do that, even IF Shaq is legitimately stinking up the show. He is an icon and they made such a big deal about him coming to the program. And of course you KNOW Shaq would start firing off insults at anyone and everyone involved with the network. Then he'd go to ESPN and be liked "Joe Shmoe is the best producer I've ever had. Brian Kinny is the best host I've ever worked with. Bruce Bowen is like Michael Corleone, blah blah"

The dude is just too much. Acts like a 12 year old, and really isn't particularly funny or insightful.

Inside is more entertainment/comedy than real basketball updates on NBATV. It'll take a little time, but they'll mesh sooner or later. Shaq is too popular to get kicked off and who knows when Chuck will quit. Chuck wasn't even planning on staying on the show for more than a year or two. Maybe his debt is bad though.

I liked C-Webb, but come on, give Shaq a little bit of time. He has a fun personality and likes making jokes, going back and forth with people. I am glad he was added as part of the crew and I look forward to seeing him get comfortable with the new role.

This site is way too impulse and constant overreactions, lol.

The dude is just too much. Acts like a 12 year old, and really isn't particularly funny or insightful.

He also throws off the dynamic. The other three exist on a different intellectual plane, and they dumb down the content to accommodate Shaq.

I understand TNT wants to attract viewers, but for every kid who watches the show because of Shaq, there will be two longtime 'Inside' fans who say, "screw this."

It was a balsy move, and now I hope TNT is balsy enough to show Shaq the exit.

It's because they're using LAV mics so it picks up all of the bass from his voice. If they were using a different kind of mic it would work better... But the show is improv and on the fly so they can't really do anything in post or use a different mic.
