I'd Take Durant over LeBron.... Durant is proving to be the most unguardabe force in the league not named carmelo anthony. Can you Imagine how unstoppable Miami would be with Durant instead of Lebron?....

This.
He looks great off the dribble. Also is starting more of his offense closer to the basket, particularly in the post. Hopefully he puts together a sick scoring year (31-32 ppg, 61-63 TS%), something which I expected last year from him.

Yeah and Melo doesn't have Kobe's post game.
Melo's career 3pt average: 0.322
Kobe's career 3pt average: 0.339
Kobe can create a lot more shots then Melo.
Kobe's midrange shot is top 3 in the league. Not sure where we can find their percentages?
Not saying Melo is bad, he's a top 3 as far as scoring goes. I'm just saying Kobe needs a mention.

I said before I thought Durant was going to take a major step forward. Lebron and him played at literally every game they could physically attend this summer, then worked out against each other non stop. I don't see how it would be possible to NOT get better playing against that level of competition so much.
End result is Lebron's game looks more polished than ever and his athleticism back up a notch, and Durant taking the next step towards being a true superstar.
I hope the Heat take advantage of their current slight edge(and Westbrick being retarded), b/c very soon his friend Kevin is going to be the biggest threat to not 1, not 2...

Both have been unguardable to be honest. Lebron has made some shots that just had me shaking my head. But the defense is really what's making Lebron the better player at this point.
For OKC I feel like Durant could easily be taking 5 more shots a game, he's steadily getting 30 a game, but still feels passive to me? Does anyone else feel like this?

Him and Melo have these weird games where they put up a quiet 30 pts. You check the box score mid way in the 4th and its "wtf when did he even get to 25?" It has alot to do with them getting to the free throw line.

Since both of them sorta got killed for not performing in the playoffs let's see how they do there first. At this point it does seem like they're just up and above everyone else though, with Wade clearly playing like the 3rd best player in the league. Scary.

I'd actually be sorta worried if I was a Heat fan. It looks like LeBron's athletic decline was sorta overblown, which makes last year's Finals performance even more puzzling.

It was a combination of both but it was mainly a lack of reliable scoring moves.
The Heat were up nine points in game four with around 4-5 minutes left, when Jason Terry scored the four quick points that started the comeback. All LeBron did was stand there and watch Terry score. He quit on the whole team in a game, where he had nothing going offensively and they still could have taken an almost insurmountable 3-1 series lead, if he had bothered to try. So he did quit on his team, because the Mavs had shut him down offensively.

Is that what this has come down to? Every great performance by any player who either has had lapses in the playoffs or failed to make it to the finals is going to be described with a "cool, but let's see them do it in the playoffs/finals"? Why can't we enjoy a good performance and appreciate it for what it is.
The games in the playoffs will be discussed when they need to be discussed; it's the beginning of the regular season. It's as if none of you enjoy watching the game, and try to find any reason to diminish anything anyone wants to prop up regardless of how absurd it is.
There wasn't a forum back then but I'd imagine people were respecting the likes of D-Rob/Ewing/Malone's brilliant performances without boiling it all down to a depressing "wait till the playoffs".
Enjoy good basketball. There's a long road to the playoffs/finals that will have plenty of unbelievable performances along the way; appreciate them and stop being miserable about everything.
