Let's say your team is Down 25 points to start the 4th quarter, and you had the choice to pick any 5 current players to bring you back and win the game?
Which players would you choose?

Also, if you pick Kobe, you should really just pick 4 other people who are good passers/defenders, and extraordinarily unselfish, because I doubt they'll see the ball very much.

You want a facilitator? Melo does that.
You want a three point shooter? Melo nails that. Especially game winners.
You want a post threat? Melo is quite adept from that range.
You want a pick-and-roll ballhandler? Melo is exceptional.
You want a pick-and-roll/pop big? Melo can do that.
You want an iso play? Melo.

You want a game winner? Melo all fvcking day. "I DO THIS."

JaredZwerling Jared Zwerling
Carmelo Anthony is currently the NBA's best 4th-quarter player ... Averaging 10.1 points, 54.5 FG%, 58.3 3FG%, 84.2 FT% ...

JaredZwerling Jared Zwerling
Kevin Durant and Brandon Jennings are tied for second at a 7.7 points average in the fourth quarter ...

If Melo can't even get mention in this thread, he is truly one of the most underrated players in the league.

The usual short term memory problems with ISH. "LeBron is nowhere to be found in the 4th quarter" and "LOL, he blows in the clutch"

The same guy that led the league in 4th quarter scoring from 2008-2010 and single handedly made comebacks in the 4th while he was in Cleveland is all of a sudden useless in the 4th? How many times did he bring Cleveland back in those years? I still remember a week stretch in the 2008-2009 season in which the team was down double figures in the 4th quarter throughout that entire week and you just knew that no matter how much they were losing by, they were coming back to win that game.

Here's the start of that week:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200903100LAC.html
Cleveland ourscores the Clippers by 21 in the 4th quarter to win by 4, LeBron leading the charge with 32/13/11.

In Phoenix the next game LeBron again triple doubles with 32/10/13 to bring back the Cavaliers against the Suns, outscoring them by 12 in the 4th quarter.

The next night in Sacramento the Cavaliers come from 14 behind to start the 4th to force overtime against the Kings, and then take the lead and the game in overtime. Oh, LeBron had 51/4/9 that game to lead that comeback. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200903130SAC.html

And this isn't random nitpicking a few games throughout the season, this was 3 straight games within a 4 day period that I remembered till now just because of how dominant he was. A 21, 14, and 12 point comeback 3 games in a row, all done in the 4th quarters with him leading the charge. And yet somehow people that don't watch him love to point out this mythical "disappearance" in the 4th quarter of games. But of course, we saw it happen (or heard about it happening because we don't actually watch games) in the most recent series and therefore have concluded that this is the norm despite it being the first time it's happened in his 8 year career.

Why don't you actually read the thread before talking? Multiple people have said he's useless in the 4th or he's included on these teams "for shits and giggles"

and LeBron has just as strong of a scoring mentality as any of those guys when leading a comeback, which he's shown multiple times. Of course people who don't watch aren't aware of it.

Not counting the Finals, Lebron was pretty unstoppable in the final minutes of games. It was like wow, but then that gets erased with his performance in the finals.

Now I remember back in the 90s, didn't matter how much my team was up, 2 minutes left, just so much fear that Jordan was going to destroy that.

Here's Jordan 19 points in the last 6 minutes. But I think it was because the person who was guarding him started talking shit to him, from what I remember.

if not for the criteria being current player, i would have roy in my team too. one of the smartest player the league has seen.

i notice alot of posters picking small lineups, but when u're playing from behind, points in the paint is something u definitely can't allow for the opponents. it's like if they score 10 in the 4th, u need to score 35. to have a chance to win. u need to take away easy baskets from them, and give yourself easy baskets.

Alan

Howard, Ray Allen and LeBron are must.

PF and PG spots are difficult to choose. I'm not sure if you need very good defensive players on those positions if you have Howard and James already. Perhaps put Durant on 4 and either Rondo or Nash on point.

You start with the three best closers in the game; Dirk, Melo, & Kobe. You put a great defensive big on the floor in Dwight and you put a defensive PG that can hit all the open shots awaiting him, i.e. Jason Kidd.

That's your team.

Now if you said KOBE instead of Durant... then i would understand better.... Durant aint nothing but a Danny Granger fighting desperately to be better than that....
Because Durant is built as a scorer. Nothing else. I'd rather have somebody that can get you 3's as fast as LeBron can get to the line. So wait, Durant has bad decision making and IQ now? Do you not watch Thunder games? Probably not. So what if he hasn't had a 50 point game? It's the 4th quarter, I'd much rather have a trusty Durant shot than anybody in the league, with the exception of Kobe maybe.

And heres the quote of the day folks.... "Durant aint nothing but a Danny Granger fighting desperately to be better than that...."

I guess there was no chance in hell the refs were gonna call him for the crab dribble there at the end.

Nonetheless, this is a 1-time Lebron of the past. You won't see this from him ever again
