I grew up watching basketball and believing in statistics. Numbers never lie. 2 plus 2 is 4.

I have found out this year that numbers do lie.

Numbers no longer tell the truth. Numbers once told me how good of a player is. It no longer does that.

Celtics4ever

Does he really get that nervous? I think he is so scared of failure that he doesn't believe in himself. He has no killer instinct. I think he is a good player, but I think he is overrated to a degree until he starts showing me some clutch performances. Tonight he missed key free throws and shots. Last night he was a no show in the 4th.

Last night was a lack of Effort and tonight was just playing terrible on both ends.. Fouling Billips on that 3 was a Huge Play lets not forget. It seems the reason he is passive is cause he does not want to be exposed or called a choker like tonight. Either Way Lebron could not have a WORSE back to back 4th Qtr and OT than the past 2 nights. Good news he has a lot of season to get this mental crap figured out cause if he can return to pre MIami 4th qtr form the Heat will not be stopped this year.

Lebron has 23 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists tonight in a losing effort. He is averaging 29/7/7 on 60% FG but it doesn't make one ounce of difference.

Objectively:

-this guy is a perimeter player that cannot hit FTs. 9-17 FT tonight, a 67-75% FT shooter his whole career.

-this guy's game is not smooth at all. No move looks refined or smooth. Everything is so raw. He has absolutely no touch. His misses are not even close at times from inside 15 feet.

-he has no post game.

-consistently disappears and chokes in clutch situations.

-2 worst finals appearances of all time.

He is just a video game type player that gets by with athleticism, running over and into people and dunking, bullying people. He is great at basketball because of his height and his god given physical frame, but he is not a great basketball player.

It is Lebron's team and he is the one to blame for tonight's and last night's performances. Defensively played horribly so as his offensive performance in the 4th quarter. He did missed key free throws + missed a layup to put the heat up by one late 4th Q. Then missed one out of two free throws to put them up instead tie game. You see 33 year old kobe, 16th season scoring 90 points in 48 hours, on a barrage of jumpshots, pullups, just total mastery, toying with defenders. You see guys even like Nash and CP3, nearly flawless players, masters of the game. Lebron just isn't a baller IMO.

This is a serious, non-troll, non-game related thread. Not sure why it was deleted. This needs to get discussed.

People need to watch games, stop judging a players ability by stats and FG%.
Lebron has 23 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 7-19 FG tonight in a losing effort.

If you want great basketball players, nearly flawless, masters of the game, true basketball geniuses see:

-Michael Jordan
-Kobe Bryant
-Steve Nash
-Chris Paul

etc. These guys have skill, they are masters of the game. Everything is efficient motion, skills, finesse, mastery. Lebron just does not impress me. I don't think this guy has ever been the best player in the NBA. He is not even the best player on his own team.

All your criticisms relate to shooting.

Notice how since Lebron came into the league, all his teams have been very good, despite some very questionable rosters around him.

Seems you are the type of fan that thinks only scoring makes a difference in basketball games. "How can Jason Kidd be valuable, he doesnt even score as much as Marbury!"

As I look at your username, I can see why you are so desperate to promote the idea that star players need to be all about ppg padding.

Heat were supposed to win in both losses so NO REASON TO PANIC. Just like last year they will figure things out.

Two games, out of 600+. Lebron has "choked", and he's also been clutch.

I think we all get the impression that he gets overwhelmed, at times, in big moments. People make too much of a big deal about it, though. No one cares when Wade, or Kobe come short, because we've all decided that they're clutch, and when they aren't, we say it's aberration. Lebron has had the choker tag applied to him, so every time he comes short, people obsess over it, and talk about it the next day.

Heat fans don't say shit about refs making bad calls and non-calls to try to save their asses, basically handing them free throws on a platter, but then bitch and say that the refs gave the game to the Clippers. Sorry, I watched the game too, and the Heat played like ass. Rotten, stinking, festering ass. You can't have two of the best players in the game NOT make a single point in OT. You can't have your entire fvcking team outscored by Deandre, who can barely score at all.

The Heat will be in the finals and will likely win a ring at some point, but tonight they played like ASS.

Offensively, the main thing that Wade and LeBron rely on is getting the ball and slashing. When things get tight in the 4th, and that paint gets clogged up, they have to rely on their midrange - outside game which is simply not their forte.

Let's also not forget that these two players simply don't complement one another well. When one has the ball, the other is standing around, neither are great off the ball players. And for one of them to be effective they need the ball in their hand for most of the possession.

This 1.a , 1.b mentality where you have both players with equal responsibility and sharing everything just wont work for these two. Until one of them takes the leader role, and the other one makes an effort to become a player that complements the leader, these two just won't work together. They won't win.

Basically... one needs to take a Pippen role, and the other one needs to take a Jordan role.

I'm concerned about his jumper. He's shooting sub-40% from 16-23 feet after tonight's game, down from 45% last season. He made his living on 21 footers last year. He's way too dependent on easy layups/dunks in transition so far this year.

I grew up watching basketball and believing in statistics. Numbers never lie. 2 plus 2 is 4.

I have found out this year that numbers do lie.

Numbers no longer tell the truth. Numbers once told me how good of a player is. It no longer does that.

Exactly. It means nothing. And I also get that in a way I never did before this year-- the NBA more than any other sports league is set up in a way for its players to stat-whore.

Until he wins a ring, at this point in his career, everything that LeBron does is inconsequential until June.

Disagree. Melo and Amar'e can ISO better, especially Melo since his outside game is actually pretty good. And Amar'e has that solid jumper when he comes off a screen. Knicks are slowly getting better offensively, and Melo has become a much more willing passer this year. For them they don't need to get in the paint to be effective. They also have the ability to get in the paint if the opportunity is there and are great post players.

Wade and Bron however aren't the most versatile scorers, and what makes it worse is that both of their styles are so similar so if a team packs the paint, not only are they really hurting the Heats #1 option, but also their #2 option.

This was one of the main reasons why a lot of people said the Heat won't work. They do basically play the same way, both dominate the ball. Wade can facilitate offense without the ball to some degree, but not much, Lebron can't do it at all. The Heat won't be going anywhere anytime soon until one decides to be the passer.

There will always be criticism no matter what LeBron does. Criticism that doesn't apply to anyone else, will be applied to LeBron. We've seen it time and time again. You can literally reverse roles with Wade and LeBron will get the most blame on the team. Hell, as much as Kobe is criticized; if he pulled the same stuff LeBron was doing, the backlash wouldn't be near as much as it is now. If roles were reversed and it was Bron in Kobe's situation, you don't think there would be threads commenting on how his teammates "bailed" him out? How he statpadded to 40+ points? As untrue and as ridiculous as it may be?

Context and logic seems to be thrown out the window when it comes to this guy. I'm not quite sure why; but it likely won't go away until he wins a ring. Even so, he must win a ring under THEIR conditions. I'm not sure anyone has ever been held to a higher standard than LeBron.

This isn't to say he didn't play awful last night in the 4th quarter; but first, his problem was not attacking and being passive to which people said they at least want to see him attack and be aggressive. He does that, and nothing has changed. He deserves criticism for last night...that's for sure. But the problem is, he'll get it no matter what he does. He's been getting it his whole career and it's not going to change. The internet and media has escalated it to a whole new level though; a level I'm not so sure he'll be able to achieve consistently (not that ANYONE can for that matter).

There wouldn't be criticism had he delivered.

Of course there would be. There was already threads after game 1 saying Wade was going to be the Finals MVP and people insisting it would hurt LeBron's legacy if he didn't get it.

He got criticism for Spoelstra running a play for Wade in the Charlotte game after Wade played like garbage nearly the full game while LeBron remained dominant throughout.

He'll get it no matter what.

I was referring more to the past two nights. If he just played better in the 4th/OT and won the game there wouldn't be any reasonable criticism, but given his recent track record of disappearances and underwhelming performances in these situations, the criticism will just louder and louder.

Give me an example of what some of the excuse would have been if Lebron knocked down his shots last night. I am pretty sure it would be similar to what happened after the Heat-Celtics series and Heat-Bulls series from last season when everybody was slurping all over him. I really doubt you can think of one. You're probably just finding some way to justify your favorite player.

It would be "It's a regular season game; means nothing...he'll choke in the finals." It's the same thing that's been said after nearly all of his good games so far this season. Relegating them to nothing/statpadding/wait till he fails in the playoffs again.

There's nothing to justify; it's just a repetition of what's been consistently going on after his bad games by the usual crowd.

There is nothing to talk about with Kobe. He got the job done when it mattered most. We've seen it before with him it's standard procedure.
Yes there is, he's scoring a lot of points right now and doing good things on the court while people still troll in this thread instead.

Cant argue with the truth...

At this point he deserves all the comments. If he shows up in the playoffs/finals this year, different story.. But we've all seen how he plays when the pressure is on:lol :lol

Its great that he actually attempted some shots in the 4th/ot yesterday, but they were all bricks unfortunately...

And while all of this is happening. People have magically forgot how amazingly clutch Lebron was in the Boston and Chicago series last year. You never see people mentioning that. But why should they? It doesn't really fit their agenda.

I wonder why this was create after 2 losses and not after 2 wins, unlike the Laker thread. There couldn't possibly be an agenda with the moderators for stickying these threads. No, impossible.

These stickies aren't meant to favor lebron or kobe I dont think. its more like a cleanup thread. Last night there were countless omg kobe back to back 40 threads praising him, comparing him to other greats, discussing his age/mentality and others. And last night there were countless lebron threads predicting his demise, his future, and his team. Threads about his last travel, threads about his 4th quarter performance, threads about his hairline and his tweets.

I know the mods deleted many threads and merged many threads last night as well as today to keep the forums a little less "Inside kobe and lebron's hoops" forum.

To me the mods just cleaned up thats all. I mean shit, there has been an andre miller thread at the top of the forum all day. Couldn't have happened without the cleanup.

thats the way I see it anyway.

What I've noticed from these 2 games is that Lebron seems to play better if Wade is injured and unable to play. Can they coexist? He looks more aggressive without Wade and the Heat offense looks more flowing and less stagnant with him being the #1 option. It's just something I noticed from watching the 3 Heat games without wade and then watching Wade+Lebron together vs GSW/LAC . Lebron looks less dominating with Wade.

The Heat won't win anything with just Lebron and Bosh though.

It's called Karma for the way he treats people. Not the way he treats the microphone or kids at his camp or moments when he talks about his charity, it's the way he treats people. Ask the waitresses and everyday people in Akron who just happened to be in his way. Ask the security personnel at the Q when Sager got done with the interview. Ask legendary broadcaster Joe Tait how LBJ treated him. It's called Karma. No rings. Ever.

The Heat need to close out much more efficiently, and run better sets getting everyone involved. I just don't understand why LeBron isn't as efficient in the 4th as he is in the other quarters. Instead of closing out, the Heat let everyone in and in. :( If Wade and LeBron play well in the same game, Heat can't lose. Bosh has been consistent though, and I'm liking that.

They're playing a dangerous Denver team tomorrow, and let's see how the lat execution down the stretch is.

he can still drive, he just becomes a pu55y in the fourth quarter, that is all there is to it. He needs to man up, he is in his 9th season, there is no reason someone as good as him should pu55y out in the fourth. What's funny is he is so scared of failing that its causing him to fail even more.

if bron does not make an effort to improve his 4Q game, that's what he has to live with

Um, if anything this benefits LeBron. If it weren't for the sticky, there'd be countless threads all over the front page detailing Kobe's hot streak and LeBron's disappearance in the 4th. In fact, I'm pretty sure this was made after the front page was basically nothing but Kobe love/LeBron hate threads. So really you should thank the admins, it's much nicer this way.
