what he is saying doesnt matter much to me. and his mistakes on tv is just being a rookie like what they say all the time. hes just a great target for jokes from chuck and kenny and EJ. Shaq is also way more famous than each of those 3 guys so the jokes have a lot meaning to casual fans. that is why Shaq works on TNT

Kenny was no scrub. He was no Allstar, but he played his part for the team.
1991: 17.7 Points Per Game 7.1 Assists 3 turnovers
1992: 14 Points Per Game 6.9 Assists 2.8 turnovers
1993: 13 Points Per Game 5.4 Assists 2 turnovers

That's not bad at all, and no where near scrub level. Couldn't find 94 and 95, but I'm sure it was similar.

Still a low blow though. Everyone knows Kenny is not on the same level as the others, but as far as their jobs NOW, his commentary skills shits on everyone there, so he deserves to be here (which Shaq often implies he doesn't). It was one of those comments that just shouldn't have been said, and even Chuck cringed. Like kicking a wounded dog.

Smh

They crack on each other far worse on Inside The NBA.

I swear people on here act like the stuff they saw on that show hurts peoples feelings, Inside The NBA = Barbershop Talk. People are going to say how they feel and crack on each other, but its not like they're going to catch feelings about it.

Shaq said Hakeem won with scrubs and mentioned Kenny.

Kenny will get him back later by talking about how they swept the Magic the following year and made him run away to LA.

It was one of those jokes that you intend to hurt someone with, which is why some don't find it funny. A lot of shaq's jokes have been like that. The problem is that SHAQ needs thicker skin. Kenny and Chuck can laugh at themselves, and usually brush it off. But Shaq has not let those comments from Chuck earlier go, and is trying to dish it back out to Kenny and Chuck, Kenny was just the easier target.

@Rowe, if this was the first time, I'd just brush it off too. But ever since Open Court, I've noticed the awkward tension between Shaq and Kenny/Chuck. And it just gets worst and worst.

Kenny def shits on Shaq as an Inside the NBA personality. I would say analysts,, but they are much more than that. Shaq looks like a big fat pile of shit there. He is funny when interacting with other players... like at the All Star Game, or when he was a player.

Kenny can get on my nerves with his "im NY slick" shit,, I love when Reggie, Webber, Payton, Shaq, and especially Barkely have ripped on him and are basically like shut up dude,,,

atleast there will always still be Barkley,, if they ever change the focus away from him,, ughh... i hope they dont. especially not for shaq.

Do you remember how many times Shaq would refer to Kenny as "the other guy" on Inside The NBA whenever he got interviewed?

If Shaq wasn't cool with Kenny or knew him, he wouldn't clown him the way he does. He'd treat him like a random reporter asking him a question like he does with the people on ESPN.

No feelings hurt, its just more facepalm "Really Shaq?" moments. I just honestly think it was better without him.

That's the thing though, when all the other ones crack on Kenny, it DOES feel like the barbershop talk jabs, they laugh at it, and that's it. Perfect example was when they "retired" Kenny's jersey on the dirty laundry rack. Chuck and EJ was clowning him, but it was all in good fun.

Don't know how to explain it, but Chuck and Kenny have looked more visually uncomfortable this season, usually when Shaq says something.

Dude, their ratings haven't been any higher because people like you who are complaining about Shaq being on there either on Message Boards or Twitter are tuning in to watch it.

Shaq = Ratings

Whether you love him or hate him being on the show, the TNT people realized he was going to be such a polarizing personality that it would have people talking about the show even more. They knew what he was going to provide as a side show, but over time people will just get used to him being there.

Its the best NBA show on TV by far considering how terrible ESPN's show is.

Shaq joined TNT due to his relationship with Chuck & to an extent Kenny.

He could've easily gone to ESPN for more money and ended up on the "Fake" Inside The NBA with Steven A Smith, Jalen Rose, & some random White guy to host it. But I dont think he knows any of them well and the chemistry would be off.

That show on NBATV was the first time they had them all together and Chuck started clowning Shaq about Kazam.:oldlol:

If they werent cool with each other they would be intimidated to step on each others toes the way they do. Look at how Chris Webber was on Inside The NBA last year. He never cracked 1 joke on Chuck, Kenny, or even Ernie and neither of them said 1 thing about him.

Webber only cracked jokes when he was there with Gary Payton because they obviously are cool with each other. They had chemistry like that.

shaq could be the worst analyst/commentator i've ever seen or heard. the monotone voice is so bad that its hard to even pay attention to, then the HORRIBLE analysis regularly from him, and when they argue Shaq's points rarely make much sense. Kenny/Charles/Ernie all know how awful he is too but they cover for him it seems or just overlook it and move on with whatever they're talking about.

Shaq's even worse than Magic was with his talk show, and i used to think nobody could be worse than that. There is no way they can keep him. I'd love to see them bringing in comedians that follow NBA into the studio like Chris Rock or somebody, i think it would be hilarious teaming them up with kenny/charles

You have to give a guy like Shaq time to grow into the role. Let him go on NBATV until he is ready or something. He is terrible. They did the same thing with Webber and when he finally got better they let him go.

Dwight's not one of the Elite Big Men in NBA History who can be a #1 Option.

Incorrect man. Kenny Smith was a very good player. He even finished level with Hakeem in MVP voting his first year in Houston. He wasn't a great player, but like he said last night he (and the rest of those guys) were great basketball players. Otis Thorpe has been an all-star, a great defender and a great rebounder, good shot blocker, good scorer, can even cover Hakeem at C and cover centers. Robert Horry was damn good back then and just a good when having to play the 4. Vernon Maxwell was crazy but he could play. They had a good bench, solid players. The quality around Dwight on the Magic is not as high. Besides, Hakeem doing it (and he did it with a still great Clyde the next year) is not a slight on Dwight. Someone is gonna be better than someone else and that's all that says.

Besides, the NBA is getting to the point where you have some great players, but you don't necessarily have great supporting quality around. People are saying that Kobe, Pau, and Bynum isn't enough. That's both stupid and indicative of other things.

Do you guys know how much of a character Shaq is? How much of a personable person he is? Shaq was the center of attention when he was playing and was loved by many. Do you realize how much attention he brings to TNT and the how much his popularity will draw to TNT now that he's on?

TNT has higher priorities than to appease a bunch of nerds who sit on their computers and post on the forums all day. I'm willing to bet about 95% of you guys don't even play basketball. To the laymen fans who watch basketball casually or even religious, they don't really care. You nerds on ISH love to nit-pick at everything.

Also, I guarantee if it was Kenny and Shaq and Charles came later (in Shaq's position right now), you guys would be saying the same thing.

If you don't like it, stop watching it. Stop thinking you know everything and what's best for the show.

i'd be surprised if 95% of people who even half pay attention to pregame, halftime, and postgame TnT In the Studio didn't feel the same way. you're clueless and delusional if you think Charles could ever be as horrible as Shaq is as a analyst or tv personality. Shaq was never funny or entertaining, only to little kids...

i swear tho there are some people out there who just don't get things or see the obvious. it always surprises me.

Why U so Mad homeboy??...

Shaq is a Idiot...."Dream didn't have any good teamates".."aint that right Kenny"

Kenny should have said "Yup...and he still mopped the floor with your f@tAZZ in the Finals"

If Shaq was 6' instead of 7' he would be wearing a orange vest picking up trash on the side of the freeway..

hope they get rid of him soon....much better without him.

and PS: I've played hoop all over the world for over 15 years......

Shaq is still a fat Bully.

shaq is DUMB, has poor elocution, badly raised, educated, he s ignorant, period. Kenny and chuck are just in another league. Shaq is a bum taken off the streets one day and given a job on tv the next day.

Shaq has no valid points to add to the conversations or the games. He just makes faces and noises. It's bad. I prefer the guys on NBA Tv, they actually talk about the games and basketball. They don't have to make dumb jokes and fools of themselves.

Shaq may be dumb and have poor eluction, but I don't think he was raised poorly nor is he ignorant. Having said that, I don't think he's a good analyst or commentator and his ego gets in the way.
