I like American Me better. It just feels more genuine and authentic to me. The beginning is pretty amazing, the story with the gangster friends. That white dude that speaks like a beaner hood is an excellent addition

the scene when they shank him and throw him off the third floor in jail in American Me is hilarious. I remember paul rudd is randomly watching this scene in role models. cracks me up everytime

Blood in Blood Out is a more entertaining movie overall though

Both are excellent movies, but "Blood In, Blood Out" is definitely one of my favorite movies of all-time. I can't say it does anything better than "American Me." It's just better to me, and I don't even have a real reason why.

Well, American Me got married to Canada You. As for Blood In, Blood Out..? Shit... He moved to Beverly Hills and let the money change him.

That's what happened to these movies.

:facepalm

Yea I guess I related to the cultural aspect as well. I'm half Mexican but most of my family lives in San Antonio so that authentic passionate cholo vibe I am a tad familiar with by spending a lot of time in SA.

I read that the Mexican Mafia was not happy with how they were potrayed in American Me, they even put a contract out on Olmo's life for the scene where they rape the guy with the knife, also, a few of the people who worked on the movie were murdered. Crazy.

The scene between Miklo and Big Red was hilarious. Blood In, Blood Out was great. I haven't seen American Me though.
