Kobe fans proving once again how great their math skills are. That's why they think 46 fg% is efficient.

I read that he doesn't actually have an 8 foot wingspan, rather more accurately a 7 foot 4 wingspan. Either way them post moves... One of the greatest in the low block of all time.

Would LOVE to see Russell (http://youtu.be/wdtgUOiWHJg?t=45s) guard him, he'd probably bite on his fakes the least out of anyone who defended him. But no doubt McHale would get his. "You get 25 fakes you gotta go for one of them" :lol

Does anyone from the 60's/70's remind you of him offensively in the post? Curious to know who if anyone influenced his game the most

When it comes strictly to skills, he's the best ever in the post. Just that he wasn't as athletic as others (not that he was non-athletic or even close to it), mainly Hakeem on this case (amazing skills, great athlete) because that would make me put Olajuwon 1st in overall post-game with McHale at 2nd, at their best.

Shame that he had a short prime and peak, due to injury.

Didn't Bird come back a week later or something like that and score 60 just so that he could have the Celtic scoring record?

McHale did it against Detroit on March 3rd. Bird said, "You should've went for 60."

They play 3 games, then on March 12th they played Atlanta and Bird dropped 60.

They kept giving Kevin the ball, especially Bird, so that he could score in bunches because he was on a crazy hot-streak. Bird then went on record saying McHale should've went for 60, the way he was playing, because that's extremely hard to get.
Then like 4 games later on, Bird was on crazy hot-streak of his own, shooting from everywhere making everything and they kept giving him the ball so that he could break the record, McHale included.

Love that the last three of McHale's buckets came off of Bird assists.

Another back story to this game is that Bird took great pleasure in working the ball into McHale whenever he was guarded by Kent Benson - payback for the way Benson treated him during his brief stint at IU.
