He's a great player to watch, but it REALLY bugs me when he acts like an entitled diva.

I loved it when Blake got dunked on and then stared down by Chandler Parsons.

Please don't forget that he's a 22-year-old kid in his second NBA season. A lot of maturing can be done to a game and a personality in not even a few years.

It's weird, but seeing that live, it actually looked like someone fvcked his shit up. Of course there was no replay on the jumbotron, but it looked bad and the "thud" sounded worse. It was only when I got home and saw what actually happened...:facepalm

Someone needs to do a gif where someone tosses a grenade to him or something.

People will are mad about the Clippers and Blake Griffin this year which is great for me to see. People are grasping left and right for anything they can to shred Blake and the team. The humorous thing is this isn't a flop at all. Griffin got off balance and fell HARD. No reason he would fake a flop that hard and risk injury.

The Clippers have flopped themselves right to a 9-5 record and the 3rd seed in the west so far. U MAD?

You act like flopping has any connection with winning. Just because you win doesn't mean your team doesn't flop. And just because you flop doesn't mean your team doesn't win.

I can confidently say the Clippers are NOT one of the worst flopping teams in the NBA. So I find it ridiculous that every couple days we see "Clippers are flopcity" etc and stupid threads like this. I don't see these threads about the Heat who are quite possibly the biggest culprits.

Other teams like Houston etc have known floppers as well as the Lakers. People need to just chill and respect teams for their success and talent etc. It's petty to make a shi*load of threads to cry about a team or player flopping.

I doubt that was your mindset when the board gave Manu grief for his flopping. Since he's cut down drastically in the last couple of seasons, not so much, but when he was in his flopping prime, this board was so anti-Manu.

Did you read this? BRILLIANT article that is 100 percent true. It was on ESPN yesterday. It's about how in this second season everybody has basically turned on Blake and now the things they loved about him last year... they hate now.

It happens with all star players though. People take them for granted and find every excuse to rip them apart. This is why I try not to do this with players anymore. I remember watching rookie Kobe.... and now he's at the tail end of his career and will be gone. Duncan and KG also on the way out. Shaq retired last year. We spend so much time picking apart amazing players that we take our time watching them for granted.

Blake Griffin will be retiring and we will all wish we appreciated him more. Same goes for all the other young stars like Durant and Rose etc.

You may see threads about REALLY bad flops like the Boozer/Bosh incident but I'm 100 percent sure people have never started 3-4 threads a week about how much one team flops or one player flops. At least not since I've been viewing this forum. What's worse is.... there is no reason for anybody to hate or dislike the Clippers.

Okay maybe you feel the media hypes them too much. Maybe you feel they aren't ready to contend yet. So what though? That's not the players fault. They are downplaying all the hype every chance they get.

I always told myself as a Clippers fan that if they can overcome and become that "Cinderalla" type of rags to riches story.... america would embrace and love them. It's just sad to see how many haters though are ready to rip the team and it's players apart despite such a likable group of guys.

He just put his leg in the air for no good reason or maybe Kevin Love is stronger than Wilt Chamberlain.

Seems unlikely he'd lose balance on a play like that if there wasn't a foul..

The backlash started after the all-star break, when pretty much the whole night revolved around Blake. I guess for a lot of people, it's OK to like the guy if the team's still losing and not a playoff threat. Also, this forum is pretty Laker-centric, and as much as they try to deny it, the media-hyped rivalry is working and getting Laker fans riled up. Add to that the sting of the Lakers not only being denied Chris Paul, but him winding up on the Clippers. Plus I'm sure a lot of people are just sick of the hype, even if the hype is completely justified.

If your team gets good, you get haters. Even if they win a championship people will try to knock them down a peg based on their previous losing seasons.

Now, saying all that, it did look like a flop. My favorite players flop as well, and it's embarrassing when it happens, but I understand why they do it. I'm OK with that.

Still not as bad as Baron Davis on Okur.

Griffin better hope his athleticism stays with him for a long time. once it is gone, he will be toast. And before everyone says the 22 argument... he played two years in college, watched a year in the pros, and has a year under his belt. He is about as polished as can be RIGHT NOW.

I remember watching that the other day. I was thinking "What the heck is Blake trying to do spark a rivalry between Minnesota and the Clippers?" K-Love does not play dirty. Now if this was a Dennis Rodman, then I would have expected some dirtyness but K-Love? C'mon now. Blake is lucky that he did not not injury himself on that play.

How stupid are you? Did you even watch the video? It was a flop and a bad flop at that. He flopped so hard that he threw himself off balance and landed hard.

People don't hate blake griffin. They hate flopping. They hate that he has seemingly added flopping to his main game. They hate that someone as young and talented as blake is becoming as big a flopper to be said in the same sentences as the old veterans known for flopping (ginobili, fisher, floppy divac).

You say people post videos of him every game criticizing him. Guess what, thats what happens when you become a superstar. Thats what happens when people start watching your team. I know you diehard clippers fans aren't use to that, but get used to it.

Just man up, say ya he flopped bad, and move on. You know you don't even like that shit either, nobody does.

Nah, but really, this is an interesting thing I have noticed.

I think Clipperfan is cool because he was always the type of guy you felt was rational and friendly. But, a weird thing happened, when the Clippers got good, he started turning into the kind of fan that we all hate. Like a Laker fan or a Heat fan.

That reminds me of plowking. That dude was cool. I remember talking to him the year that the Heat got Bosh and LeBron, and I was like you HATE Lebron! You're not still gonna be a Heat fan are you? And he's like well yeah.

It's just weird. People are, I guess, pushed into being friendly and logical when their team is bad, but once their team gets good they change.

The art of flopping has gone downhill....When Vlade and Manu did it they really got hit by the opposition albeit, of course not hard enough as they made it out to be.

Today players flop even without contact....Heck even huge very athletic players who have no business flopping are joining in on the act. A disgrace to the art indeed. :violin:

Alright, I know this is an uphill battle, but I didn't find that particular play to be a flop. That's not to say I believe it's a foul on Kevin Love either though. I've just personally had the same exact thing happen to me before. I don't know why the leg comes up on a rebound sometimes, but it does. Maybe it was the result of leaning a little deeply into Love before elevating. Either way, on certain occasions, when one leg overly extends, the opposite limb will slip right out from underneath and create an unavoidably rough fall.

Looking again, if I had to guess, the leg swing has to do with Griffin's leaning takeoff, where he's grappling one way and jumping the other. His body weight was moving slightly backward, i.e. he was slightly unbalanced. Nine of ten times, it's a clear board and we head the other way. In this case, it was a tough fall and the fact there was any contact at all tends to bring about a whistle.

Let it be clear that I'm referring to only this play though, and not all the others.

I love when that leg kick happens. It usually happens to me during an intense game. It's just a reflex, the body trying to balance itself.

Dennis Rodman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-Qm-Inl9Kk

On the 3rd kick clip, imagine that jump without that kick, he would have been totally out of balance.

Even the kick that Blake did happened after he started to fall back. The body trying to balance itself by putting weight on the opposite side. Just wasn't enough.

I don't think it was a flop.

Players flop, it's part of the game. I personally don't like it. In fact I hate it but it happens. Many if not most players has flopped at one time or another. Griffin is beastin' and its not a secret that haters are gonna hate. It's not like he's getting 21 and 12 because he flops once or twice a game.

It's funny too because some of you posters calling him out are Laker fans and Fisher's flopping has gotten that team hella calls. Even your almighty Kobe flops with his flailing arms when all a defender is doing is playing good defense.

With that said...dude needs to chill on the flopping.

He's in his second god damn year and he's already one of the biggest floppers in the league. That's a joke, especially from one of the most talented players in the league. You can almost accept it from someone like Tyler Hansbrough because he sucks balls and his greatest talent is running around crashing into people like a jackass, but from Griffin it pisses you off. Instead of becoming a world class flopper and putting on his fake tough guy act he should learn how to guard his man and expand his offensive repertoire.

Blake needs to stop flopping. I really want to continue liking him, but I'm afraid he will eventually be LeBron V.2. (meaning talented and fun to watch, but ultimately developing to become a huge douche).

It's been mentioned, but flopping thast hard isn't worth the foul. He could have snapped his collar bone or bruised a lung or something and missed some serious time.

Also it's a weasel move.

Pretty much. Slips in a nice compliment to opposing team here and there, hoping that when he begins to go all homer on everybody they'll forgive him. He also knows that when Griffin gets owned in a game to hold out on his homerism until the next game. Pretty typical Clipfan86 posts:

"Should be a fun game"

"Griffin = beast"

A homer is a misguided fanatic that can't discuss the pros and cons of their teams objectively. I'm no such person.... but you already knew that.

As a Clipper fan I will admit that Blake needs to stop flopping like a punk. It is the most annoying thing in watching a guy like Blake flop on almost every play. He is way too athletic for that, he needs to practice on his freethrows, post game and mid range shot.
He has perfected the flop and frankly its embarrassing.

Chauncey flopping is annoying as well, but thats part of his contract.

To be fair, by the time Blake turned around, it was definitely time for Chandler to get back on defense.

Also, the super-slanted assumption by many here that Blake's fall by Love was a flop really has me going back and re-watching this video way more times than necessary. I mean, I suppose the the tear-away of his right arm from Love was over-exaggerated, but there's still no way I see his fall as intentional. When one of your legs comes up that high, with the opposite leg unbalanced, that's what one of those falls will look like. It's like any "kick fail" you might have seen. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkoEgzim3vk&feature=related

or this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGD0WTEb4Bs

I like Blake Griffin but I fully acknowledge he's had some dynamite flops this year. I just don't happen to think this was one of them. That's not to say it was a foul on Love, I just don't think Griffin purposely removed his sense of balance and legs from beneath himself.

See, this is how it should be. Good shit.

Nobody likes flopping. Even if it is your favorite player doing it. Kobe used to do that durant rip through thing a lot in the '10 season and it annoyed me a lot. I always hoped the refs wouldn't call it for him. Just like all the yelling 'HEY' he does after all his drives even if he wan't hit. Its just annoying.

It's a real quote. They were irritated because I was getting more green instead of getting red. It was a fun time.

The reason it didn't work is because most of the Lakers trolls, who were the ones negging you, probably have bad rep themselves. You can't neg if you're in the red. Good to see rep has no effect in the way you voice your basketball opinions though. That's the way it should be.

My point of view on flopping. I hate it. But don't blame the player, blame the game.

Players flop because the refs and the league entertains it. It gets them the possession to win the game.
