Of course, James has never indicated as much, and if he does feel that way, he is wise enough to not say a word. Anyone who saw the secretive manner in which he kept the Cavs guessing already knows that.

Bad article source, even if there is a slight bit of truth to what they think lebron thinks, too early to be speculating anyway.
LeBron will spend the rest of his prime years in Miami. Period. He will be there for 7-8 years...

You not wanting him doesn't mean any team wouldn't bend over backwards to bring the best player in the game to their home floor 42 times a year.

I guess you foresee him getting injured in his future team's first playoff game. Here's hoping it's Phoenix, so their medical staff can bring him back healthy right before the finals, and then he can stink it up once again.:lol
Joking aside, I think people will be over him by then (meaning they are not gonna empty their rosters to create space like they did in 2010), especially if he hasn't won a ring. And if he has, why would he leave? For more attention?

This James back to Cleveland sh!t needs to stop. Maybe he is unhappy in Miami, who knows. If there is one absolute certainty that is locked in a vault and covered in concrete, never to be opened again even for discussion amongst those of us in the city and not some dipsh!t national sports talking head that knows nothing about the place...
James will never step foot back in Cleveland in a Cavaliers' jersey... Whether it be as a player or as a retired player receiving some kind of bullsh!t ceremony or ever for anything.
I would rather the Cavs suffer 20 years of being the worst team in the league every season than to ever see that guy playing back here for this team. I am deadly serious about that, too. And, I know the vast, vast majority of the city/state feels the same way.
I'm sure he will play for some other team at some point in his career and that is fine. His days in Cleveland are over forever, though. Trust in that.

I would probably root for Lebron again once he leaves Miami. I would definitely root for him if he returns to Cleveland but I really doubt that is ever going to happen. There isn't a doubt in my mind that Lebron will NOT retire as a Miami Heat though and you can bank on that. I'll probably start rooting for him again once he does leave but until then he can go eat a dick.

This does not make any sense.Lebron could have been far more legendary if he stayed in Cleveland.Even if he never won anything, staying his whole career in his home state/team and playing for his biggest supporters should have meant more to him.

As long as he wears his old jersey number, but LeBron is gonna stay in Miami because they are still an elite team in 2014.
They burned his jersey because they loved him and felt betrayed. That should tell you something, in Miami they could care less.If you love someone then you have passion, Miami is the exact opposite.
I really hope Lebron realizes what he did and returns, tell his state he is sorry and begs them for forgivness.
it is the oldest story in the Bible, for then the prodigal son will return and get redemption. It would be the greatest story in Sports.
No one will care if he wins in Miami.

No NBA Greats could have won an NBA title with that 2008-2010 Cavaliers team. Just look at the current Miami Heat this season. They are playing good basketball without the Dwayne Wade, and the trio of LeBron, healthy Wade, and Bosh are gonna be a more dangerous team in the playoffs. How's Mike Brown doing in Los Angeles? You gonna dislike this guy in the playoffs. He couldn't make some adjustments against the Magic and Celtics in the playoffs.

Its ok to exercise free agency. Just not back-stab his team by not telling em till they find out on national TV what his decsion is. He was a hero there and did that. Its the most villian and egoistic move I've ever seen.

Tell that to Dan Gilbert, and those people who burned his jersey number.
People always uses the ring argument in this forum. Some of players were very lucky because they were drafted or traded their draft rights to the Celtics and Lakers.
Once LeBron wins an NBA Finals MVP and his 3rd MVP this season he's gonna be rank higher on the all time lists above Moses Malone and Oscar Robertson.

First part: You're right... He isn't "Ohio's son" or ever remotely close. He always had one foot out of the door and that is fine.
Second part: So wrong it isn't worth responding to. I never wanted to really dislike him. He forced my hand. I always knew there was a chance he would leave. That was a total fiasco and just completely unnecessary.
You don't think we've had great athletes leave our beloved professional sports teams before? Hell, back-to-back Cy Young Award winners (Sabathia and Lee) were both brought up through the Indians' system and made their bones on this team for this franchise. They left and it sucked, but I hold no ill feelings toward them for it.
Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome... Primes of their careers... Gone. They did what they had to do.
A lot of really great athletes have left. This was different on so many levels that I refuse to believe you don't get it.

Cleveland was never really in the equation, which makes the whole thing that much more infuriating.
Did you read Windhorst's article about how James attempted to recruit more players to Miami in his first two weeks on the team than he did in seven years in Cleveland? That tells me a lot.
But, again... Even if he planned on leaving all along (which he did), it didn't need to be done the way he did it. He went out of his way to stick the dagger in and twist it... Tried to make it as painful as possible.
Say what you will about this city and it has a lot of flaws, no doubt. But it also has a tremendous amount of pride. Which is why doing what he did the way he did it resonated so deeply. He made it so the whole city got on its hands and knees and begged and then he kicked dirt in its eye. There was no reason for it. No one will ever be able to convince me otherwise.
The way he conducted it didn't feel like 'business'... It felt personal, which is why the reaction was/is what it was/is.

Yeah that team wasn't bad AT ALL. Everyone contributed despite not being big names, you dont win the regular season twice in a row with 1 player and scrubs. Mo, Varejao, Z, Jamison were swishing left and right. They were contenders and perhaps favorites for most ppl. Yeah Mike Brown isn't the brightest potato in the box but he did a great D job and they were young enough to make teams pay on fast breaks.
Hell 1 ring in Cleveland would have meant so much more than 1 in Miami. Not to mention how much worse is to fail in miami than to fail in cleveland, lebron failed to see that and the pressure is now even bigger than in cleveland.

True but sometimes it's not about talent, it's just about ducking your head and busting through the wall.
You can have all the talent in the universe and still never amount to anything, there has to be more.

You guys always use this 5 rings >>> that rings argument. LeBron probably read some posts in this forum. In his mind he really needs to win an NBA Championship.
How could I win an NBA title with my former franchise? That's the questions inside LeBron's mind.
No NBA Superstars wants to sign or play in Cleveland. Bosh, Amare, and Boozer wanted to play on a big market teams.
He'll probably would have demanded a trade like CP3 and Carmelo if he had stayed in Cleveland.

How he left only changes the margin by which hes the most hated athlete in Ohio. he would be hated either way. Jerseys burn either way(they get burned over lesser issues). Same people would have been crying. Same angry grandmas.
When you are the kind of person who lets another mans sports decision impact you enough to be caught literally crying over it you are gonna get emotional no matter how its presented.
That level of softness is just...in you. Lebron James cant create it.
Ive not cried over sports since like 1986. And I watched grown men weep like my little sister when Mufassa died. That was one of the oddest nights of my life sports wise. I try to tell myself not to just consider all of Cleveland the people acting a fool on tv but really...it reflected poorly on the city.
Really poorly. Wasnt a good look at all.

A. If you allow a handful of people burning jerseys on television to influence the way you look at an entire region, that is on you, not the region.
B. I saw video of, like, two people crying and both were clearly drunken women. Again, see 'A.'
C. If you think the way in which he left would have only changed the reaction 'marginally,' then you know nothing about this region of the country. Bill Simmons called it, "the single meanest thing that any athlete has ever done to a city." The whole thing took James from being one of the most beloved athletes in the country to one of the very most disliked.

No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

How he left is universally considered the real BIG issue. How could this only change the "margin" by which he is hated?

Not to the extent of literally thinking people from ohio are soft. Im just saying it looked quite bad.
B. I saw video of, like, two people crying and both were clearly drunk women. Again, see 'A.'
Im 100% sure I saw crying men in a bar. I had it on DVR and watched it with a friend of mine for laughs. And the 2 Ohio people ive talked to about it since told me it actually was worse than it looked on tv. Though one wasnt a basketball fan and the other was a woman who barely liked basketball so perhaps their surprise at the outrage was a lack of understanding.

I remember you told me that one and said he was almost universally disliked and you gave me some poll that showed he went from like 42% approval to the 30s and like...16% not liking him to 24 or something. Something minor like that. Trying to refute my claim that people for the most part dont hate lebron.
Not that its terribly related. just brought back the memory.

He belongs in Miami. It is a much more fitting place for him on a myriad of levels. Upon reflection, that was the absolute perfect move for a guy like him.
Care to explain how and why?
The article is kinda stupid. This was posted yesterday.
LeBron loves playing in Miami. They are currently 12-5. They still won some games without their Co-Best player.
He is going to the Lakers or to another team, you don't mind right? And Lebron would probably stick with #6 because he said in his last season with the Cavs ('09-'10) that that would be the last time he would wear #23 because he felt like nobody else should wear it because MJ wore it and he is the GOAT.

kblaze,
Not that I wouldn't like to get into a point-by-point discussion with you on this topic (although we've gone round-and-round on this issue), but I have to get up for work in the morning. I was pushing it by posting until 1 a.m. Now, I'm looking at 1:25 a.m. and working early with an hour commute.
I think it is safe to say that we will never agree on these issues, but I don't think it is refutable that James went from being revered to disliked in 30 minutes. You are saying it is just the Internet... Guy was booed in every arena last season. I repeat, the Heat weren't booed... he was clearly targeted.
And, you could just say that this 'was a result of him being the best player in the league.' He was the best player while in Cleveland and never booed outside of Washington. In fact, he was quite often cheered in opposing arenas... By opposing fans (happened a lot, in fact).
If you don't recognize his being universally disliked by sports fans, then there is no point in debating this in the first place.
But, again... Sleep calls. Work in the morning. See you on the flip.

Kris humphries is booed in several arenas. I myself would boo Lebron tomorrow. why wouldnt I? Its just fun. Booing is not hate. Its not even dislike. half the people booing are smiling and laughing about it. Its just a good time.
If 10 people boo others will join in. Lets not act like it means you hate a guy. cleveland does I assume. most arenas dont care. Ive seen him booed in Atlanta and sat in club onyx watching the Heat play with people cheering him. same people would be booing if thousands others were when they were down the street in the arena.
I would. Its not that serious.

No it's a quote from John Donne explaining how we all are rely on each other "No man is a island" and yes having feelings is real life.
We all relied on Lebron , does it make us less of a man? I don't think so.He was a Ohio and that's something Ohio also relys on and makes it a great place. and Lebron will always be.
But you acting to above someone for relying on someone else just sounds like you are trying way to hard.

Yes, there are some goofy boos and some that are not. As well as cheers (see white mamba). But I think lebrons boos around the country last season were not the goofy kind, not in the same tier as the ones he recieved in CLE or Fisher in UTA but definitely not goofy.

I wouldnt call it goofy. And I wouldnt call it "Dog lover see Vick on the jumbotron" either. Nor is it Kobe in Denver in 04 booing. Its general sports booing amped up by it being ap layer you are expected to boo heavily. but even that died down a lot. Plenty of places Lebron didnt seem to be booed much at all. Even in cleveland he wasnt booed like Vince carters first game back in Toronto. The whole thing is overblown really from a booing standpoint.
I expected the Cavs crowd to run wild. By the second quarter it was halfhearted "Oh hes got the ball? Let me boo right quick..." boos.
Toronto went hard on Vince.

I would call it " never before in Sports History have fans ever had to deal with this much mixed emotion"...
It was not Vick or Vince....
It was like trying to watch a brother or child and understand why they would do what he did....
It was sad, frustration , anger and love all in one
Maybe it was hard for some people to focus all emotion in one area.

But Vince wasn't booed around the country, just in his former city, perhaps kobe a bit more universally because of how serious "raping" is (raping charge for that matter). But if we talk only about the fact of leaving a team, there is no other athelete more "hated" than lebron for that sole fact.

Of course there isnt. But Lebron isnt that hated either. It just seems like it on places like this. I dont know a single person who seems to hate Lebron and as ive said before...among my circle of friends...im the closest thing to a lebron hater. Im the one who gets "My boy went off!" texts when he plays well. As if it hurts my feelings.
Think about this if you dont mind...
When you hear people talk about Lebron in person. What is the vibe? some mocking. Some jokes.
On here...we have a guy(who far as I know is not actually a cavs fan...hes in another topic saying hes Alpha wolfs alternate name while hesb anned) posting poems talking about love and hate.
Its just a different vibe online. I dont know if people just get mad when they express their feelings with keys or what. But I want to know where these outraged people are in the real world. They are either totally avoiding the places ive been and discussed sports lately(texas, South carolina, georgia, and north carolina) or we just run in very different social groups.
Ive yet to hear a more than half serious word of Lebron hate...verbally. Or really even Kobe hate.
Lot of the hate lives on the internet expressed by people im sure just want to get a rise out of others.
Its not that serious....at all.

James will never step foot back in Cleveland in a Cavaliers' jersey... Whether it be as a player or as a retired player receiving some kind of bullsh!t ceremony or ever for anything.
as long as dan gilbert is the owner, yeah he probably wont.
I would rather the Cavs suffer 20 years of being the worst team in the league every season than to ever see that guy playing back here for this team. I am deadly serious about that, too. And, I know the vast, vast majority of the city/state feels the same way.
id take him back. in a heartbeat.
this year's team is fun. a lot of nice, likeable guys. everybody seems to get along, and theres no drama, and all thats cool, but id rather have a more talented team, with all the BS that comes with a guy like lebron.
Tried to make it as painful as possible. .
in the weeks leading up to the decision, reports came out every few days. 'lebron is leaning towards chicago', 'lebron is leaning towards NY', 'lebron is leaning to miami', whatever. it changed every few days. at the time, i lived and died by each of these reports. eventually, (ironically, around the time the miami reports surfaced) i stopped believing any of them. i realised that anything leaked, was leaked for a reason.
lebron was just stoking interest, getting people to pay attention, to generate more viewers for 'The Decision', and ultimately to make himself into a bigger star.
my point is, you cant believe any all of the things that came out.
the people releasing them have an agenda, and that agenda isnt to inform (accept in the case of the last report, the miami one, that was to soften the blow,, imo). that agenda is to generate interest. so you have to be skeptical, and you can just believe all the BS that came out.
thats not to refute your claims, or to decisively prove them wrong, just to say, you have no meaningful sources to make those claims.
The way he conducted it didn't feel like 'business'... It felt personal, which is why the reaction was/is what it was/is.
lebron was in the business of self-promotion.
he wanted to make a spectical, and he did. it was all just business, well some ego too, but lebron was out to make himself into a bigger star. maybe it seemed personal, but he was just trying to generate more interest. im sure of that.

He will be 30 by mid season, and his athleticism would have sharply declined.
Kobe is a student of the game, and his continued dominance and longevity are testament to that.
You're crazy if you think LeBron has added enough to his game to keep this production up in his 30s.

Here is some advice, take what LeBron says is a grain of salt. LeBron has said tons of shit that is dumb, lying, bogus, etc.
LeBron will probably be leave in 2014 if he doesn't win a ring in Miami by then. It wouldn't even surprise me if LeBron ends up signing with the Lakers or something, I would expect Kobe to be retired by then and maybe there would be enough cap space/room for him.
LeBron is about as loyal as Shaq and he left two great cities (Orlando and LA). I don't see why LeBron wouldn't leave Miami especially when Miami is an overrated city and he doesn't like the way Pat Riley runs things around that organization.

Lebron is such a diva bitch. This is why i can't stand him, but i guess if you're that good and know it, you can act like he does....just trips me out how he expects to be catered to with completely different rules than other players by the organizations he plays for.
I mean what he said is as much a guilt tripping threat to the Heat to cater to him by his own rules or he might be gone :facepalm
