Having him speak about success to really successful people is the entire point of these commercials.

Wear J's and you can fly like Mike.... Shox will make you jump like Vince.... you can be as quick as Rose if you wear his shoes.... Kobe's shoes bring success...Seriously, it may be a little subtle in it's humor but even if it's not that funny, it really shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

I bet if this commercial played in Japan with subtitles, anyone up to date in pop culture would even understand the commercial.
