I love these sort of threads/opinions. People only use extremes (e.g. the complete douche bags in the OP) or pop culture to make a statement, if you actually went outside, you'd notice that the average person dresses completely normal.

In pop culture men have been dressing like women for atleast 40-50 years now. It's now new.

The photo of the Japanese guys are called Host. Their job is to host women in clubs to make them have a good time and spend money on drinks.

Most Japanese men (older) are ashamed of those dudes. The dudes out there spend more money on how they look than women.:facepalm

On a side note Host in Japan make tons of cash. Yes there are some foreigner host but they mostly work independently and speak fluent Japanese.

I found clowns entertaining when I was 12. My idea of an entertainer is a musician, comic, athlete etc. None of those things require dressing like an idiot. If you enjoy looking at clowns wearing shiny things and being overly animated then that's you. We clearly have a different definition of entertainment.

lol I figured someone would say this. Ya, she's a little different, but she's still wearing jeans, a normal shirt and a leather jacket. The two dudes look pretty normal as well. I can't speak for all metal (death, black, etc.), but much of the sub-genres are home to artists who look like normal people. Techno and house, 99% of the artists look normal.

My point was North Americans view rap, rock, pop as normal music and yet a lot of the artists dress weird as ****....and many of these same people view metal, electronic dance music, etc. as weird and yet the artists dress more normal than a lot of rappers, rockers, etc. (again, excluding some obvious genres such as death metal and such).

If you're talking about getting your crappy, talentless image noticed by the entertainment industry then yeah you need to dress shiny and sing your little heart out on the auto-tune. A real entertainer gets up on stage and entertains based off his own talent and creativity. An outfit is needed if its a theatrical performance, otherwise its completely unnecessary.
