you know what's wild that I hadn't really thought about since then, but Whitney Houston was reported dead September 10th, 2001 (maybe it was the 9th?) - not like one obscure web site reported it but several news sources, it turned out to be a false report and the next day was 9-11 and it got totally lost in the shuffle. I'll let you conspiracy theorists have your way with that one but I just remembered that, pretty weird.

dun worry q, i gotcha back

f*cking quacks think there's a goddamn reverse statute of limitations on making fun of death? you're both retarded simpletons.

"alright everybody, it's finally here! six months ago, Bridget -- that's right, our most detested cousin, and with good reason -- committed the most horrendous of suicides by hurling herself onto a freeway and getting run over not once, not twice, but seventeen times. i would say another few cars wrangling her body wouldn't have hurt, but hey, that's just me. i can say that now because, hooray, it's time we all get the weight off our chests and crack our jokes. we gave her family six months to get over and move on from the death of their beloved sister and daughter. but now that the grace period has passed, it's time to get drunk and disgrace her name as we all know she truly deserved."

the above is me trying to get it through your thick skulls that YOU EITHER MAKE FUN OF DEATH, RAPE, AND TORTURE... OR YOU DON'T. it's just a stupid social norm that caters to irrational sensibilities that would have you wait wait wait until it becomes socially acceptable to crack jokes. and it's the same with anything, Whitney, Michael, nuclear disasters in japan, torture at abu graib, etc, etc, etc. these things are all despicable. they remain despicable three months afterwards, two years afterwards, and five decades afterwards. if that's really your criteria for what gets shit on by comedians and what doesn't.... well i can only imagine you're terribly unfunny people and don't laugh much anyway, in which case, well, q's joke wasn't made for your benefit and thus he doesn't give a shit about your opinion.

It should automatically be sorted by top comment (most upvotes), but it's there right now. Considering how huge Reddit is, my bet is that it was from there (And I Think I've seen Faptastrophe mention reading the site). Regardless, it wasn't posted here and it's certainly within the realm of possibility two people thought of the same joke.

in my opinion, Whitney had 2 peaks. Her first peak was during the mid to late 80s between her self titled album "Whitney Houston" and "Whitney". Her second peak was "The Bodyguard". I can't really tell which peak is higher, because both are relatively high in terms of great singers. Some pretty high peaks to reach. RIP Whitney. Let's just say MJ-esque (multiple peaks).

nah. I define her prime her stretch from 1985-1993 with 2 peaks from late 85-late 87 and 92-93. I separate the 2 because her first peak had more of a contemporary r&b feel compared to her early 90's had more of a soulful r&b feel. Her album before The Bodyguard "I'm Your Baby Tonight" was her transitional test from contemporary to more soul.

yeah i agree she never had a down period. I'm separating her music career stylistically between her 80s and 90s. Judging by her sales, it looked like her fans weren't phased by her change. :D it does look like one full period of greatness without a drop if you look at it overall, but i am over analyzing it in a genre sense.

Won't care then either.

It's funny, no one gave a shit when she was alive and in clear need of help from the drugs...but as soon as she dies, "OMG, I feel so bad!", "Someone should have helped her!", "She was the best!"

Ok. And you're surprised? They do that with anybody famous that dies. I remember the same thing when Jackson died. All jokes when he was alive, but whe he died he was the GOAT.

Ok. And you're surprised? They do that with anybody famous that dies. I remember the same thing when Jackson died. All jokes when he was alive, but whe he died he was the GOAT.

I know you said you don't care, but you obviously care that people cared more about her after her death than when she lived. Its ok bro, let it out. :lol
It's not the same as when Jackson died. Many people still loved Jackson. Many people already considered him the greatest. People worshipped him his entire life.

1 week ago, absolutely no one gave a shit about Whitney Houston. She hasn't been relevant or on anyone's mind in god knows how long. Now she's dead, everyone just has to declare to the world how much they loved her and how long they've been a fan. Yes, that annoys me.

His loyal fans stood by him through thick and thin. But many, including the media, didn't give a rats ass about him when he was alive. Dude didn't even live in America anymore. His last final tour, was to be held in Europe. But he died and now everyone started to show love. I don't think most people, besides his loyal fans, cared about MJ that much before he did either. MJ wasn't exactly relevant in America at the time of his death.

So I'm sure Whitney's true fans always stood by her as well. Obviously she doesn't have the global impact as MJ but she was an incredible talent. Dead or alive, people would agree to that.

You know everyone is talking about her now? Because she just died. People talk about current events. It's a pretty simple concept.

Human life should be respected no matter who it is. All of those making it a point to show how they don't care about her death or even think it is funny probably have never come close to death themselves or have never had anyonet hey do care about die.

Human death should always be respected IMO...no matter who it is...even someone being put to death for a horrid crime, it's a shame.

A lot of the musicians i've met, the drug culture and the drinking is very casual, it's almost part of the culture, and they act like (and i disagree) it's part of the creative process. The thing is, when you are poor it's harder to have excesses, to drink or take too much. Once they become rich, it's way way too easy. The story ends like this too much. I get people shrugging their shoulders rather than caring too much.

I'll take your word for it, I just don't understand it. I don't feel remotely close to anyone I'm a fan of, just enjoy their music.

There was a homeless man who hung around my job, and one day we heard he died. He wasn't a superstar, no a singer, no millions of fans. But when he died, we were kind of in shock. Its death and no comin back from that. You can't just think she'll feel better tomorrow. No body was laughin "uh, he homeless and now he dead" or whatever like that. Death is not just something I laugh at. Pretty sure most of the folks sayin that in this thread, are probably in the terrible Death Pool thread.

The night before Whitney Houston was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton, she had "partied heavily" with a group of friends at the hotel bar.

Hotel staff say Whitney and her friends were drinking for a very long time and were being very loud - so much so that they stood out even among all the other pre-Grammy festivities that were going on in the hotel.

As we mentioned earlier, Whitney was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room. Police say prescription pills were found.

We won't know the exact cause of death until an autopsy is completed, but it's possible that Whitney may have OD'd or drowned.

Absolutely gut-wrenching. Alcohol and pills just DO NOT mix. Sad, sad…

Houston was seen ordering and consuming considerable quantities of alcohol at the hotel two mornings last week, said a source briefed on her behavior and activity in the days before her death.

The source told CNN's Don Lemon that Houston ordered the drinks before 10 a.m. last Wednesday and Thursday from the bars in the lobby and pool area.

Guests both days overheard Houston loudly complaining about her drinks, accusing bartenders of "watering down" or "putting too much ice" in them, the source said Wednesday.

The source said other guests expressed concern about Houston's erratic behavior. Her disheveled appearance, including mismatched clothing, suggested to them that she was intoxicated, the source said. The source said Houston was seen jumping in and out of the pool and doing somersaults in the pool area.

The source added that Houston was alone for some of the time, but was also seen at the pool drinking with her entourage and a male companion on both days.

Saturday, the day she died, Houston was seen drinking at the pool in the morning, although the source noted witnesses said her behavior did not appear erratic.

A singer who participated in an impromptu duet with Houston at a party Thursday night said Houston was not behaving erratically, but did have champagne.

"I didn't see someone who was high," Kelly Price told CNN's "Starting Point" on Monday. During the party, Houston took the stage unexpectedly and sang a hoarse rendition of "Jesus Loves Me" with Price.

While prescription medication was found in the room where Houston died, the amount was less than that usually present in overdose deaths, Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner at the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, has said.

If she hadn't met Bobby Brown it would have been something else. I get tired of people blaming Bobby for all of this. No one knows what kind of person Whitney was behind closed doors. Everyone assumes she turned for the worse once she met and married Bobby. We didn't know that. And if she somehow was what does that say about Whitney. She let someone take over her life that much that she ruined herself her career. Let's start holding Whitney accountable and only Whitney. For all we know she could have been miserable from the time she started in the business way before meeting Bobby.

Dont get me wrong, Bobby is not all to blame. The stress fame brings is enough for anyone to cope with and people find drugs as a way to forget it all. But people do think he influenced her and how much I guess we will never do. But I get what your saying.

Whitney Houston's Cause Of Death Revealed

http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.19112/title.whitney-houstons-cause-of-death-revealed

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has revealed that Whitney Houston's official cause of death is: "drowning and the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."

According to USAToday.com, the beloved singer's death has been ruled an accident.

Houston was found underwater in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel room on February 11, several hours before a pre-Grammy party.

"Cocaine and metabolites were identified and were contributory to the death," adds the report. "Marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax), Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) were identified but did not contribute to the death."

Various prescription pill bottles were found in Whitney Houston's hotel room at the time of her death. Houston was 48.

the coroner:

The coroner's report stopped short of detailing what happened to Houston, but HLN's Dr. Drew Pinsky, an addiction medicine specialist, examined the autopsy report for CNN and suggested she might have suffered a seizure brought on by the use of cocaine possibly combined with a withdrawal from alcohol and a prescription sedative.
