I hate how people always bring god into their conversations. It's like people ONLY want to be good to respect GOD, not because they want to be good from their heart. My buddies annoy me half the time when they start getting into their religious rants. But it's just advice, don't get all butt hurt At the end of the day, Jeremy Lin can do whatever the F*CKKKK HE WANTS TO DO!!!!!!

Who gives a **** if he's a Christian.

He could be a Pagan Wiccan Satanist and I would respect him just as much.

**** all this religion talk, b. Lin is a great kid and I don't think him being a christian has shit to do with it. I'm just going to watch this kid play and ignore this little dumb side story.

Don't want a Tebow soap opera in the NBA. SMH.

Just saying, that's what people find annoying. There's been quite a few professional athletes who were religious, but they haven't all be so presumptuous as to credit divine will for their success.

Hakeem fasted every Ramadan, but he didn't credit Allah in interviews for making John Starks shoot badly.

I think he said that he wanted to be a pastor or something if his NBA career didn't work out or something like that.

But it's not like him being Christian or some other religion would help him make a jumper in the NBA. It's all about if he has skill or not. As long as it doesn't cause some lockerroom drama or something that will affect chemistry on the court it won't matter, and so far it doesn't seem to matter or it's helping. However Christians, players who hardly get shot in the NBA, and Asian Americans could be inspired by him. Good story.

Religious people tend to be more intelligent.

It's the opposite I think.

"So, more intelligent children are more likely to grow up to go against their natural evolutionary tendency to believe in God, and they become atheists."

Young adults who identify themselves as "not at all religious" have an average IQ of 103 during adolescence, while those who identify themselves as "very religious" have an average IQ of 97 during adolescence.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100224132655.htm

Not that it matters much because there are a lot of ppl who are religious who are smart. Like I think there was a report that said biologist tend to be more religious than ppl who major in business or lawers or something like that. I could be wrong tho. And this has nothing to do with basketball, so it doesn't really matter.

Not mine, but God's. The book of mormon contradicts the Bible, which is the only and true uncorruptible word of God.

Actually I saw a study and I think I posted it last year showing most middle class individuals and those in high paying jobs are religious.

Of course, we should also take into account that most people are religious. Now, before anyone once again jumps and says I'm being a hypocrite, I'm keeping my bias out of it.

So to balance that, I would say that there are a great many people who believe simply because they're too stupid to think of any other way of life. That brings the average IQ down. Meanwhile, people who become educated can make decisions, and that pans out into the higher IQ. However, this makes no statement regarding how many smart people are religious, and how that intelligence correlates with their beliefs.

No evidence has been put forward to make me believe anything other than that.

Not mine, but God's. The book of mormon contradicts the Bible, which is the only and true uncorruptible word of God.

Except it was corrupted. Heard of the Council of Nicaea?

Let me begin by saying that has absolutely nothing to do with whether the LDS church is Christian.

The Curse of Cain goes along the same lines of Catholics finally saying that maybe, just maybe, babies aren't stuck in limbo if they die before they're baptized. We all have our black eyes. I won't deny them. But I will say that translating the golden plates is not silly nonsense, though it may sound like it, and my church will back that up. Yet another "real world" thread with pathetically stupid comments in it:rolleyes:
The single biggest problem with a lot of you on here, is that you have no life outside of the internet, therefore no real perspective on anything. If you spent less time online maintaining some stupid "internet persona" that doesn't really exist anyway, and more time in the real world, you'd understand that no everything you think in your head should come out of your mouth. Who are you to say another person's beliefs, opinions, ideas, etc are this and that simply cuz it's different from your own?! Everybody has a right to their own opinion, however misguided it is, but to flat out tell another person they don't have a right to their own lifestyle, beliefs, etc, is ludicrous as hell. Which is the telltale sign of a person who's such a social leper, that they spend way too much time online. Cuz anybody with a normal life outside of the internet can tell you, saying stupid stuff like that in public, to another person's face, will get you simply laid the f**k out.

Studies have shown that it's actually more dangerous, in terms of the cons outweighing the pros, to have circumcision. I'll still circumcize my child(ren) when it comes around to it, but it's not healthier.

IQ doesn't determine whether someone is intelligent or not. I rather use the guage of success in life rather than some test score.

Doctors, Dentists, Engineers, Lawyers, Teachers, CS, Physicists, Pharmacists, Economists, CEO, etc...

Success in Life is the guage of intelligence not some test score.

I think that IQ is part of measuring intelligence, but it's open to debate. There's a bunch of different IQ tests out there.

I don't think success in life is a determine of whatever someone is intelligent or not. You could be average with intelligence and be successful because you are good at something. Like you could be a good singer, actor, pro athlete (boxer, football, etc), and etc, and you'll have a lot of money. I think there was a study where ppl with a high EQ are more successful than ppl with a high IQ.

You don't have to be smart to be successful in life. And having an high IQ doesn't mean you could do everything. Even with the person with the highest IQ ever recorded (who is a doctor) said that he can't draw or play an instrument.

There is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise but with careful discernment though.

(John 7:24). When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Wrong. It was the LORD not an angel.

Before criticizing my intelligence, you need to learn how to seperate quotes. Unfortunately for you, if you hadn't received your information from a second source, you would know that Mormons read both the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

I would also like to point out that in the Ten Commandments, it says, "Thou shalt not kill."

Well, shit. Looks like that doesn't apply to sinners. God must hate those sinners. I bet Jesus was trying to get rid of Mary Magdalene as quickly as possible so he wouldn't fall into prostitution.

As for the LORD, it says, "The Lord sought to kill Moses." That does not necessarily mean the Lord would personally kill him, no. But don't mind me, keep grasping at your straws.

I find all religions to be similar in that they are all a con game. To each his own, though. Just as long as he doesn't try to force feed it then I'm cool with it.

I think Tebow is a nice guy, but the religion stuff tends to overshadow him as a person. I mean, when you think of Tebow people think of baby Jesus, right? I kid, I kid.. please don't fake neg me. :D

What's the big deal? Lin obviously has very strong beliefs which he keeps to but isn't always throwing in our faces like Tebow is. Does he throw the "I'm holier than thou" routine around like Tebow does? Not even close.

I'm not exactly a religious guy, but Lin's steadfast devotion to God without being overbearing and annoying is definitely respectable.
